There are some creative bits like that song and funny intros.
Those are all done by one person that goes by "Pierry Chan". Gary is a retard and read his name as "Perry" because he's a retard. When the chat started pointed out that it's probably "pee-AIR-ee" like the French name "Pierre", he and Jeremy decided it was a Twitter conspiracy and forced everyone else on FNT to call him "Perry" too or else the trolls win. This had the effect of utterly confusing his audience and Mr. Chan, who I inquired to at one point regarding the matter. He seemed to take it in stride. People will put up with a lot to stay hitched to the griftwagon.

This new Predator movie is going to throw them for a loop. Early reactions are positive and even Mr H said it was good.
They'll either ignore it or be wrong and then ignore that they were wrong. They are already proudly proclaiming that they're going to ride Amazon's LoTR show until the wheels come off and failing that there's the Game of Thrones spinoff coming soon, too. Plenty to hate. Talking about (non-Rippa) shit they like is already "bad for the algorithm" or something and at least in Gary's case dude spent much time and effort hyping up The Orville and his personal relationship with the show's producer only to find out that Season 3 blew. When asked about the new season on one of his streams he said it was "boring" which is actually the one thing it generally WAS NOT so he managed to avoid making substantive criticism already made by others by leveling one that attacks it's strengths.

@Mister Dongs
The sad part is that ESG is the missing link in his entire thesis on the comicbook business:

Multibillion dollar corporations need some ESG ratings fast. So they get on a race to do the most performative bullshit that will get them there without hurting too much of the botom line.
So Disney and WB get their small fries comic publishing departments to "get more diverse". So they hire the milkshake girls for the entry jobs, they try to add more "divers" characters by genderbending existing brands because there is the only reason they will sell and hire any afrolatinx lesbian they meet on the streets on NY to write a comicbook.
As the quality, predictably, drops, they have to go and defend the bullshit they are asked to do.
Meanwhile, freelancers realize the big two are after "diversity" and virtue signal on twitter so they can get a job.
Or make indie shit believing this is the new trend, if the big two go for it.
Or they try to pitch it to TV/Streaming/movie studios because they are also hunting for the same ESG ratings.
This has nothing to do with their leftist values, because they are happily working with sex pests like Warren Ellis and the might-as-well-be-a-war-criminal former spook Tom King.
Cancellings happen because accusations might get the ESG down.

So comics are ruined because multibillion megacorporations trying to get federal money.
This makes perfect sense for everybody, because following the money gets you from wokeness to profit.

Replies are broken @Mister Dongs but thanks for linking that ESG article again, I had lost it at some point. I have actually used that in the past to show people I know that ESG is actually real and affecting real jobs and businesses, and more importantly investor money. People miss the fact that Batgirl isn't getting cancelled because of wokeness, its getting cancelled because they need to reconsolidate their money drain so they lose less money. These companies are perfectly ok losing money on 'woke' shit, as long as the drain isn't massive. 'Get woke go broke' is a nice saying but it isn't real, otherwise the new LoTR show or WoT show wouldn't exist in the first place. Larger conglomerates like Amazon don't care, as long as the product doesn't lose billions, they will keep on pushing their social message.

Clownfish TV are probably your average old-school democrats that feel alienated by the shift of the party to spouting nonsense about identity politics while shilling for megacorps. As CG went full on right-wing when EVS joined it and brought in any rightwing he could find, most of the democrats/liberals took their distance. I mean, we don't want to be nowhere around the same movement with Methwin or JDA.

As I understand from the tidbits they occassionally drop about themselves on CFtv, Kneon used to be an artist on the Disney Ducks comics.... would have been interesting to see what he could've brought to the table in a group of "edgy" capeshit worshippers like CG...

It's a solid piece of work and, in my opinion, people who disagree with Romano's ideas should at least have the courage to actually address what he's saying instead of just allowing a 50 year old NEET like Simple Zack jerk himself off arguing against a strawman while pretending the formal arguments he's asking for hasn't already been presented.

Speaking of, in a turn that should surprise no one, the Simpcast host had her first full-on, unironic, #MeToo stream tonight...

