Odd how he doesn't make arrangements to get copies of books he knows are coming out/he wants to review via pre-order as well. He got the ZQ book, but was afraid he wouldn't. Isn't that the sort of thing his Patreon is for?

Yeah, you'd think the dude would be familiar with the concept of a pull list. (Not sure what his Patreon campaign has to do with it, though.)

I really don't mind changing a character's race, but one thing that kind of bothered me about Miles Morales is just that, that he wasn't really Spider-man, because they couldn't be arsed to create an original black hero, and they couldn't be brave enough to make the real Spider-man black.

Nah. Miles is good, he's a next generation Spiderman. And besides, Stan Lee specified Peter Parker was a white boy. So it would be silly to change that.

These people are really eager to surrender the high ground they think they have at any available opportunity.

So now, ComicsGate "Nazis" are against rape and child molestation, and comics "pros" are. . .for it??? Nice look. And you wonder why your shit industry is dying.

They sure fail as "feminists" if "nazis" are better at calling out rapist monsters than they are.

He seems to deliberately avoid pull lists and prefer to wonder the landscape, the highways and byways in his quests for certain books. I think a lot of it is from how much he moves around and travels.

The main thing with Miles is he kinda lost direction after they moved him to the main universe. He no longer is one of the few heroes in a broken world and is in a position where it'd be smarter for him to just focus on school. They can't even send him back as the Ultimate universe has it's Peter Parker and the Ultimates (Avengers) back.

"Sidekick" is really the only niche he can fill at the moment which they aren't committing to. I bet most hostilities towards the character would go away if they distance themselves from the "Representation" crowd, Miles doesn't really have much in common with the average black or Latino kid in NYC. That's not belittling as many popular characters are sidekicks.

Oh and following up with the stuff about how he's allegedly going to be an espionage agent for SHIELD in the future, that's interesting. Just move away from suggesting he should replace Parker "right now" who already has issues from writers not accepting he hasn't been a teen since before Nixon entered office.

Every single day I'm reminded that I'm surrounded by autists.
*cue the 'Asshole' gag from Spaceballs here, but replace 'asshole' with 'autist'*

"Great, I'm surrounded by autists!" *slam down visor* "KEEP FIRING, AUTISTS!"

Sorry, I couldn't resist :)

Bonvillain and Villalobos have withdrawn from Border Town, so the book is likely dead.

I can't find the article that TUG shows at the beginning of the vid and of course he didn't link to it in the description, but the tweets are archived here and here.

When the troons start gunning for you, you’re officially done in comics.

EDITS: 1: Capped the archives, 2: Found the article.

Article:
RAMON VILLALOBOS AND TAMRA BONVILLAIN LEAVE BORDER TOWN AFTER ALLEGATIONS LEVIED AT ERIC ESQUIVEL
Posted on December 12, 2018 by Brett
We brought you the story yesterday of the allegations made by Cynthia Naugle of the physical and emotional abuse she suffered while working with Eric M. Esquivel.

In the post, Naugle doesn’t name Esquivel and refers to him as “X.” Due to clues she leaves, it’s clear it’s Esquivel, one of the creators behind the recent Vertigo series hit Border Town.

Today, his collaborators on the project, Ramon Villalobos and Tamra Bonvillain have both announced they would be leaving the project. Bonvillain makes clear there are more issues than this one. It’s unclear if any of them are in regards to other accusations that have come forward in the days that Naugle has gone public.

Bonvillain said that DC has wanted to keep the focus on Eric and have been waiting for him to speak up, but he remains silent. Villalobos and Bonvillain informed DC they’d like to speak up due to the silence and DC gave them permission.

DC Comics/Vertigo have not made a statement, and declined to make one at the time when when we reached out, but SBI Press is parting ways with Esquivel as well.

Without his collaborators, it’s still unknown as to the future of Border Town and Esquivel’s role at Vertigo.

Quick, throw him under the bus! I love this low, low standard of proof. For Stalin's show trials they manufactured proof and tortured confessions out of people. This is the next step in evolution!

THE ALLEGATION IS THE PROOF!
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

LOL. The most empty of virtue signalling.

"I know this book is going to be canned, so I'll just jump ahead of this and claim i'm quitting the book because I believe women! Look at all the good I do!"

Funny how these taintlickers claim they knew all about these rumours, but didn't even bother to bring it up to DC earlier so they could vet Esquivel in advance and avoid this shitshow in the first place.

Oh look! The colorist quit!

(Yeah, nobody gives a shit! Nobody would give a shit even if it was a good book.)

Good job ditching the book in light of these horrible allegations fellas. Now about that guy who posted his asshole on twitter...

Oh no, now we'll never get closure on this truly gripping story, said no one now or in the future

Just like Waid admitting to knowing about Gerard Jones(?) and doing nothing, such paragons of virtue these pros are. Was this book a 6 issue run? #4 should be released this month, so it may have already been completed with no further work for them anyway.

That 0.4% increase Joe Quesada was crowing about from last month sure showed CG who's boss. Oh wait...

:story: Truly we live in a new Golden Age:

IMO the "Golden Age" is an odd term in relation to comics. As far as I understand it, the Silver and Bronze Ages were the true peak of influence and popularity without the gimmicks that defined the Dark age of the 90s. Golden Age was really a wild west deal when the industry first sprang up that already shrank after WW2 even before the Comics Code raped its corpse, not a "Golden Age" in the sense of a society at its peak.

I think the terminology is throwing people off that aren't used to it. The term even predates Marvel coming out of the woodworks and beating DC with the Fantastic Four and later creations so it's not like they were aware of the trajectory of these creations was going to be.

I mean it is just people lazily carrying over a historical term to refer to super serious comics history. It's been lazily carried over to most things really

I'm waitin for proof/due process and all too, but let's be honest, you're more likely to be raypt by a "sex-positive" Male Feminist Ally like Esquivel than a WASPy Chad.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE
