M25 junctions blocked by Insulate Britain campaigners

Police make more than 40 arrests at a series of co-ordinated protests around the motorway.

Climate change protesters blocked five M25 junctions, causing long tailbacks and disruption for motorists.
There were protests at junctions 20 for Kings Langley, Herts, 14 for Heathrow terminal four, three for Swanley in Kent, six for Godstone, Surrey and 31 for Lakeside, Essex.
They have since been reopened but police said 42 people were arrested.
Protest group Insulate Britain tweeted it was "disrupting the M25" to "demand the government insulate Britain".
A government spokeswoman condemned the protests and said it was supporting people to install energy efficiency measures in their homes.
Hertfordshire Police said 18 people were arrested after officers were called to a protest near junction 20 at about 08:00 BST.
Supt Adam Willmot said: "Protesters ignored police requests to move location, so we took robust action to enable roads to be reopened and to remove the protesters causing obstructions."
The force closed the slip roads in both directions, which led to "congestion and delays on both the M25 and the A41", but the closures had lifted by 10:20 BST.

Essex Police said 12 people were arrested after it was called to reports that a number of people were blocking the road near junction 31 just before 08:15 BST.
It said officers worked to resolve the situation "quickly and safely", which included shutting the slip road temporarily.
Ch Insp Paul Austin said the action caused "significant disruption" and thanked drivers for their "patience and understanding."

Kent Police has confirmed that 12 people were arrested at junction three where the B2173 and the M25 meet, near Swanley.
It said it was called at 08:10 BST to a group of people obstructing the roundabout.

The bloke funding it is a property developer with close ties to the Tories, so almost certainly a homegrown government operation to allow Priti to force through some draconian anti-protest laws.

Reminds me of when those Extinction Rebellion wonks climbed on top of a train and said that they did it in the morning rush hour because they didn't want to take away workers good time, with families or leisure but only the working time when they wouldn't want to be there. Showing if there were any doubt that they have no experience of the ordinary working class life - no knowledge of three strikes you're out rules, pay by the hour or even, gasp, pride in your work.

They blocked Queensway, right in the centre of the "clean air zone", as if all the diversions and road works in the city aren't bad enough already. That road is always rammed with commuters because of how poorly designed it is; even something as small as a car braking abruptly can turn it into a car park for an hour.

Extinction Rebellion already protest near Manchester, it's one more area they get away with this shit. 20 years ago the police would be getting calls about missing persons days later rather than anything about the roads being blocked.

They mostly stick to Piccadilly Gardens/the unis and pointless graffiti that gets painted over straight away though.

I do praise the drivers for driving around the cunts however. Save the Toff bashing for a funnier venue.
 
I recently was helping guide some traffic with some other helpful sorts when someone got hit by a car rendering a road closed while we waited for the police to get near. Some of the drivers literally said to me "you'd best not be with Extinction Rebellion."

One of their delusional morons tried to claim that if their peaceful protests were taken from them they'd get violent. The public will cream them if they try it. Protesting Amazon is safer for them.

Yeah but they’re serving prison time now so I doubt saying that just before being sentenced helped them at all.

Last time any sort of violence erupted at an XR protest, a bunch of them got thrown off the roof of a train. Besides, they're currently sending speds and disabilty allowance claimants out to do their scut work, because they're the only people stupid enough to take XR/insulate britain seriously.
