I'm gonna be honest, I never actually saw any gameplay for Quake 4 in all of these years, and it feels a little strange to me to see that Quake 4 is basically just Doom 3 with a fresh coat of paint.

To be completely fair that was a whole Raven's specialty at the time. id have done new engine (and the game as... ahem, demo reel), and Raven catching up, make their own thing.
For Doom it were Heretic and Hexen, for Quake it was Hexen II, for Doom3... was Quake 4.

I'm not looking at his discord kittens server, but I guess it's save to assume the following:
He's lazy sack of shit
Witchaven 2 is OG Witchaven with just new maps and few more enemies (but if such a logic is applicapble the existence of "petty thief" for Thief 2 game makes a lot of questions)
Nobody cares about Witchaven, people need OG Strife (and I support this urge)
 
Witchaven 2 is a different game. The first game is... Bad but playable. It's jank but playable and sometimes even enjoyable jank. Just stick to the swords, the bow, and a few magic spells and you are good. Witchaven 2 is a different kind of shit. It takes everything from the first game and just throws more at you and the weapons break even quicker.

Agreed. That said, this one also suffers from the fact he has virtually no connection to the source material outside having played it once a long time ago. The fact that the game is just kinda boring overall is what sinks the video because even though he's doing his best there's not really that "I grew up playing this" insight and jokes you're used to from older and better games that he's done on the channel before.

I think Strife might fall into that trap unfortunately because unless I'm mistaken he's probably like a lot of the rest of us and never played it growing up. But I may be projecting because I never played it until I think it showed up on Home of the Underdogs back when that site was God.

If I'm being perfectly honest, I think Quake 4 is a far better game than Doom 3.

Heck, at the risk of getting mocked, I'll just go on and say that Q4 is, no joke, my second favorite in the entire Quake series after the first. I just love that Raven took full advantage of the Biopunk elements that were hinted at in the second game.

Some people hate it, a lot of people love it. A character spouting out random conspiracies and/or right-wing "based" talking points is always going to be popular among those who are in it for the lulz. And since I'm pretty sure Civvie expected Cancer Mouse to be just a punchline (or a punching bag), he's likely not happy with this outcome.

Civvie has only showed up in one game, cancer mouse with voice lines have been in two or more?

Cancer Mouse shows up as a secret boss in Ultrakill (along with a giant reference to the dungeon corridors from Civvie's old intros) but he doesn't have any voice lines. I think he's been in two other games besides that though.
 
I don't like the incestuous Indie dev to Youtubers relationships. Throwing a reference is cute, but having bosses of YouTubers sounds like the devs suck dick to boost their game

That's why devs should turn utubers into some shitty small goblins. Have them run around spouting their utub catchphrases in high-pitched voices and die in one hit.
Or better yet, just ignore those niggers and don't put them in your game.

I mean, its a secret boss that many people might not even know about or just ignore. Heck, only ones who'll know are prob just fans of said youtuber.

No, those were a joke. Cancer mouse does make an apperance in Graven, but like with Ultrakill ya need to actually search fo said secret.
