Zack doesn't like manga or anime. He tried reviewing One Punch Man, he didn't like it (he seemed to like season 1 somewhat but didn't like season 2). Later he went on a tirade about the manga titles he saw in the book store (basically meme titles like Reincarnated as a Vending Machine or whatever). He is aware that manga is doing better than American comics but he dislikes manga and will not be making the jump. There's a reason why he was pushing X-Men '97 so hard. That's basically what he wants. Comics really had to be thoroughly destroyed to put him in the situation he is now, and he even recently praised a Nick Fury comic that he was shocked by how good it was since it came from modern Marvel. (Honestly, Zack's tastes are so narrow that he doesn't really like DC outside of Batman that much.)

No one liked Season 2. Also, no one asked him to start by going to the deep end with Isekai. Shonen Jump is always a good starting point as while aimed at kids, they are addressing more mature stuff than the American counterparts and in general there is good quality. If he asked around, he could have been pointed at Dragon Ball, the Big 3, YYH, HxH, BC, JJK, MHA (he did read on volume of MHA but come on!), SxF, K no.8 and for non-Shonen Jump stuff, FMA. He could have been eased into the medium but he decided not to. No one asked him to abandon comics but to add manga to it.

I might be biased because DC and Marvel did many stupid things with their characters including some of my favourites so I am going to be especially harsh on them. Eric did not ruin characters I liked so I am more generous.
It's natural, this kind of reaction to nostalgia is maybe why the original comicsgate people such as zack started making videos. I feel like it's maybe more psychological than a woke conspiracy sometimes. Rippa has progressed to doing his own stuff instead of telling a big company what they should do, that's productive. Not like the world needed another superhero universe but it's better than all the time bitching about Marvel/DC.

It's been firmly established that Zack's taste in literally everything is absolute dogshit. Be it food, movies, comics, shoes, cars, or women, you can rest assured that Richard C. Meyer, USMC likes the worst of it. I don't think I've ever heard him mention the music he likes, but I'm going to assume his taste in music is utter shit as well. Or he's a strange person who doesn't like or listen to music. I would buy either possibility. Remember, this is a man who has stated that his entire life path was determined by seeing an issue of G.I. Joe when he was like 8. Sad, but illustrative of Zack's outlook.

That is fair. Though I will argue that the lack of gatekeeping is what causes bad faith actors to appear. If you remember, all of the western entertainment went to shit because we did not gatekeep hard enough. Now, if Eric wants those who provide constructive critisism out, things are different but I do not get that from him. Still, we will see.
