Shockingly people defend themselves in court and dragging the case is a known strategy yet Richard acts like this is a new thing. Also I don't think he realizes that interference isn't an issue. He has to prove that it caused damage not distract himself with what Mark did. It wouldn't surprise me if Mark wins this at this point

The problem is there are all these things designed to prevent someone like Waid from suing in bad faith and bankrupting someone. Its a tradeoff.
Also, they apparently do something called contingent fees in the law, where attorneys take their money from the case. I wonder why he didn't just do that?

That's actually probably the easy part. Proving it wasn't justified or protected speech is the hard part. Without it being unjustified it just isn't actionable tortious interference.
