I honestly am amused how exponentially longer Civvie's patreon list gets with each video.
It's been fun to see it grow from something like 126 bucks(why isn't this guy earning more!) to what it is know. And the subscriber milestones, was it 40k before 100k? Even before 40k he still got views in the 150,000-200,000 range which is really strong. He's never pushed the "like and subscribe and smash that bell" crap from what I can remember, which is nice.

I'm by no means an OG Civvie watcher, I rolled in by accident looking for Future Shock videos one day and saw it as a relatively recent upload.

I honestly forget how I discovered him. I think one of his videos came up in recommended under a GMANLIVES video and it was Blood.

I know it's a looooooooong shot, but I would love to see Civvie do a video on the Eviternity WAD for Doom. Sure, we did get to see him do Death Wish for Blood, but from what I can tell, the modding scene for Blood isn't nearly as expansive as Doom's.

I suspect we'd see Bloom (Blood + Doom) before we'd see any WAD reviews from Civvie.

I think I said somewhere way upthread that Civvie is probably the only time I’ve seen Youtube’s algorithm provide something worth watching. Dude just showed up in the recommended videos one day for me.

Honestly, I'm more excited about the fact that the next game he is apparently reviewing is Prey 2006. That is quite an underrated gem (even though he may not agree).

Still prefer Quake 4 over it though.
Eh, I dunno if it's underrated. When one plays Prey, you can tell the dev team just threw whatever shit was in their idea bag and then called it a day, cause frankly the game feels both unfinished and cut in certain places.

It would be fun to see him get into some of the more oddball games using id's engines, like Shadowcaster or Strife. Shadowcaster is seriously impressive for Wolf3D engine game, it's like a fantasy dungeon crawler except the player is no longer shackled to a grid so he can walk freely to punch and shoot. It was also made by Raven so I guess it's the grand daddy of Heretic and Hexen.

Speaking of Raven, I'd like to see him review Necrodome:

It was a very early vehicle shooter made exclusively on Windows so it's a pain in the ass to get it to work. It was a bargain bin game I got as a kid and could never beat the first level.

Didn't the original Prey go through a Duke Nukem Forever thing where it was restarted like 3 times before it was released and worked on for over a decade?

Yes it indeed was. If anything Prey was the OG Development Hell shooter, before Duke Nukem Forever and Star Citizen could become way more infamous.

I loved nuPrey and still maintain to this day that if they had chosen a different name all the pointless slapfighting about it could have been avoided. It's as close to a System Shock 3 as we'll ever get. Fuck the maintenance tunnel sections though, shit sucked.

He's pretty good. I hope he can muster the courage and patience to do a TNT Evilution run someday. Unless he's done it already and I missed it.

There was even early screenshots of Prey on the original Duke3D CD! If you have the disc or an iso, go check it out.

A lot of what made the Prey development go out of bounds is reportedly caused by a new guy misunderstanding what "portals" were and started having wild ideas because game journos don't know how to write about tech. Originally it was just another form of very coarse, yet clever, occlusion culling. If the viewport can't see an entry(portal) to a room(space) it can not see anything in the room or anything in any other place that the unseen room connects to.
