you're not wrong with that idea; people can just take designs from anyone and repost them. however, it's often frowned upon throughout the community and typically gets you ostracized by others once you're made aware to steal designs. just callouts and other things on whatever social media it's deemed necessary to do so by artists.

ofc it's a really weird double standard since stealing official designs from games, shows, etc. is allowed (and even encouraged in some groups; "kinsonas" are really weird) but not even taking the slightest hint of inspiration from another artist. some of the things you commonly see on TH warning pop-ups are "don't colorpick", which is just using the same color palette as another character.

if you've seen earlier in this thread, there are some people who decide to make open species/knock-offs/myos of closed species without having the slots for it and they're almost always put on the oh-so terrifying public blacklists for the species. it just decreases your chances of getting proper commissions by the cult followers who'd shell out hundreds of dollars for a dog with closed eyes just because it's a closed species.

It seems to be someone with the discord username “sus”. Cross referencing with the Dainty Discord (since the mignyans and dainty idiot groups seems to go hand in hand and they’re of course in the dainty discord) the only social media I can find for them is their toyhouse which is literally also called “sus”. Waiting on the announcement in the mignyan discord but they sure are taking their sweet ass time. They’re currently the only one typing in a read-only channel which leads me to believe they bought it and now hold ownership of the species and the server itself

Nah, I’ve been around the platform to know that susling is a completely different person from CASIN0S (this is also very apparent if you check out their dA and compare their art style with Nicole’s). With this change in hand, I wonder if the species will die off slowly. I assume one of the biggest things holding it together was that a big name artist was creator and selling designs.

These are my new favourite cows. They're not even selling art, or even the permission to make art, they're selling the permission to post art like it on deviantart without people complaining. I want to call it a scam or a con job but it's far superior to that, these people are paying thousands of dollars for nothing and loving it. Oh I've heard of Prismbattery. They're in/were in the midveiler group and dainties I think. Nothing really special but it all comes down to how well the moderate.

I think the best way to help stop the potential of another nuke being dropped would be to have roles put on people when they enter. A minor and an adult one. Also have a general chat for both with stricter moderation and then a more adult only chat for members who don't want to talk to the minors. If these people will implement it who knows given the fact it's hard to tell how many of these people are even adults.

I've seen people who would lament about the absolutely exorbitant prices these kinds of things would go to, yet some would still buy them anyway. It still baffles me why someone'd even pay for such a thing at such a price, but I'd be wrong if I said I wasn't completely fascinated with seeing the kinds of cheap designs these people try put out for sale. I don't think I've ever seen a single one that impressed me, most of them make me laugh my ass off.

The real question is why would you do it? The only reason people buy and post these things is for asspats, so if you know you're not gonna get any (by virtue of having "stolen" it), why even bother?

Because some people are retarded enough to think making people kind of annoyed on the Internet is a valid replacement for an actual personality so they put copious amounts of effort in to doing it.

This is why the farms has a “no gayops” rule, because in virtually every situation save something hilarious and oddly wholesome like crowdfunding sending CWC a box of goodies, doing shit like this just makes a person as much of a cow as they people they’re trying to piss off.
