I tried Fallen Aces. I played at the hardest difficulty and... The combat just felt shallow. It's kind of describe but play a really good FPS melee combat game like Elderborne (which is also Souls-like) and then play this and it's lacking a lot of depth and the combat becomes tedious very quickly.
I followed the development for a while before the guy sperged out in a way I didn't like, but I was getting that impression towards release. He spread the combat too thin with all the various inclusions that each have no depth.

It boiled down to grabbing a weapon, throwing it and basic dodging. It felt like trying to melee Pinkies with your fist in Doom essentially.

People in this very thread unironically simping for trannies shows me the whole fad of retro shooters is gay, cringe and has run it's course by this point. Make a real shooter in a real engine, you're not "quirky" or "unique" for putting in a bunch of shit in a doom clone that are not supposed to be there anymore, much like you're not a real woman either.

As for Civvie, I noticed that his new Selaco video already has nearly 200K views, only 2 days after being released. For comparison, his Descent video was made 2 weeks ago and is sitting at 300K, where as Aliens vs Predator vid was made over a month ago and is sitting at 350K right now. Is this normal for him, or has he successfully ridden the algorithm to an easy payday here?
Pretty much. Virtually every idea has already been done by 2020 and apperantly we need to clap for devs putting restrictions on themselves and having passable level design and memes. The entire indie scene is either millenial/gen Xers coping and dilating of their past in a midlife crisis, or zoomers larping as living in the 80's because their childhood is shit.

i """finished"""" it, and i can happily say (and agree) that it's a patented clusterfuck
levels are gigantic (dockyard) or incredibly complex (the apartment in the 4th level or the theatre) and there's either no maps to use, or they're so worthless that it's the same as not having them, if you have a bad sense of direction enjoy wandering around like a retard for entire hours (i did)

the melee combat suffers from not having any tech to it, fists are the closest to having some variety in their attacks, but past that it boils to either get melees that one-shot (fire axe), or hit hard and fast enough to bring any enemy down to the finisher threshold (pistol whipping and fire extinguishers as an example).

the enemies are a 1:1 copy of doom enemies and there's no depth to them, their behavior is justified by le "hahaha they're dumb goons" gag

which makes the stealth bad, the only way to truly "stealth kill" someone is to sneak up behind them, do a very slow attack (that can miss), and hope that the KO'd guys don't get spotted, because they will get back up if another enemy spots them, worsend by the sprite-based artstyle + the capacity of hearing you if you aren't crouched makes going around enemies un-necessarily hard.

the gunplay is overly complicated for the type of game it's in:
  1. to get a gun, you either find it on the ground with a full mag/drum/whatever, or you silently KO enemies that have the guns in question (killing them while they're alerted or with loud methods will make them drop a broken gun instead), and get them with a random amount of bullets in the clip/mag/whatever.
  2. to shoot a gun accurately, you need to stand still and wait for the movement-based spread mechanic, but even if you do stand still only two guns will be pin-point accurate, rest will still be stuck with a noticeable amount of spread, and unless it's the tommy or the shotgun, you're supposed to headshot sprite-based enemies that might be desynced to their hitboxes.
  3. to reload a gun you have to find speedloaders/individual bullets and shells, but the issue is that you have to waste one or two of your three inventory slots to hold either or both of these, and no enemies drop any ammo you can use.
and remember what i've mentioned before, these faggots want you to accept the 3 year long development + 2 year (maybe) development to finish their game.
oh and also as a va there's the furry porn enjoyer and patented redditor gianni matragrano playing the MC. (i think)

edit:
oh yeah also i *think* the developers are a bunch of stuck-up faggots that want to pull an RWS and be these hip and super-duper based people that dunk on the haters that shit on them because they've released an unfinished product.

Like I said, play Elderborn to experience good FPS melee combat. Pirate the game, whatever. But play Fallen Aces and then play that and it's a night and day difference. It's like going back to play Witchaven before playing KOTOR.

Edit: or another FPS that had very good melee combat would be the semi-underrated Alien VS Predator (2010) which had a Rock/Paper/Scissors kind of melee combat. I'd recommend that when it's on sale just for the single player campaigns. That game was tremendous disappointment because the multiplayer support sucked and had tons of issues beyond even balance.

No matter what the game is like, I think it’s a huge conflict of interest for civvie to gush about this game so hard while not addressing that he cameos in the game and also appears in the credits.

I generally dislike the incestious circlejerk relationship indie devs have with YouTubers anyway. Man I missed with civvie used to review point and click games

KF is nearing SA/REERA levels of "reee why are you playing Ion Fury!" levels of faggotry.
Personally I have no problem if you play troon infected shit, but you shouldn't be paying money for it. If you do, then you're not really a person. You reject reality and this are unable to communicate like a person. In a word, cattle. People always say vote with your wallet, well I agree. Stop buying cancer. Just pirate it.

The Fallen Aces devs spent all their time on art/aesthetics of the game while forgetting the actual gameplay.

I'm well past burnt out on the non stop retro shooter wave but this was one I was really looking forward to. Shame it didn't pan out.

Have you played it?
It's not good. The gameplay is mid at best, and it's ugly, filled with Reddit jokes and DIE propaganda. Everything that doesn't suck is a reference to a better game.
I have never seen art by a troon that was good.
You can see what a brainwashed faggot the dev is if something like this makes it into the game, and Larry Fink didn't even have to pay for it.

It's extra ultra gay because it used to be very edgy. The crybullies convinced the normies to get rid of the racists, and then normies gave them power because being "le evil racist" is bad. So the troons body-snatched everyone with that power.

If you take a minute and think about it, you know he is either lying to support troons or deluding himself into believing it's good because of troons.
He has played enough FPS games to know this is, at best, okay gameplay with an ugly art style.

I am convinced Civvie11 likes to slurp the rotting ooze out of the stinkditch.
He is just better than most at keeping his believes hidden.
While we’re still on the subject of FEAR clones, does anyone know if Trepang2 was any good, and broadly untouched by this bullshit?

Trepang 2 seems to be a decent, if a bit short, FEAR clone. There doesn't seem to be any woke writing or anything like that but the story and second half are kinda shit. The action bits in the first half seem to be the best part of the game.
Speaking of which, did Civvie ever talk about this game?

He mentioned it once in a video.

I couldn't get into Action Doom but I admire the spectacle and Metal Slug aesthetics. What sperging has the Fallen Aces dev been up to?
Not much other than being the ringleader for the circlejerk known as the Cacowards, oh and some self-censoring on Action Doom 2 because fags are Jesus now.

Old version.

Current version.

That's fucking awful.

trepang is peak irredemable mediocrity and you should pirate it first (or just play the original FEAR) if you want to see how bad it is, since the entire game is:
  1. enter room, kill pre-placed enemies, do objective, fight waves of enemies, move on to next level.
  2. if you have a boss, it's just shoot boss, boss disappears and you fight a wave of enemies, he reappears and you shoot him again until he dies.
that's literally it, beyond the backrooms, you're supposed to spend 20+ euros for fancy guns, a very schizophrenic and short plot with generic enemies/encounters, levels and setpieces.

I had a fun time with Trepang. Biggest issue I had with it is that a fair amount of the levels are more like small combat arenas than full-fledged missions. That said, the core combat kicks ass and the game does a really good job being a loud, violent spectacle. It doesn't do anything crazy original, and the plot's just an excuse to go shoot shit. It's on sale for $18 right now, I'd say it's worth that.
