It is done.
I'm only missing the one with level 99.
Great fucking game.
Now, I'll just let the ending sit and rattle in my brain, while theories and thoughts take hold.

On a side note, if you fight Simon, don't take the journal log, and you exit game. When you come back again, he's still there, keeping that log from your grubby little hands.
That's fucking right, I had to kill him twice.
Same strategy worked again.
Fuck your parry, I'll just beat you with my sweaty-ness.

I read it as Alicia already knowing what is going on in painted Alicia's mind and letting her go. She is affected, but she also knows it is for the best and is at peace with that, while Verso "fuck everyone the kid has to stop painting" Dessendre wants to convince her to live even as he's planning to betray everyone. And it doesn't matter if Alicia plays pretend or not, the lumiere people are still real.

The details are of course impossible to know for sure since the exact nature of painting magic isn't explained, but it seems that Renoir and others see them as unique beings, not just as simulations. He just wants his family back. If that means genociding a pocket dimension, then he's going to genocide that pocket dimension.
The saddest part of the game is that the genocide could've been avoided if Aline and Alicia weren't fucking crackheads who would happily abandon their loved ones for a world where they can play God.

The impression I've gotten is that Verso doesn't want the Canvas to live under the whims of Painters anymore, there's a few clues pointing to it: his journal entry and what Alicia did to her Painted counterpart.
I think genocide was his way of "freeing" the Canvas, better die free than live under the whims of higher beings, at least from his perspective.

Who will get race swapped or played by in the movie?
Sciel: random african voodoo kween
Sophie: love interest that lives in Gustav's heart forever? Only Juliet can play her. View attachment 7342871
Lune: Too easy, Zendaya.
Maelle: the down syndrome girl from GoT/TLOU
imagine getting mad at something that didn't happen yet. I don't think they can keep themselves from smearing niggers all over it, as usual, but if they don't I know the movie has a chance to be good.

A bunch of Belle Epoque crap?
I know right, what happened to medieval fantasy, we need more of that.

I’m in a cantankerous/odd mood and didn’t really mean what I said. Because I actually like the Belle Epoque. I was going to get Lies of P at some point for that.
Expedition 33 is more fantasy than Belle Epoque: The starting city is essentially splintered-off Paris but on the mainland it's much more fantasy-based with ruins from the original city scattered here and there.
Lies of P is mostly contained within the same city, with a few detours outside it. The DLC seems to be following this trend while taking a very Artorias of the Abyss style approach aka Time Travel shenanigans.

I think both are fantastic settings for different reasons so it's kind of personal preference as to which one you'd like.

I think I missed how exactly was
Verso's death Alicia's fault. How exactly did she cause the burning of the building? Or was this not explained?

details are limited. Alicia spent time with the writers and the writers guild decided to use her to attack the painters. The arson of the mansion was part of that. The fire crippled her and killed Verso.

I'm finally getting Maelle to do some disgusting damage. She mogs the rest of the party so hard on damage it's kind of ridiculous.

Also is there a good place to grind money for some of these shops? Some of them require up to about a million chroma PER SHOP. It's getting ridiculous.

Lies Of P is really good. The best Souls game since DS1 imo. What is it with first time devs that have Belle Epoque artstyles hitting it out of the park now that I think of it. The only thing Round8 had worked on previously was a port job for some grindfest MMO. Oh and also Lies Of P just like E33 has fantastic music.

Few hours into act 3. While I like the freedom of exploration before the final battle, it's frustrating to bump your head into dungeons seeing if you can beat them or not. Especially as it's not clear to me at what level I'll start overgrinding and ruin the final fight. For now I have the character quests, but even with them I get a warning before entering a dungeon, only for it to be relatively easy.

It was, but you have to piece it together backwards. Honestly, this game wants you so much to NG+.
Apparently, there's a conflict between Painters and Writers, two groups of people who can create layered realities. Details about it aren't given.
Alicia got bamboozled by the Writers and using a Trojan Horse strategy, they set fire to the Manor. Verso rescued Alicia from the fire, but ending up dead himself and Alicia being badly burned.

Just explore and do side content normally and you'll get chroma.
Or try the Endless Tower.
Also, don't buy everything from the shop :)

The story's final fight is easy, compared to side bosses.
Once you have Painted Power, 25+ weapon, you're probably good to tackle it.
Explore more.
Have fun.
Some fights will be easy, and some will be incredibly hard.

I finished it today, will probably do an NG+ to do a sweep of the side content.

I wasn't too fond of the Canvas reveal at first but the family drama was really well done, so I'm not too bothered by it.
