Joe Q's ultimate fate is up in the air. We saw WB take a hatchet to Diane Nelson and Geoff Johns last year, and Disney took out Axel Alonso pretty quickly, so I wouldn't be surprised about any outcome at this point.
You think Marvel will join DC out in Cali?

Doug TenNapel's opening to Drawn and Quartered #53: LEGION OF DOOM!

I think Doug's delivery of "Schemes... and Scams" was on point. Definitely a highlight.

I need some clarification about Geoff Johns: was he axed as "showrunner" for DC Films, as Chief Creative Officer, or both? My memory of it all is a bit fuzzy. I recall that he and John Berg took the fall for the failure of Justice League, which was doomed from the start since it entered production shortly after BvS.

Since I have your attention, do you have any thoughts on DC's next crisis and as-of-yet-rumoured "5G" initiative which will see its main heroes replaced by legacy heroes. (e.g. Luke Fox as Batman instead of Dick, Tim, or Damian.) I personally find it troubling as it gives me the impression that these initiatives are proof that the company is in a death spiral.

The sooner they bring the axe down on that scumbag the better. He cemented his position as a hater of comics fans when he endorsed Renfamous.

As CCO.

I talk about my suspicions about 5G and AT&T vs DC all the time on my channel. My belief is that AT&T sees DC Comics publishing as a vestigial tail of their purchase of Warner Bros, since the merger was really only about creating streaming content. They don't care about comics, it's small money, and they already produce enough material to keep the characters trademark.

DC Comics' existential argument would be, "Yes, but we create new stories and characters for you to mine for your streaming service!"

AT&T: "Thanks but we have 80 years worth of stories you've already created, and who's to say your creative people are going to concoct better stories about Batman than some Hollywood shithead would?"

DC Comics': "But we're going to do NEW stuff with our characters now. Watch!"

Then their 5G launch is rolled out to much ballyhoo, and AT&T says, "Huh." And DC Comics publishes another day.

DC naming their new generation books 5g is a brilliant way to SEO yourself out of existence as 5G enabled phones become the norm.

I see your point. DC Comics couldn't lose enough money for AT&T to take notice, much less intervene. Thus DC will limp along regardless of how well 5G does, which is sad, but true. So we're stuck with Dan DiDio and Jim Lee's harebrained ideas until they decides to retire. If Quesada, Broovert, and Marvel editorial could get away with acting like asshats that long...

So its a scheme and scam to front up the Stock?

How soon till we see "Joe Quesada is coming" and "Tom Breevort" is coming ads for DC

Zack sent out notice earlier today that Ethan’s cover is done. It looks pretty spiffy. Depending on how quickly Kyle finishes up the colors, Ya Boi could begin shipping soon.

Zack: "Ethan is not holding up the printing of God King."
Also Zack: "Ethan is finished, we're now ready to print!"
Richard has said that he spent the last month and a half doing extremely minor, tedious "fixes" to the print file and he script.
I'm inclined to believe that that's true, because Richard is that way. He will obsess over things almost endlessly, even things that don't matter...
...but I'm also inclined to think that if EVS had actually gotten the cover done months ago, it wouldn't've come to this.

Richard wanted the book done and shipped ON TIME.
He said many times earlier this year that being ON TIME was a priority for him.
I think he would have stopped fiddling around with microscopic pixels on a pdf doc if it meant getting the book out ON TIME, LIKE HE SAID, rather than months late like it's going to be.

Right from the get-go the campaign was advertised with "EVS cover". But that's the LAST thing we see? Doesn't smell right. The Kyle Ritter cover became the main image only because EVS never did his cover till the very end.

I don't really know why his would be. Why would Richard want to go through basically the entire campaign without the EVS cover image to attract buyers? He wouldn't. He would want the cover. But he didn't pressure EVS to do it. Is it because he's afraid of EVS? Probably. He's scared to ask. I do think that EVS probably wanted the campaign to be at least a little late, because otherwise the juxtaposition of "Cyberfrog is very late" and "GodKing is on time!" would be so close that it might finally cause a few sparks of consciousness in their normiecattle paypig boomerbuck 55yo-babyman customerbase. ... But then by October I think EVS would have realized "Okay enough is enough, people are going to start blaming me for being late on the cover"--which they were--"So, HEY ZACK, HEY ZACK MY REAL LONGTIME FRIEND WHOM I CALL BY A FAKE INTERNET NAME, WHEN DO YOU NEED THE COVER? NOW? NOW FINALLY WHEN THE CAMPAIGN IS LATE YOU FINALLY NEED THE COVER? OK."

Yeah I'm sure it's totally fine with Richard that he didn't have even the line art to the fucking cover until the project was a month and a half late. Sounds good.

Well, if you ask him I'm sure Richard wouldn't say shit and would take the blame himself like a good little bitch. "No, I was still autistically playing around with word emphasis in the script for eight weeks. Like, should the character say 'I will!' or 'I WILL!' and should both words be italicized or just one? Which one? Should 'WILL' be in a larger font? How much larger? Let's do 27 revisions of the script based on every variable option for this type of change, email all proofreaders and get their opinion, repeatedly, for a month and a half AFTER the deadline. These are very important matters that NEEDED to be obsessed over for months, and the cover could not be started until they were hashed out. It's just a pure coincidence that YES I needed the cover exactly at the time EVS asked me if he should finally do it. Just a coincidence -- you guys are crazy aahaheheheh!"

P.S. BTW, EVS, instead of responding here I would recommend you actually do work on your comic books. That is a better use of your time. I give your Jawbreakers GodKing cover a soft 6/10. You are usually at least a 6.5. Kyle Ritter's coloring makes your art look better than it has any right to be. You have lost a few steps since the late '00s.

...Okay dude I got to ask did EVS kill your dog or something?

This belongs in the thread the mods made for my dick-riders and hangers on, though. Mods should move it there.

I wasn't, and then I was. Zack sent me a message three days ago telling me that everything was ready except my cover and he needed it immediately. I had it halfway done and sitting in my office, but the last month for me has seen me fulfilling CFBH and doing the 700 sketch covers I needed to get done, and then also preparing the trading cards campaign.

So I took two days off to wrap it up.

I think it looks pretty good, it's definitely my best work. I hope he likes it and I hope you like it too! Back JAWBREAKERS GOD KING today!

I hate to say it but no, your best work was the gl rebirth covers. Especially #1 with spectre. I dunno if it's the times but you lost a step.
