He made fun of TGWTG/CA in the past for having shitty skits, yet he keeps making his autistic robot skits, i don't get him.

In his defense, I first saw "Radiaki" through the video's title, so I thought of it as an imaginary Italian name because it was in YouTube's default format instead of an oriental font. He saw it through the title screen so he had the established expectation that it was supposed to be Japanese.
 
Sketches in video game reviews CAN be good

They just gotta be fucking brief. At least Civvie keeps them mercifully short and even kind of mocks attempts at establishing a "Lore" of his videos when they usually are whatever he feels like at the moment. Only thing consistent is that he is a prisioner with robots that may or may not be able to torture him anymore (they eased on the torture humor so at this point it almost feels like he stays there willingly)

There's too many of them now for me to buy that anymore, to be honest. Pre-Duke Nukem Forever there'd sometimes be multiple videos that would go by without a sketch or with just a passing mention of the conditions he supposedly lives in. These days I can't even think of a recent review without one. Even if they were funny or inventive (which they're not) they'd have been burnt out by now.

I don't understand why these people don't just launch spinoff shows. If they're good people will watch them. People are whores for side content. Letting this stuff cancerously consume your main content is just going to nuke your views. Everyone knows this, but people keep falling victim to it like they're self-aware characters in a shitty postmodern slasher movie.
 
I don't mind the sketches generally, I wasn't turned off by them but didn't laugh either. They existed. I didn't mind the video overall either and actually found it more entertaining than some of the more recent ones. This game looks like absolute shit and I'm astounded I've never heard of it considering my obsession with the era. Looks like the type of game you'd find a single level demo of on a shareware disc with a 1000 other games on it but it was marginally less shitty than the rest so you'd play it frequently because it felt like Doom or Wolf3D.
 
Surprised he havent made a video on STALKER yet, its old school enough in my eyes.

Edit: Or it could be he just generally avoids non linear experiences. It could be that.

Nah I'm kidding it's just a thing that even the first game would take at least ten of videos if not more.

It's a reoccurring gag for actionable puns, so Monty Python and the like. It's one of the more subtle ones but I like it.

Considering how many repeated jokes he uses you'd think he could make that a joke. If there's any truth to his videos being a 'parody of a review show' .. that just uses all the same schtick but unironically. His editing is notably better than most older reviewers, there's quite a few times I've been impressed by it. Like its still a 'Nice FUCKIN' MODEL!' reference but editing it into a song or timing it to actions in the video is good effort.

I keep hoping he'll either get back to videos on things he actually cares about or he'll start tipping fully into potential lolcow.

I think he just can't help himself. He went to film school, didn't he? It's like James Rolfe, whose real passion is filmmaking but he lucked into success with gaming videos. Civvie knows more about videogames than Bimmy though.

Until Civvie hits the point of us needing to watch something like the russian edits from spoony he's good. He's kinda getting there though, random 30 seconds to a minute interruptions in the middle of the videos for jokes that don't really land isn't exactly the best.
 
Getting rid of the robots and setting for the character itself would be a mistake. When the character is gone the person behind Civvie can sperg about politics without it breaking the lore. I mean, the robots won't sperg about black lives matter, Civvie the asshole, when leaning into that character, won't do it either because BLM fellatio isn't canon. Be thankful for the skits.
