I hate to say it but the reason it's like this is because all of these communities are run by women. Catty bickering and incessant interpersonal drama is what fills the lives of otherwise empty middle-aged or nearly-middle-aged women with stunted family lives. Though they might not say they do, most of them probably find the constant churn of these social blenders to be fun. It's the most interesting struggle for power they can have. It's stuff like this that entertains me with the closed species community. Not the characters, the world-building or making friends with other artists.
These types of communities seem like they're made for drama rather than community building cuz there's so much controlling, dictatorship and mobbing that everything you do is catalogued for later bribery.
As an outsider, the drama is what I associate with these sparkledogs communities.
You get the same sort of power posturing and fake-struggle in manchild dominated communities too, and for the same reasons (lack of meaning in their real lives) but it usually has a different focus and outlet. Like politics or religion.
