I like his Thief videos. I understand why he makes jokes about them doing poorly compared to others but I find them chill and entertaining to watch/listen to. It must be annoying to him that he does these vids for some of the greatest computer games of all time and they probably just die on the vine compared to what he can get for releasing yet another first person shooter video.https://youtube.com/watch?v=f9ieK4-vbzgAccidentally found this in his playlist. It's unlisted but not private/hidden. Uploaded yesterday so I guess it's about to get visible for non-paypigs pretty soon.

Agree, the games are not for everyone, but I think that people would still be curious to find out what they're about and how they work. The videos are good, the story and setting is interesting and the games themselves were unique.I guess a lot of people didn't play Thief so they don't care about a full playthrough.
Wish Systemshock 2 had half as much human npc interaction as thief has. It just feels like a missed opportunity and not for technical reasons. The Von braun may as well be a fully automated ship full of androids and robots that has just been hijacked by an alien parasite compared to the lived in levels of the thief games.I like his Thief videos. the reason is that dark engine can't into friend systems and nothing would stop the player from killing the npc's so they have to appear as ghosts where they are invincible and untangible, when you get to the two npc's they are invincible until the script tells them to die, not to mention that it would remove the horror factor.Wish Systemshock 2 had half as much human npc interaction as thief has. you might be genuinely retardedthe reason is that dark engine can't into friend systems and nothing would stop the player from killing the npc's
Yeah the ship doesn't make sense as the human-inhabited space it's meant to be but on the other hand I can remember pretty distinctly how unsettling and alien it was on a first playthrough so I dunno, something about the slapped-together TNG bullshit cruise ship aesthetic kinda works. I remember raving about how spooky the medbay and fucking monkey wizards were back in the day; I can't see that at all now. So I ain't gonna second-guess em too hard.Wish Systemshock 2 had half as much human npc interaction as thief has. It just feels like a missed opportunity and not for technical reasons. I used to do that years ago when he was mainly a Postal Channel and was barely over a thousand subs and tried to cover movies before getting fucked by YouTube.I wonder how successful Civvie’s channel would have been if he created this content in the heyday of AVGN, et al. I like the majority of his videos, and, at worst, they’re enough to keep running in the background.
For goodness sake, when I played Doom I thought getting started with a pistol after dying was a design oversight in the same way being able to quick save while/after dying was an oversight. Or like the design oversight of being able to pause online multiplayer matches in Quake 1. For everyone.Honestly one of the only negative things I can say about his Doom videos is that he doesn't pistol start each map. Sad!
It probably wouldn't have been as easy making those videos with older hardware and software and I think older Youtube was (ironically) more short attention span and not ready for the current status quo of 20 minutes minimum, nevermind 40 minutes without a curse word or an exaggerated joke every minute. Not that the channel wouldn't have a following but a smaller one than what is has nowI wonder how successful Civvie’s channel would have been if he created this content in the heyday of AVGN, et al. I like the majority of his videos, and, at worst, they’re enough to keep running in the background. There’s just something about some guy who plays good games, like Thief, and accentuates negatives on it because he’s not great at playing them. Try watching the Pro Doom videos and listening to his complaints. Then, go watch someone like Zeromaster completely invalidate the 30-minute video you just watched. Two opposite ends of the spectrum, I know, but this dude does call that series of videos his “Pro” series, so why not compare them to people who are legitimately talented?
His best videos are when he’s playing janky, forgotten games. You cannot tell if he’s hi early awful at the game, or if the game is honestly awful. I believe the janky game well is running dry though. The 2000s are full of same-y FPS games that try to copy the popular thing, and they all end up playing the same. Thus, the same video when you go to create some content.
I’m not a huge fan of the original Unreal. I think that game received and continues to receive way too much hype. Novel for its time and it has aged well, but it is boring and uninteresting to me. I’m a huge UT99 fan though and I wish more people talked about that so more servers and PUGs would pop up.
It's a video about a game Civvie genuinely likes, so it was pretty good. He does descend into griping later, when he talks about how absurdly easy the expansion/mission pack is, but it didn't bother me much.I’m not a huge fan of the original Unreal. Is this worth the watch?
This right here is the reason why you should watch it. There is a huge difference between videos that feel perfunctory and the ones that he has a deep(er) connection to. I just started it but am enjoying it a lot so far. Unreal was so such a strange experience that I never played until like seven or eight years after it came out but it always stuck with me.It's a video about a game Civvie genuinely likes, so it was pretty good. My favorite Civvie moment is when he was playing Postal 4, put on the gimp suit, declared that "Black Lives Matter", "trans rights", killed every cop around Edensin because "ACAB", and topped it all off by committing almost every conceivable human rights violations against his in-game counterpart of himself as explicitly-stated punishment against his white male privilege.still a tranny loving nigger worshipper
That was a weird video. Wish he did more Thief 2 videos and less videos on punishment against his white male privilege. My favorite Civvie moment is when he was playing Postal 4, put on the gimp suit, declared that "Black Lives Matter", "trans rights", killed every cop around Edensin because "ACAB", and topped it all off by committing almost every conceivable human rights violations against his in-game counterpart of himself as explicitly-stated punishment against his white male privilege.
