Famed jazz musician Chuck Mangione is dead ... TMZ has confirmed.

The flugelhorn and trumpet player died this week at his home in Rochester, New York ... according to his manager. We're told Chuck died from natural causes.

Chuck won two Grammy Awards over his legendary career ... the first in 1977 for best instrumental composition and the second in 1979 for best pop instrumental performance.

His composition "Chase The Clouds Away" was featured at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec ... and his composition "Give It All You Got" was the theme music for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY.

Chuck's biggest hit was his 1978 single "Feels So Good" ... and the album by the same name is regarded as one of the most successful jazz records of all time. All told, Chuck released more than 30 albums.

He landed a few roles on TV shows too ... most notably, a recurring role on "King of the Hill." Chuck also had a guest appearance on "Magnum, P.I."

Born and raised in Rochester, NY, Chuck was inducted in 2012 into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame.

Chuck was 84.

RIP

I know about his music before I ever saw KOTH and it's really good! Chuck Mangione was a very talented musician and I highly recommend listening to the rest of the album Feels so Good is on! Also make sure you're listing to the full version of that song and not a singles edit.
Hope he gets acknowledged in KOTH reboot or given a tribute in the credits after an episode. Fluglehorn>>>>>trumpet, always.

He ain't dead, he's hiding in the megalo Mart.
It's pretty funny how they managed to incorporate his music so often. When he plays the national anthem and turns it into Feels So Good, or when he and Dale reclaim Megalo Mart, the mission theme is a version of it (2:35 if it doesn't queue):

I always thought he was the best trumpeter in the world next to Louis Armstrong. Here’s to hoping Kenny G is not next.

Does anyone know which are the top instrumental songs that made it on popular radio? I'll bet Feels So Good is #1. I still hear it all the time on classic light rock stations (yacht rock, etc).

Megalo Mart lost their spokesman, it doesn't feel so good.

Not really. Mangione did more jazz pop, jazz funk. He didn't get the infamous reputation Kenny G has as "Muzak" or "elevator music that puts you to sleep." Worked with very talented musicians.

I guess I never heard of him because my parents were stuck in the 50s-70s rock and country scene. Oh well, RIP to the dude. Seems like he was beloved.

His music was very catchy when I did listen to it. Shame that he passed away. So many are dropping like flies.
