Ethan said you could pull out one of the floppies from the Honeycomb boxes, and sell it on eBay, and it'll cover the box on a stream. Yeah, that's pretty much bullshit. The highest one of Ethan's books that I've seen go for around $100 is the Salamandroid variant, and that still doesn't cover the $200 for the box plus shipping to be calculated.

It's funny though, that you'd be defending how he's "winning" when literally all his backers are just idiots throwing away their money at this point. I suppose you're one of those loyal cultists for the Church of Frog.

Rekt Planet wouldn't have done anywhere near the numbers of Blood Honey if he hadn't changed the game with the Honeycomb box innovation. Redefining the crowdfunding game, even if by complete accident, is how he's going to be remembered from all this. The interesting part for me is if he can keep up that innovation. And before he's shit on for accidental innovation we should be reminded that most disruptive innovation is accidental.

And for crying out loud stop sniffing your own farts by calling this "art". Comics aren't the Mona Lisa for fucks sake. It's mindless entertainment. There's nothing wrong with that - or even making a fortune off producing it - but lets at least call it what it is.

i ditched the idea of making a Sonichu book awhile ago. I got bored of the material. I’m working on something else now.

That’s part of running a business and why he limited the number of Frog boxes so that they are in super high demand right now. Since, EVS’s customers are idiots like you say, then they will pay the high prices for his like they’ve been doing for the past 3 years.

You don’t think that gold foil Blood honey is not going to sell for at least 100 bucks on Ebay? Or that people aren’t going to pay inflated prices for the whole Frog box set? Then you are sadly mistaken and that will be readily apparent when you started seeing people put these extra boxes and comics exclusive to the box on ebay for sale.

to be honest, I more of the mind with thinking that it may very well be late because that is an awful lot of orders with multiple books by multiple artists that are involved in this project. We don’t even know the progress that is being made on the other books. It will be interesting to watching and hopefully my feeling of the campaign being late is wrong.

The toys are spring 2021 most definitely. But Ethan had ideas of figures for a while and has used 3drobin's cyberfrog models as a base. Are they statues or actual figures with articulation?

It's almost like he had to exploit paypig and collector culture or something and create a series of campaigns put at a higher price point to pull it off. I do like the disingenuous approach here though where you neglect to state your metric is pure money tho. His buyer-to-issue ratio is worse given over half of it was entirely based and relies on speculation.

At the moment, the printer is done with UNFROGETTABLE TALES, and I've paid to have the shipment rushed here on Monday. This is the first big shipment from a printer that I've had since before CoVid, so we'll see if there are any delays. I just need to begin shipping them in July to make the promised release date, so I have a little leeway. Shipping small packages from Marlton NJ to the rest of the world hasn't been a problem, except for a few locations, (Africa, India) that the USPS rejected at the post office last week.

It's hard to say what things will look like in 4 or 5 months. I guess we'll see.

He claims he has all the expenses laid out, yet refuses to show me or quote me. The tweet where he quotes this one reminding everyone that he "didnt spend all the money" and "just did accounting haha anti CG thinks I spent it all" is gone since he scrubbed his Twitter, but this one is still floating around

This dm is from a few weeks ago where an expense he clearly knows prevents him from telling me the accounting. I didnt press further because I know he'd give me more bull

Are you Ethan's official goal poster mover? EVS says his simple, boring background is "perfect," proceeds to misidentify/mischaracterize 5-point perspective at least 4 times while trying to defend his weak understanding of perspective, gets eviscerated for pages of people telling him what a sped he is. People parrot it again and again because of what a massive fucking ego it takes to get butthurt over a truly lacking part of his repertoire and posting the most lack luster "counter-point" only to get rightfully called out even more. It's truly pathetic.

...And now you wanna talk about the state of other people's art and then you wanna talk bout how people here feel about his successful campaign? Success doesn't necessarily correlate with quality, and pro comic art has been on a decline since EVS broke into the industry.

I never really brought it up because of how unclouth and classless it was, but did you see what he did with his mention of Mike Wieringo in defence of his lack of skill? "Mike told me you can just wing it" What a fucking play! There, he all but admits that his foundation is shit, and best of all, he's got the word and tacit support (ALLEGEDLY) of a man who dead (classic comicsgate playbook move #33). Cool post-mortem story, bro, but you're no Wieringo.

EVS also said he's bought some books on perspective someone suggested here, all but admitting that his foundation is shit again. Makes one wonder just how "perfect" he truly thought that shit background was, huh? Maybe we can chalk this whole thing, in its entirety, up to that massive chip on his shoulder? Yes, I think so.

Bear in mind that the awesome art you remember in Spawn was probably Greg Cappulo. Much of the awesomeness in CF is Kyle Riter.
EVS is a twopenny Todd McFarlane: goodish artist with some impressive ideas and lots of style to overcome his shortcomings. But he can play the market and make a profit and, judging from the previous pages, he still cares for th craft (even though I can see how burned out he is on comics)

Is it rational though? He cant tell me the expenses before shipping? Even if a certain shipping rate went up, he can tell me what he has left before shipping.

because money is the main measurement of a book‘s success. Look at Order of the Stick. The art is total shit, but it’s at the top of the crowdfunding heap because of that 1.2 million dollars it made. Meanwhile, books with actual good art and story can’t even make funding. So tell me, why should these other metrics even matter if customers won’t open up their wallets for them?
