Its mainly the artists and writers are phoning it in....
This for example is a comic book cover for IronMan in 2018...

When an artist who's starting point was just winning a Rockman 4 design a robot boss contest as kid can draw a cooler comic cover material than you, you might need to reevaluate your artistic endeavours....

I agree with the artists being generally weak and lazy in American comic books lately, but trying to suggest they're bad because they're worse than Murata is kind of... strange? Murata is a fantastic artist whose art is beloved across the world. Him drawing Mega Man designs as a kid doesn't really have any reflection on his level of talent, either. I guess I just don't see what you're trying to get at?

I guess the point is lost in translation. So, I'll try to be as clear as possible...
When you the fucking artist, think the tentacle raping Tony Stark is pretty good enough to put as a comic book cover, you need to reevaluate your life. And the fucking editor approving that art as a cover needs to be led to the shed out back and shot between his eyes.

Stop trying to be fucking "high-art" or something like a shitty videogame boxart and make a cool comic book cover again that I might want to pick up and buy, even from the cover alone

Similarly, when Giruhiru was passed over for Erica Henderson for Squirrel Girl, there's something wrong inside the company who makes the decisions

You bet your sweet ass it is. Thor's grandfather, who never gave a shit about Earth, now has serious opinions about their politics.
Consider how counterproductive Marvel's editorial staff are with all their resources.. Marvel bought the rights to Angela from Neil Gaiman and everyone rejoiced that a popular character since the 90's would fit in the Asgardian scheme of things, as Thor's half sibling, no less. Loads of potential for storylines...

....and then they let Marguerite Bennett handle her book.

So someone wrote that, for money, and then another person employed as an editor gave it a green light? That's amazing.
The sad part is that these sorts of antics aren't exclusive to comics, tv shows, or movies. The American publishing industry is rotten to the core on every conceivable level and it's been that way far longer than most people realize. It's just that no one really cared until it trickled down to more "lowbrow" sectors of publishing like comics and screenwriting.

Remember the time that in order to portray the "alt-right" as evil people, they made Red Skull have a speech with the "alt-right" talking points, and actually made him more compelling and sympathetic to the readers, which the SJWs didn't expect??? and they dialed back by making the "alt-right" become automatic suicide bombers... Good times, good times....

My biggest problem with this page isn't the political message it's the insane amount of dialogue. All of this talk should have been in boxes like the first panel to give the artist some room to be creative. This is just Red Skull standing in a room while the POV rotates around him. It sucks without even having to read it.

Given how they like to write long form monologues on Twitter, it's no surprise.

Chris doesn't write this much dialogue per page.

But without giant chunks of expository dialogue, how ever will they establish that a ghoulish monster with a literal fucking red skull for a head is actually a bad guy who is, like, totally Drumpf?

One speech bubble, "Borders good."

Lefty memes are 10,000 word essays, so of course their comics are essays with pictures. When you are that full of ideology, you gotta baffle with bullshit.

The themes of a would-be savior being seduced (or savaged, eros and thanatos are rarely separate) by his own creation, or perhaps the everyman suffering/exalted by technology, and the Prometheus myth casting Tony as the firebringer, would make it a good choice for a cover in Vertigo's heyday.

For the brief reanimation of Vertigo, insert whining about cishetmale centering or some other nonsense - no one's buying it anyway.

Stop trying to be fucking "high-art" or something like a shitty videogame boxart and make a cool comic book cover again that I might want to pick up and buy, even from the cover alone

Even pre-Liefield New Mutants managed to be artful on occasion.

TBF, using Bill Sienkievicz as an example artist (with colorist Glynis Oliver Wein and editor Ann Nocenti - See how New! and Current Year having talented women working on comic books is? Ignore Jill Thompson and Donna Barr, who can take an entire book from draft to print) might be as fair as using Alan Moore as an example writer.

Honestly, I think the speech was pretty good, if not rather long, so the multiple panels dedicated to it are acceptable. Although I personally would have it all contained in one massive panel, with the Red Skull in a philosopher's pose, gesticulating to the audience.

Hiring Zoe Quinn is not phasing out wokeness. They seem to be drawing tits again from time to time and that's about the only impovement.
They hired her to write one story about a Z list character no body cares about in a book that no one's going to buy.

EVS is just playing dumb as usual. During the stream last night he was still playing dumb by saying things like "I guess I should have asked 'Is Doug anti-gay' not 'Is Earthworm Jim anti-gay'?" and "So just for clarification, ARE you anti-gay?"

That was some serious inquisitorial behavior like he's some kind of dude rooting out fucking heresy or some shit. Doug may be kind of autistic but that's asshole behavior.

This live stream really showed off these guy's character, I don't know how anyone can like these spergs, acting like white teenage girls with the scheming, constant jabs at each other and incredibly pointed questions etc, and then say stuff like "it was never my intention to hurt you ;)" when they are clearly out for blood. Also the purity spiraling was great.

It's hilarious given that a big issue in comics that was pointed out was this type of behavior too. Seriously, the biggest lesson you can learn about "creative" fields due to events like CG are that animators and artists tend to be manchildren or emotionally 12, and the writers may be this or failed in their previous jobs.

Regardless, assume everyone is a weirdo on some level.
