So basically, the time they had to prove to Google that they were taking legal action passed without them doing so, right?

Ayup. Plus D&C’s response to YouTube was that neither of these twits is the owner of the copyrights they were claiming. Well at least Mags isn’t Kwanza May, but flipping past a few pages of his book while reviewing it is not a copyright violation.

That makes them both perjurers. Criminals. Felons.

Sadly when was the last time anyone was charged with perjury? For anything?

I still think Meyer can use Kwanza to rattle Waid’s cage in his lawsuit. If nothing else Kwanza’s direct Tie to Waid could probably be used to get some discovery from these two nitwits. And I can’t imagine putting either under oath to be a good thing for whoever’s side they are on. Mags especially.

It's no different that "Comics have ALWAYS been political, you just never noticed" that gets tossed around.

That one always shits me, because of course people noticed - you can't have something as blatant as "God Loves, Man Kills" and not see that there's political content in the comics.

Thing is, the complaints are that it's not being done well. The political commentary isn't weaved into the plots or a natural result of the characters - it's poorly presented, ham-fisted attacks on the writer's ideological enemies with the barest veneer of plot. It's not the characters getting switched out for replacements, which will always draw fannish ire but it usually settles down if the replacement is done well - it's replacing them with poorly-written, poorly-drawn mouthpieces who have no character other than their skin colour, sexuality or gender. With the added bonus of the character being written poorly and often as highly unlikeable, but if you don't love them, you're only disliking them because you're a bigot.

It's that Judge Dredd story where they throw out everything about the character and the background to make a thinly veiled Trump analogy - and if you have any complaints you're just a racist. Upset that they fuck up a character so they're more in line with the writer's political views? No, it is you who are wrong.

It's that insular SJW mindset that you both refer to where you can't possibly dislike something because of the quality - you have to dislike it because it comes from a trans creator, or because it's a woman in charge and you're a misogynist, or all the reasons they use to ignore people saying, "Your not as good as you think you are." Comics have always been political, sure. But those comics were written by people with talent. People who could see when an analogy works and when it doesn't work. People who could establish context and develop an arc and make you care about characters.

tl;dr: The majority of current creators aren't talented enough to do anything with the characters under their control that doesn't represent their political views in a ham-fisted, usually continuity-breaking way. They'll just never acknowledge people are angry about their lack of skill because they can't see that they're just ... not very good at what they do.

Well the implication is comics have always been #Woke and it's in every story which especially dumb. Most of them pointing towards late 60s and 70s comics but all of a sudden we forget that Hulk comic I mentioned early that makes fun of feminists which was surprisingly common in 1970s Marvel. A lot of the preachy ones weren't even good for their time.

There's a 2000s era Spider-Man plot where a school teacher turns out to be a demon that wants to rape and eat Spider-Man so their resulting spider-offspring will take over Earth. I will be amazed if anyone can link that to an insightful look at George W. Bush and his administration.

To be fair, everybody sweeps some old comics under the carpet - entire runs are just treated as 'yeah, we don't really talk about that'. So of course they emphasise the comics that make their point, just as we can point to comics that make ours. Still, you can read something in to how they only ever seem to know about the most prominent comics, while fans tend to know about both the good and the bad, the famous and the obscure, and how that indicates how much they actually care about the medium they're creating for.

The main difference seems to be that most people would just look at some of these runs and go, 'Yeah, that wasn't very good, was it?' and the #Woke crowd instead go, 'Well that was problematic.' They just can't seem to factor in talent as to why people respond to certain characters, plots and designs - to them, there's only 'good politics' and 'bad politics' and skill has nothing to do with it.

And again, you can probably read something into it generally being the people with the least talent who believe this. Not always, sure - but the loudest #Woke voices do seem to be the ones that have the least to offer creatively. At least, this thread would certainly back that up, considering how frequently people like Kwanzer, Renfamous, Gabby Rivera and Maggs are referenced, and what level of contribution to comics they've actually provided...

EVS is livestreaming, a bit about the DMCA with Zack for about the first hour and 25min and now into a little bit of lawsuit stuff

"Something I find gross". Honest question, does she talk about anything else on her Twitter or is it 24/7 "REEE RICHARD MEYER/KIWIS/GATERS"?

She's really attached to this gross thing.
No, Ren is desperate to ride his dick.

I find it bizarre that she inserted herself into comicsgate for no reason and is now shrieking about it 24/7. She has no connection to the comics industry.

Maybe that brainless twat would be satisfied and go away if he just inseminated her and gave her the super baby she obviously wants from him.

She obviously is desperate for a dicking from a real man.

It's X-Men: Red. Cassandra Nova (Xavier's sister) is trying to get people to hate the X-Men and one of the plots involved nanomachines that make people hate mutants.

The arc was called The Hate Machine and took up most of the 11 issue run.
I'm just catching up to this thread, and this may be my delusion speaking...

... But isn't that the same comic where Jean Grey literally mindblown Hillary Clinton head as part of Cassandra's plan?

I think Yaboi mentioned that in the last EVS stream where he feels weird that he's gotten to the point that most of the people sperging about him aren't even people in comics, both industry people and as a hobby, anymore. He thinks they spend way too much time on twitter to really have a hobby.

Same for "indie creator" types like Darryl Ayo. They make 1 or 2 "zines" featuring people with goopy anatomy, frizzy hair and librarian glasses & wordy struggles. They sell maybe 70 copies at SPX, then decide they've got Important Comics Industry Opinions to exhaustingly post about all day or stalk CGers over, and somehow get like 10k followers who never actually engage with their posts.

Remember this when Moose (and any other nutcase on twitter) says their tweets are copyrighted:

In case it isn't clear:
GET FUCKED MOOSE!

Moose is so pathetic, I almost feel sorry for him. Almost:

Richard’s into brown women, not yellow from excessive drinking.

It’s a pattern we see throughout these assorted Culture Wars. Look at Gamergate. So many of the precious “Indie Devs” were strung out losers who never produced anything more than the equivalent of a singleJunior High School homework assignment, and therefore were considered “Industry Pro’s and Insiders”. Ad that’s the ones that didn’t simply steal their game from a partner (looking at you Phil Fish). Somehow that step where you turn your little hobby project into a viable successful product before being awarded professional status has been lost to history.
