they do it too because it's easier to get a trademark on this, profit on "make your own, pay me $50 more and it can have a horn" because it's easier and cheaper than making a new toy and with more freedom. they can't make their own turtle-ferret dolls, so they just sell the adoptable.
When I saw the name "Lumens" I thought you might be talking about these things...

Look at this absolute gem from the comment's section of the Off-Brand Species DA account.
Apparently making off-brand designs is comparable to shoplifting.

More Closed Species...

Couple things. First, anyone with a cupkitty should probably be on a watchlist. Second, are you sure those pubes aren't like their magical demon dicks or some shit?

Additionally those USB cat things would be laughed off Gaia Online, which is fucking impressive.

:story:

Are you sure about that, buddy?
i have a cracker jack prize (they aren't even toys anymore?) level of knowledge in this area. Mike Mozart was going to make a video series on some copyright, never checked it out, or indulge in copyright education videos

so these rip off legalities might just be more ethics. which is ironic because I've seen a few dolls that looked/reminded me of a closed species from DA (these were mostly characters from a toyline) so that is kind of ironic, that their "do not steal, do not rip off, pay $60 to make your own, or buy this one orange themed muffincat", is possibly a rip off it's self.

I wanted a part of this. but my PR is terrible

color your own, pay to color.

just kidding. I don't deserve the money

More Closed Species...

Rate me austistic (or MOTI) if you must, but the first thing I noticed about the cupkitties was the NOT A HORSE TAIL. That's NOT how horse tails are, what the hell is wrong with you have you not seen a horse ever. That's a donkey/zebra/giraffe tail (if I'm giving them credit for a similar animal) or a lion tail if I'm not.

I just realized they probably mean 'unicorn' tail, which is still stupid, because a lot of them have normal horse tails.

I also just don't get the idea of food/drink animals/pets/whatever unless you're into vore, but these are so cute-looking. Is it setting up for some Happy Tree Friends shit? Or am I just jaded at this point....

there are toys alredy. such as my example of a cupcake-turtle. i don't recall exactly. but some kid's pay to use, closed species adoptable was a turtle+food. found a toy just like it, posted with "so you going to go after them?"

pet+snack sounds cute, but as a "this is species of fox is also part icecream, nobody knows how the biology works" gets dumb, or weird. then of course, there is the idea that we should have edible pets. if worst comes to frutition, you're going to need to eat your best bud.

I wanted in on it. one thing these adoptables closed species needs is lore. I forgot what my Avivittles had. they have gems that make them sentient, or "part food". bird races are rare in the adopts community, and more rare when "it's also food"

so, the one and only Avivittle, made by me.

i'm a huge snob/nit-picker about accuracy when it comes to animals (anatomy and/or behavior), so i'm with you on this. that's fucking stupid. if they meant unicorn they should've said unicorn.

hell, it's not even accurate to a donkey/zebra, as their tails don't taper like that--neither does a lion's, along with a lion's tail tuft not being that fluffy. it's closest to a giraffe's, but isn't a good rendition of one.

I'm currently losing it over the fact that they can only hold one (1) utensil. Two forks is just too fucking heavy for their baby moe hands I guess. Their fingers just automatically crumble into dust the second their hands make contact with more than one object.
