i love this thread so far, closed species and adoptables are very dumb lmao. This might be a bit OT, but i found this on tumblr and wanted your opinions. I think its a very simple(and ugly imho) design for the potential price. This design was bought on the Lioden forums, Lioden being a pet site with its own drama, but gb/gold beetles are the premium currency and the lowest amount buyable is 20gb for 10usd.
Is this design worth 10-ish dollars?

Honestly, it seems like a very standard design when it comes to random creature adopts (Not adopts that are apart of a specific species, but are just kind of their own freaks of nature). The art and design is just fine, albeit a bit simple but better than being stupidly over complicated. I personally wouldn't pay $10 for it, and the resolution of the art itself is low quality, which If I were to pay money for any piece of art I'd expect the resolution to be high quality. I can see how someone felt like it was worth the price, though. (Unless the design was made on a free to use base. Then fuck that.)

2gb for a dollar, that would make this only 6 bucks. No shit it is worth less than 10, would bet that it's a base design no less.
You said something about Lioden having its own share of drama. I found a few confession tumblrs like this one, and a blog wholly dedicated to observing the mods' behaviors. A little deaded but the confession tumblr is active and other than that nothing out of the ordinary.

Anyway, back to deep diving

Given how popular Pajuxi and CASIN0's is, if these adopts are auctioned (And they probably will be), we can expect these adopts to potentially sell for well over 500$ more than likely going over 1000$
 
As previously stated, it's totally true that most of these adoptable are not re-drawable. They are over-designed for the sake of catching your eye, but as far as the character itself, it really has no future. You're essentially paying $500 for a drawing that was made on the same base as 100 other drawings.

A character should be unique and stand out without being over-designed or overly colorful. The characters that have unique, tasteful features and neutral colors are always more practical. Reminds me of one of the main criticisms of Hazbin Hotel.

These rainbow sparkle gradient dogs immediately go into the toyhou.se dump after being purchased.
