"Multiple people were shot on Wednesday inside a Walmart in a Denver suburb, local police said.

Police in Thornton, Colorado, did not release any information about any of the victims and it was not clear if an assailant had been taken into custody. Thornton is about 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Denver.

"We've got multiple parties down, we're still trying to ascertain what their conditions are," Officer Victor Avila of the Thornton Police Department told Reuters.

The store had been "self-evacuated" by customers and employees who fled following the gunfire, Avila said.

Police later said on Twitter that it was no longer an active shooter situation, but there was an active crime scene.

Reports of shots fired came shortly before 6:30 p.m. Mountain Time, a police spokesman told local 9NEWS in Denver.

An hour after the incident, the situation, the nature of the incident or status of the threat remained unclear, he said.

Local television images showed a number of police cars and ambulances surrounding the store, lights flashing.

Local media reported that one person was shot and killed, while another was badly wounded.

Police were reported to be looking for two suspects.

One employee, who was not identified, told local media he heard at least five or six shots.

"I started to hear loud pops, and it kept going. Everybody got down, everybody was screaming..." he said.

Local NBC affiliate 9NEWS reported that a woman whose son was in Walmart had told her that he had heard about 30 gunshots and was still inside.

A video posted on Twitter showed the store apparently empty except for police officers with guns drawn."

THORTON, Colo. (FOX 13) - Police in Colorado are on the scene of a reported shooting at a Walmart, but say they are now dealing with a crime scene and not an active shooter situation.

The Thorton, Colorado Police Department tweeted around 6:30 p.m. local time there was a shooting at Walmart on Grant Street and "multiple parties" were down.

It was unclear if "down" meant shot, injured, or something else.

The Aurora Police Department's chief tweeted that SWAT assistance was being sent to the scene.
The view from a nearby hilltop showed dozens of law enforcement and emergency vehicles.

Denver television station FOX 31 KDVR was live at the scene speaking with witnesses who reported hearing loud pops.

So this is what I waste my 666th message on...

I can't believe Russian Deadpool escaped prison to bring his full revenge to the general public instead of just the woman he was abusing.

What the fuck are you talking about? This was obviously the work of that dastardly villain Sam Hyde.

What do you expect when your logo has a fucking muzzle flash in it? Seriously, it's almost been ten years, so why not drop that shit like many other brands?

Don't even get me started on Target. It's self-explanatory.

The Twatters are already lighting up claiming this was terrorism.

Motherfucker, if no actual political motive can be discerned from this it ain't terrorism!

Also I'd laugh so hard if they were pushing the terrorism angle, only for it to turn out to be a black muslim, just to watch them backtrack.

I really hope the person who died went quickly. Not because of the pain but because no one’s final thoughts should be “I’m dying in fucking Wal-Mart.”

Someone didn't get their low prices today it seems.
