Ok, is this one of those "X WILL END THE INTERNET SCARES" or is there anything actually too this? I don't keep up with shit and people spout so much alarmist nonsense it can be nearly impossible to tell if a problem is even real or not, much less significant.

I don't think anyone will know for sure until there's a test case and the court rules on its validity.

The ability to bypass the checks and balances of various legal systems isn't a good thing, though.
 
I can't say I'm a lawyer or even play one on TV but this probably has to be said remember cloud computing just means storing your stuff on someone else's computer.

It always has and always will. Now it's probably even easier to "borrow" your data on other people's networks.
 
This looks like the electronic surveillance version of "rendition" sites in third world countries. Basically giving, say, the Thai Electronic Police the freedom to collect data about US citizens because they're not US agencies, and then feed that data to US agencies, thus avoiding the whole "having to follow US laws" thing.