...These are the people being invited on to drunken streams and drunken meetups and drunken convention parties. You were warned.

On this subject - while half of the Simpcast was hosting a cancellation party for this poor Pat Dixon bastard, the other half (Venti, Mello and Birdie) were hosting a live panel at Anime Matsuri, despite not one of the three having even a passing familiarity with anime. I regret not covering this sooner.

THAT STAR WARS GIRL - 01/08/2022 - SIMPCAST PANEL ANIME MATSURI!

The first thing noticeable in the video is the incredibly poor audio quality coming from Anna TSWG's phone. There's a reason for this - Ashton explains that she and Anna were having a late private party the previous night with Vic Mignogna and others where Anna accidentally threw the livestreaming phone into a hibachi barbecue trying to toss it to Vic. Anna says she was so drunk and high that it seemed like a good at the time. All of this sounds like it's going to bite Vic in the ass sooner rather than later. Maybe the old man hasn't learned his lesson yet, maybe this is all the machinations of Nicky Rackets trying to set up a Weeb Wars 2. One thing though is for sure, and that's that none of this spells anything good for Vic Mignogna.

1659818939716.png

But the Simpcast Anime Matsuri panel was more than just regaling a thin audience of the lowest, thirstiest simps with banal gossip about peripheral ecelebs and extremely marginal industry figures. It was mostly that, yes, but it was also Ashton Birdie's first real trial run as professional a culture war commentator grifter. As we recall, Birdie's first tentative attempts at touring the Comicsgate circuit on Jon Malin's show resulted in little other than feelings of despair & suicide in Art Thibert, Billy Tucci and Frog at having to be subjected to her inane conversation - some fine tuning was needed if she was going to get in on this racket the same she did as the MAGA racket. Being unfamiliar with comics, Star Wars, anime or anything really other than enjoying the Harry Potter franchise, Birdie realizes she needs something if she's to avoid becoming an esaily exploited hanger-on once again, but the odds are against her.

Birdie turns in a virtuoso performance distilling the nature of populism and fandom into its purest essence and weaving both seamlessly into a narrative of class struggle worthy of any Marxist, making several impassioned calumnies to the effect that the rich, privileged, hereditary elite who form modern day Hollywood dynasties, generation after generation ensconsed in the highest echelons of power - the Barrymores, the Douglases, the Kardashians. Cultural critics go on about delivering "authentic perspectives" of minorities and exotic experiences, but how can an incestuous cabal of hereditary elites in Hollywood hope to deliver a true depiction of the common man's lived experiences when they have never tasted struggle, never dealt with real hardship once in their lives themselves Ashton Birdie asks. It is an affront to society. It is an affront to art itself, and it's time the people started doing something about it.

"That's what Comicsgate is doing" helpfully adds Anna.

1659820848621.png

But while Ashton Birdie, Turbobased Culture Warrior went off and the cameraman occupied himself by zooming in on Brittany Venti's tits, one person wasn't holding up nearly as well - Brittany Venti. As someone who has spent years denouncing the impact that coomer culture has had on men, her values were tested like never before over the past few days. At Anime Matsuri she found herself situated at ground zero of the sweatiest of weebs, row after row of cosplay girls peddling their services to the highest bidder, rubbing shoulders the most libertine drawn pornography connoisseurs, Preston Poulter having a booth apparently, and even encountering Spirit Jr in person. What she has witnessed has taken a toll on the e-girl's soul as she finds herself having to justify her dislike of when the show she's watching is constantly interjecting with appeals to "coomers" and "perverts"; the constant injecting of sweaty palmed masturbation fodder ruins her enjoyment of the medium. Since that more or less is much of what Anime Matsuri is a celebration of, Venti finds herself at odds with both her surroundings and what she's found herself to become with her simp pandering.

Finally, one of the dozen or so audience members asks Venti about her Lara Croft costume, to which she says it was a bold protest against the prude moralists who decided the Tomb Raider heroine should have a more "realistic" bust size. Protesting in support of the disgusting coomer catering, as Venti described it not 10 minutes prior. Anna, sensing that the Simpcast is starting to lose the crowd of 10-11 guys, declares an 15 minute early end to the panel and thanks everyone for coming.

