Anyone have experience with the Aeropress? I don’t have the counter space for a proper machine, never mind a grinder too, so its relative versatility is appealing. Input on the Fellow Prismo attachment vs the one the company itself has started selling would also be appreciated.

I got one. I highly recommend. There is an 'upside down' method for getting extra crema that is awesome.
When I have special coffee - it's my 'go-to' method.

I highly recommend. It's better for you also. Why?
There is a cholesterol analogue that is present in coffee when made in a french press. However, a paper or cloth filter removes this chemical. I read an article in Nature or Sci American... can't member...

I also tried making my own filters - didn't work. Just buy them.

Ordered it, the official pressure attachment, and a metal filter in case the paper ones get hard to find. I’m generally not one to put much stock in pop-sci magazines, especially after the bullshit from the last few years. Still need to get a hand grinder. Not wild about the electirc one I found above the fridge.

i need to get myself a french press and a grinder at some point. buying a 64oz cold brew for 6 bucks every 2 weeks isnt that good a deal in the long run

Not really a cold brew fan myself but near to someone who is and I know I've seen coffee spergs at reddit say that a good grind makes no difference on a cold brew, use a blender or between a couple rocks and it's fine. Something about when you're doing high heat and much faster times that's when you worry about grains being too small getting overextracted or too big getting underextracted.

Also without a french press you can just put everything in a jar or a pitcher and filter through a towel (or a paper napkin if you want no grit.) Or for full luxury gay space coldbrew, amazon has filter bags you tie up that hold around 50g, you put in a pitcher and throw away the next day.

I get my coffee from a shop in UNDISCLOSED EUROPEAN COUNTRY because it was the best coffee/tea shop I ever visited. I just ring them up every few months and ask for ten or so bags of beans - I let them choose which ones, except the Brazilian one they have there that is fucking awesome - to be posted to me, and I grind them myself and use a cafetiere/French press. They always put in a little something extra for me to try out, and last time they actually sent me some cups that I'm quite enamoured with. Don't drink too much coffee, but I like one or two cups in the morning, and maybe one in the afternoon on a day off. I just drink it black. I used to use a Nespresso machine, but the ease of PUSH BUTTON, RECEIVE COFFEE had me drinking waaaay too much of the stuff.

Has anyone heard of that coffee from Asia someplace that's grown from beans retrieved from monkey shit or something? I tried some last week and it was bland as all hell. Not sure what I expected from monkey arse coffee but I was a bit disappointed.

Is this some sorta early-journo-ai div/0 error? I saw something formatted like/same alien feel as this recently on another subject, I can't remember what but today it's coffee.

It just says probable copy-pasted variations of the same thing over and over, no research or taste tests just don't put sugar in, will effect extraction. ....you may like sugar but not like this, don't fuck up ur extraction...SCIEMCE! Her ears look human?

I've got one. It's labor-intensive compared to a drip coffee maker, but I like it because it's easy to adjust the strength with the grounds/water ratio and a little practice. I like my coffee bitter and for that it can't be beat.

You're locked into buying their filters because of the form factor, but the amount they give you (and in the boxes) last a long time.

It's versatile, and is my last resort to getting a good brew if I can't make a particular batch of beans work.

It's not my first choice but I had some pretty good coffee with it. I tried some medium roasted Columbian. Upside down, moka pot grind size, 90 sec infusion, 20g coffee 100g 85C water. It made for a fine Aeropresso.

There's also the 15 min steep that I like with lighter roasts when I can't get good cups with pour over.

Attachments, I don't have any, so I cannot comment.

As for me, I decided to give my mokapot another shot and it's been working well for me. I got some pulped naturals from Brazil and I couldn't make good pour overs with it. I ground finer, wet the grounds, packed a little tightly (16g), and pre heated the water to 80C. I cut the extraction short and when I get things right (because mokapots are a bitch to get right), I get about 75g of concentrated coffee with all the usual South American coffee taste with almost no bitterness.

I'm tempted to try making a Pedro Pascal with it.

Following up from this. I've managed to organize my shit and have things situated for more automated options now. Does anyone have a preference on an electric espresso grinder? I'm probably picking up a manual espresso machine because I'm an autist and hand grinding espresso sounds like hell.

I hate to say it kiwisisters but I'm turning into a coffee snob. I went to a local roaster/Cafe recently and sampled some different beans and holy shit I've been missing out. If you haven't tried natural process beans, I recommend it.

I had an espresso made from Colombian natural process light roast and if I was blindfolded I wouldn't have guessed it was coffee. I'm a convert.

I don't get the last sentence. You had an espresso made from regular coffee - and it was as rich as espresso?

Im a huge coffee snob, I only drink one brand, and I have 4 cups black every workday. Its delicious and a bit expensive but I wouldnt trade it for anything.
