Zack is most likely talking about this video. Taking into account that the murder of Austin Metcalf has become very racial, that there were black people protesting outside the trial house and that Eric is black and lives in Texas, it doesn't seem so out of place for Eric to talk about it.

I still have no idea what this sin this Eric July guy committed except successfully doing what EVS and DickMeyer tried and failed to do. While being black.

I don't even really have a dog in this fight. I was always more into manga than American comics. EVS used to be kind of fun to listen to in a Howard Stern kind of way when he'd trash-talk woke comics and culture. I could have it playing while I was doing other things.

When he became completely obsessed with Eric, I unsubbed. I don't care about the guy one way or another.
EVS may be a has been, but DickMeyer is a never-was. He's so pathetic in thinking he can go woke and the SJWs will forgive him and hire him for mainstream comics.

You’d have to prove they can do that, and that’s pretty difficult when their critics fly between them being irrelevant basement dwellers and all-powerful gods of Hollywood.

Then you'd have to prove whether movie goers adjust their opinions to theirs, or they’re just speaking truth to what they already think/feel.

I doubt they bend people to their will. People just agree with what the reviewers say because they themselves have come to the same conclusion. There was no need for a child to point out the fact that the emperor has no clothes. We all could tell. We never even pretended that we didn't know. We just rallied behind those that said it out loud.

A lot of people were, and still are, afraid to admit what they’re seeing.
Example:
A leftist black game dev admitted companies are making female characters uglier. If you submit art of a female character, she looks nothing like her reference(s) when completed. He was couching this in as many safe terms as possible, and still got in trouble.

His peers and their sycophants jumped down his throat bad until he submitted and recanted.
It’s like that in animation, comics, and movies too.
 
Critical Drinker and his crew can definitely earn or a tank a few movie sales. But I doubt they have enough significant pull in either direction. The industry is probably just assmad that they concentrated a group of people to shit on them that they can't easily ignore.

Perhaps they are afraid to say it. But they still know it. The Drinker and the rest merely showed them that there are others like them. I will say that many trust their opinions enough to watch or not watch depending on a review from them.

Only Zack is allowed to dislike things.
The writer wrote a very sensible and non combative opinion, but that's not good enough for Zack.
Zack calls people who dislike modern comics "Sad middle age men with hormonal problems unable to enjoy art"
But here's the thing Zack. After we say a comic is shit, we move on with our day.
We have other hobbies, chores, responsabilities and family members to go to. We say we hate things because it's cathartic & we keep our happy family/intimate moments to ourselves.
Zack has nothing and no one in his life. An attack on the crap he enjoys is like an attack on a beloved friend or family member.
This is why he gets so offensive over the smallest thing. Comics, tv and movies are Zack happy place, only positive thoughs.
Otherwise he would have to admit the only thing in his life is trash.

Imagine having so little joy in your life that a guy saying he personally didn't love your funny book hurts your feefees. Imagine that after that you feel the need to attack that guy because he said what he said.
Unrelated to the other posts but dose anyone else find it interesting that Dick is so pathetic and dumb that when he portrays a person as dumber than he is he has to make it sound like they have down syndrome? He tried talking shit about mr.H reviews, problem being Mr.H has a working/middle class English Accent so he sounds smarter than Dick by default.
