There is an alarming amount of troons in his discord server, I noticed. If I needed further proof that trooning out is nothing more then a mental instability, they are absolutely obsessed with posting selfies, and because people are too afraid to speak out, they actively encourage the choices because God forbid people get a reality check. What is wrong with this world?
That's not surprising. Trannies exist for "validation". Read: to inflict their fetish upon other people and somehow still receive praise for it. It's essentially impossible to have a community with a large amount of troons in it, without large amounts of unsolicited selfies (or worse) flying around. The underlying narcissism of the tranny condition feeds it all.

He's doing the youtube shorts thing that's apparently mandatory if you want to get recommended. I thought he only did the first level because ebin aprils first joek, but he just posted the second level video too. Anyway, I think it's fucking antagonistic to your audience to do it like that. He said he won't do TNT Evilution but now it looks like he's killing two birds with one stone.

I thought he said it was too boring for a whole video? He scrapped a TNT video because he didnt like it. Maybe the shorter video length makes it easier to talk about?

so did civvie sour on doom eternal lately? remember him saying that he likes to spite doom eternal fanboys when playing postal brain damaged or something. I remember him being pretty positive on it during his original review but I havent seen him in a while.

I did notice the mention of Eternal being suddenly negative. Don't really keep track of what he gets up to in all his videos. Possible he's just being contrarian. Happens all the time with reviewers.

I think Doom Eternal got hit hard by hype backlash. People liked the 2016 game because it was straightforward and simple. Eternal as a game is just tiring. Too many bullshit mechanics, too many convoluted levels and story that goes past fun retarded into a Mortal Kombat fanfic autism.

that and maybe the release window. remember doom eternal came right at peak covid along with animal crossing so alot of people just wanted something not depressing att, so like a rubberband it snaps back after the honeymoon phase.

I'll say this - I didn't finish Eternal yet. It feels too much like Doom '16 and the old Super Mario World had a baby.

Doom '16 was straight up, no nonsense, not too much going from one arena to another. Felt more engaging to me.

I think I'm paraphrasing some YouTuber here (probably Civvie) that the enemy that shows everything wrong with Eternal is the Marauder - Basically it's a Dark Souls enemy. Hit it in specific times when the game tells you (or chink at him with splash damage) to kill him, effectively slamming the brakes of the gameplay for a sanctioned "epic" encounter. A lot of other enemies are similar in having an official way of killing them that is far easier, and ruins the pacing and flow of battle.

Doom Eternal is getting the same type of backlash Elden Ring got from challenge runners after a short while: there's just too much shit to do and the game goes from "fun" to "tiresome" very quickly on repeated playthroughs unless you're exactly the kind of autist the game is meant to cater to. It goes from a power fantasy first person shooter where you're slaughtering demons in droves, to a puzzle game where you're slaughtering demons in droves if everything goes right, but getting slapped around like a little bitch without ammo, health or armor if you don't follow the script for the combat scenario the developers set up for you.

After seeing a couple of the pre-launch gameplay demos, I knew it wasn't for me. I'll take Doom 2016's more unga-bunga-I-don't-need-skill-I-have-spare-ammo approach any day of the week.

I kept pointing this out back in 2019. Having to stop and dodge enemies to chainsaw zombies really dragged the game out and the whole concept of "We want the player to utilize all the weapons" really got slapped down when you have 9 weapons and only 3 ammo types between them. Ironically the game became a blast when you unlock the unlimited ammo cheat and just go blasting.

I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but I think despite the issue of the Marauders and such, the game was pretty awesome, though the whole "kill demon specifically this way or else you have to waste a boatload of ammo on it." would probably get annoying after a point. I'd argue Eternal is probably gonna be the next kinda formula most of the triple-A companies going for FPSes will follow.
Where Eternal dropped the ball, imo, is in the DLC; where they basically tried to mitigate some of the "some weapon powerups are simply better than others approach", but dropped the ball there, and the story of the DLC was...disappointing to say the least.
