CNN has fired its highest-rated prime time anchor, Chris Cuomo, who had been suspended by the network for his actions in support of his brother, the former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo’s decision to take part in strategy calls as then-Governor Cuomo battled sexual harassment allegations violated CNN guidelines.

CNN President Jeff Zucker announced the move in a message to employees late Saturday. In a statement released by the network, Zucker said “Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother's defense. We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately. While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light. Despite the termination, we will investigate as appropriate.”

The network had been under pressure to act more forcefully with Cuomo, whose work in support of his brother crossed the line for a journalist, and many journalists inside CNN were angered by the Cuomo Prime Time host’s decision to put his brother over CNN’s reputation.

On his SiriusXM radio show Wednesday, Cuomo said he understood that CNN had “a process that they think is important. I respect that process.”

Cuomo’s future was drawn into question last week, following the release of thousands of pages of documents by New York attorney general Letitia James. The documents detailed, as CNN has reported, “that Chris Cuomo, while working as one of CNN's top anchors, was also effectively working as an unpaid aide to the governor.”

A report Saturday by the network’s Brian Stelter concluded that “the cozy and improper nature of the relationship was conveyed through text messages obtained by James' office. The texts between the anchor and several aides and allies of the governor revealed that Chris Cuomo sought to use his connections in the press to help prepare Andrew Cuomo's team as accusers started to make their stories public.”

im surprsied CNN and MSNBC haven't started paying money to netflix and hulu to livestream their news on their platform, since people are moving to online, they could alter the program to fit the platform.

because in all honesty they shouldnt be trying to compete with netflic and hulu and all the platforms
because they are essentially ad free cable providers, like cable used to be when it started.
CNN isn't competing with Direct TV, Comcast or Dish. those are platforms that allow them onto their package,

According to Wikipedia, the mother made it into the National Women's Hall of Fame, whatever that's for. Mothers of sex pests, maybe?

NEW YORK, NY—The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting a drastic rise in the unemployment rate among brothers in the Cuomo family, saying it has increased to a record 100%. "This is unprecedented among Cuomos," said BLS Commissioner Bob Labor. "Contributing factors may include a struggling economy, as well as the fact that they're both corrupt skeezy pervs."

CNN and MSNBC make more money via ads streaming and posting stuff on Youtube plus their own websites.

Canned CNN host Chris Cuomo has fired back at the network — accusing his boss of knowing everything about his involvement in trying to quash ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s sex scandal.

In a new statement, a spokesman for the fallen TV star threw his longtime ally CNN President Jeff Zucker under the bus, while insisting the journalist “has the highest level of admiration and respect” for him.

“They were widely known to be extremely close and in regular contact, including about the details of Mr. Cuomo’s support for his brother,” the spokesman told the Wall Street Journal Sunday of Chris Cuomo’s shady support for his big brother as the governor’s sex scandal unfolded.

“There were no secrets about this, as other individuals besides Mr. Cuomo can attest,” the spokesman added.

The statement, however, prompted CNN to slam Chris Cuomo for peddling more alleged lies.

“He has made a number of accusations that are patently false,” the network told the WSJ. “This reinforces why he was terminated for violating our standards and practices, as well as his lack of candor.”

While Zucker had stood by Cuomo for months amid calls for his firing, the final straw reportedly came when a trove of documents showed that the host’s behind-the-scenes meddling to help his embattled brother went far beyond what he had admitted on-air.

Insiders told The Post the journalist was canned after CNN learned of new allegations of sexual misconduct against him.

Zucker had long been one of Cuomo’s biggest champions at the network, having hired him as one of his first major moves after arriving there in 2013 and then promoting him to prime time in 2018, the WSJ noted.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he even called Cuomo “the perfect cable news anchor.”

That allegiance initially continued even as others at the network called for the star’s firing when it first became clear he had meddled in his brother’s scandal while still hosting his show.

In a virtual town hall with staffers in May, Zucker conceded that Cuomo had “made a mistake” but said suspending him would be “punishment for the sake of punishing,” the WSJ said.

Cuomo was eventually suspended and then fired after documents released by New York Attorney General Letitia James showed he contacted news industry sources for information and sought details about at least one of his brother’s accusers.

At the same time, Cuomo was also accused of misleading viewers with his on-air statements of support of victims of sexual harassment — even though he was accused by a former colleague of being a harasser.

“Hearing the hypocrisy of Chris Cuomo’s on-air words and disgusted by his efforts to try to discredit these women, my client retained counsel to report his serious sexual misconduct against her to CNN,” Debra Katz, a lawyer for the anonymous accuser, told the WSJ.

Cuomo has denied allegations of sexual misconduct, which CNN said it would investigate “as appropriate.”