'Get woke go broke' is a nice saying but it isn't real
Sadly this. Disney Star Wars was a massive fuck up on almost every level and the biggest admission of failure was "All right, we produced a lot of Star Wars content in a short time we'll tone it down" from Iger, but Kathleen Kennedy is still in charge of all of it. Wheel of Time was a disaster and it got a second season before the first one even aired, LotR is shaping up to be to follow a similar route and they're dead set on doing 5 seasons of it. At the end of the day the problem is that companies like Disney and Amazon are incomprehensibly huge and 1-2 shows or movies failing on their part barely shows a blip when Disney owns half the media companies on the planet and everyone and their mother is buying stuff from Amazon. And I am not saying fucking franchises into the dirt is a good business strategy even from the big boys, people are already tuning out from Marvel and Star Wars was on a massive decline too, but absolutely nothing will prevent them from buying other IPs to fuck those up too, this is what major game publishing studios have been doing on a daily basis for decades and they're doing "fine".

Although Disney shares dropping to half their value over the course of the last 1,5 years is probably keeping a few board members on suicide watch so there's that at least, probably a good indicator why they're doubling down on all the SJW crap if that's what'll get them some extra investment, but I am economically retarded so it's just a wild guess.

I'm sure nobody in this thread gives a shit, but Wheel of Time is going to get at least three seasons. This is confirmed.

Seriously? That first season was a disgrace! Even the SJWs themselves had a hard time defending this show. That’s how bad it was!

On other news Sandman on Netflix is also a steaming pile of shit. If you value your time, you’re gonna want to skip this one. The show is very slow paced and boring. This is coming from a person who has never read the comics and has only an inkling of what they were about Before I watched the show.

It’s real, it’s just not the instant gratification people want it to be.

If it weren’t real, why is Star Wars as a brand basically dead, with zero new movies on the slate? They were planning on releasing a Star Wars movie every single year. If the Disney era hasn’t demonstrably degraded SW’s value, the new content wouldn’t be relegated to a couple shitty streaming shows that lose steam with every new entry.

Big companies like Disney and Amazon have a lot of money so they can afford to tank a few hits, but that doesn’t mean they can keep churning out garbage forever at no detriment to themselves. This kind of stuff has a cost - not just in money, but in reputation. “Netflix adaptation” is already a punchline even among normies, if Disney and Amazon keep it up they can be too.

I believe Kneon was in a Thinking Critical livestream a couple times and was complaining it was too edgy for him and was also offended soebody called his wife a bitch or a THOT.

It is a Netflix show, ofcourse it is going to be slow paced and filled to the brim with filler. I have yet to finish it, but it seems like they have turned 20-page floppies into 50 minute episodes with a lot of padding from sideplots that only a master of overcomplication like David S. Goyer can accomplice.

Stock price collapsing isn't necessarily indicative of even bad product, it could be that the original stock was dramatically overvalued. The collapse of Netflix stock is a good show of this, value has completely collapsed from its peak, yet investors and analyst sites rarely even brought up the quality of Netflix shows as a reason for stock price collapse, it was tons of other things, including the dramatic overvaluation of the stock price. Keep in mind, the retreat of millions from being Netflix subscribers was attributed to correction from pandemic oversubscribing, not anything else, and this was considered such a strong correlation that last quarter when the subscriber loss wasn't as dramatic as Netflix said it would be the previous quarter, the stock price went up. Quality of product (meaning original content Netflix makes) was basically never even brought up in the discussions of loss of subscribers.

