Am I a bitch for deciding next year to stop buying friends Christmas presents after I've gone a decade without receiving a present in return?

I put real thought into buying stuff every year for people and people either get me surface level stuff or nothing and I'm tired of it. I've never gotten people stuff in the want for a return present or because it makes me feel good to give. It's more been because I use it as an opportunity to reinforce to people how well I know them and as a testament that I look at them deeper than just what their surface level likes and interest are.

Yes. You are supposed to give as an act of charity, I've always viewed it as symbolic of the gift of salvation Jesus Christ gave us.

OP's friends certainly don't see it this way. They're not giving OP shit, so why should OP have to give them gifts each and every Christmas?
He doesn't "have" to, but he asked a question and I answered it. You're not supposed to give with the intention of receiving in return, that's just how I see it.

Do they seem like good friends? No, not based on this limited information, but the whole idea of gift giving on Christmas (even from the secular view) is to give in generosity, which is what Saint Nicholas (a real person who Santa is based on) was known for doing. For Christians I assume it comes from the three wise men, or a combination of both.
