there are toys alredy. such as my example of a cupcake-turtle. i don't recall exactly. but some kid's pay to use, closed species adoptable was a turtle+food. found a toy just like it, posted with "so you going to go after them?"

pet+snack sounds cute, but as a "this is species of fox is also part icecream, nobody knows how the biology works" gets dumb, or weird. then of course, there is the idea that we should have edible pets. if worst comes to frutition, you're going to need to eat your best bud.

I wanted in on it. one thing these adoptables closed species needs is lore. I forgot what my Avivittles had. they have gems that make them sentient, or "part food". bird races are rare in the adopts community, and more rare when "it's also food"

so, the one and only Avivittle, made by me.

Too late, gonna show some of their abominations here:

I'd have to admit, you'd be great at designing monsters for a horror game or something, @bonitoflakeprincess

I had an ED page on me years ago. so I'm used to it

the land seal moose thing was for a "design me something and win"

the Mewdabranch was my attempt at wanting into this "closed species". nobody had kitty-cat seaslugs. why not? there are cats with teacup heads or what not.

waterbabies are the mermaid you don't want

Wait, you somehow had a ED page?
How?

Imagine spending good money for permission to use a fictional species that probably isn't even copyrighted. Fucking furries, man.
a few have a trademark (such as those shooshi/sushi dogs, for those who might be older and more busniess savvy. I just then wonder if anyone knows the legal loopholes to make knock offs.

you don't copyright an idea, only the form it takes.

It's not even the form it takes, it's the name. That's ALL they CAN trademark (for the most part). It's why you can have Beholders in your game, as long as you call them something else. Same with Illithids. It's also why the Tolkien estate sued TSR and won over Balrogs and Hobbits. Change the name to Balron (or vice versa, I can never remember) and Halflings, you're good to go.

You can trademark logos or slogans too, if I recall correctly, but not an image that's able to change. It's why anything parodying McDonalds changes the name (and slightly alters the logo); and why knock offs ALWAYS have a slightly different name.

Those casin0s/pajuxi mignyan/dainty collaboration adoptables have been sold, and they were IMMEDIATELY autobought for $1500.

Speaking of mignyans, I found this on a closed species drama blog. unfortunately there's no pictures as proof so I'm not sure if this is true but still a little interesting

I was wondering when someone was going to mention this, it's not an exaggeration either, two people looked at these images and without even hesitating said to themselves "yes, I am going to give this person $1500". These two should collab for life if they can get suckers to pay that kind of money for their brain-babies. Good thing the sellers made sure to make the design "super duper rare" or I'd be worried that it was a total waste of money.

How? This is literally just Mettaton.
Exactly what I was thinking. It's just metatron with a wardrobe change and deer legs. I cannot believe they got away with that without someone starting drama. But I guess it's ok to rip designs if it's from something popular and not in their community.

This is just a case of people wasting their money on a brand-name. They are not paying for a full-fledged and three-dimensional character but they are paying for bragging rights because "this two important artists from CS Community created this character so look at how cool I am now that I own it!".

People do this with designer shoes and bags all the time, but for some reason this feels even worse. The two artists in question do not even offer any sort of extras if you pay such an exaggerated amount of money for it (I know some of these adoptable-sellers include extra art pieces or commissions when someone ABs), they know its their name what gets them the cash.

the thing that sometimes gets me is like... these are generally artists buying the characters. even if they're amateurs, they can still design characters themselves. it's not like an average joe buying designer fashion they don't have the skills to create themselves; they may have the skills and the tools but instead they want the clout that spending all that money on a "brand name" design gets them. it's kinda sad, really.

that's also why i've never bought a design myself (though i have traded for one or two before). i look at something i like, even by an artist more skilled than me, and i think "why would i bother? i can do that, and make it more meaningful to me."

I always felt like that if an artist puts up art for sale and someone buys it, then good for them. Nobody is forcing them to spend 1500 on a piece of art. They price their art this way cause they know someone is willing to buy it. However, I imagine they would regret it much later when something like a broken tooth needs fixing, but don't have the money cause they spent it on adoptable. You can't go to the dentist and present an anime girl drawing as payment cause it was 'worth' 1500 when you bought it. That's just me, but some people have the disposable cash to spare for this kinda thing.

I've seen perfectly stable adoptable groups who just seem to want to have a fun time. When creators start getting a god complex and do shit like revoke the rights to a piece of art that someone paid money for because they got angry over something stupid is when it's time to bring out the mocking. The thing I find happening the most is creators attacking people for 'stealing' their ideas because someone drew something similar through sheer innocence. It's enough to put someone into an early grave with how much they scream and obsessively search for things to bitch about. I don't envy them at all because that money comes with a price that they are paying for.