I was a huge Star Wars fan, such that I read tons of books, played basically every game, etc (Kreia was and still is right about everything btw). I no longer care about Star Wars and feel only apathy. This wasn't caused by 'wokeness' on the part of the sequel trilogy, thought that was a cause, it was more the completely garbage story telling. This is something everyone in this 'sector' talk about constantly, and that is they want politics out of their media. The problem with this is, many of the best media of all time was almost explicitly political. Look at how fervently and how often people praise so many of the war protest songs of the 60s, along with Woodstock. Beethoven's 'Eroica' is arguably a musical celebration of the political enlightenment of the age, though Beethoven later decided he didn't like Napoleon crowning himself Emperor (went against the revolutionary/enlightenment ideal in his mind'. Heinlein's work is famous for how explicitly he talks about his particular libertarian ideals, including his unique ideas on sexual liberation. 'The Moon is a Harsh Mistress' is actually the novel that really made me realize that media can be explicitly political, and have explicit political overtures that I personally disagree with and I think are wrong, but those political messages aren't what makes a piece of media good or bad, it is the quality of the work itself. TMIAHM is genuinely a brilliant piece of writing, and even thought the political elements are rather blatant, it is done in a way that explicitly moves the plot of the book forward, and the story and characters are written so well that the political messaging isn't the part of the book that enjoyment hinges on.
To bring it back to Star Wars, the current state of SW is due to how badly written the sequel trilogy was, not the overt politics. The absurd messaging in 'The Last Jedi' was a crowning patty on the dung heap of the rest of the film, but even if the political messaging was toned down the film would still be horrible, because the writing was horrible.
I apologize for the essay, but to turn this into something more actionable, I think Rippaverse (and other counter-culture/reactionary works) should actually not shy away from being political, and in fact maybe should be EXPLICITLY political. If you want to win a culture war, how can you win if you never create a piece of art that gives a vision of what culture you actually want? Trying to dehydrate all messaging out of your story won't help any cultural message you want to broadcast. Have characters that show the value of strong family values, the value of men being men and women being women, the value in rejecting promiscuity and materialism, etc. The state our culture is in now is primarily due to promotion of bad values FROM media, why would you want to effectively concede the strongest power you have in the culture war, namely media, by trying to excise all politics from it?
Didn't want to have 6 paragraphs in a post as this is supposed to be about laughing at internet retards not solving the world's problems, but a good example of a piece of positive cultural media is the 'Adventures in Odyssey' radio show from Focus on the Family. I probably listen to hundreds of hours of those shows in car trips as a kid, and while I wouldn't call myself religious anymore (even though FotF is an explicitly Christian organization) a lot of the messages and themes of those shows have stuck with me, because of how well the show was written, voice acted, and mastered with sound effects, etc. That piece of media has had a strong effect on trying to instill and promote the cultural values that FotF wants to spread, and while I wouldn't say CYBERFROG should address the reader and give an overt spiel about the value of going to church, you could be more subtle than that and still potentially start to swing the needle back, especially on people that might not agree with your cultural values now.

Stocks of entertainment studios/streaming have nothing to do with quality of entertainment.
However, when your brand (Netflix, Star Wars) gets a reputation of "garbage no-one wants to watch" sales do dry up and investors start to sweat.
SW went from "we will throw garbage at paypiggies and they will eat it up" to "too expensive entertainment that failed to make huge profits" and this can drive stock prices down to the point that Federal money may not be able to cover for.

But i do agree with @Rodeo Roadrunner that it is not politics, some of the most beloved movies of recent years (Fury Road, Parasites, Joker) were unapologetically political but they were also great stories you could enjoy watching. A lot of the "woke" stuff is just filler to have them playing while browsing twitter - which may explain why they do trend so much on twitter.

Quick question:

Does anybody know if @PocketJacks showed up at Anime Matsuri? He seemed to suggest he was going, but he might have been full of shit and attempting to intimidate @FROG. I just figured I'd ask.

I asked users who went to Matsuri if they saw @PocketJacks in artist alley, but they couldn't confirm it.

I know you're a BASED CHAD but woke is not a synonym for garbage. So no, go woke go broke isn't real.

Frog had the position of top fundraiser of July with a second chance campaign for the long overdue Cyberfrog: Rekt Planet, proving that there are at least 1500 backers on top of the original 11,000 that are a mixture of completionists and newcomers since April 2021 when the first Rekt Planet campaign closed.

You can top that with 2023s Rekt Planet campaign, @FROG. I believe in you.

woke is not a synonym for garbage

Absolutely right. It's a synonym for shit.
