What an retarded person. You would think that the guy would know the gun is gone, and know that a cucky place like IKEA would not allow guns.

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) -- Fishers police are investigating after a child found a gun and fired a shot inside Ikea.

It happened around 2 p.m. Monday at the Ikea located at 11400 Ikea Way in Fishers, a north side Indianapolis suburb.

An Ikea customer sat down on a couch, where his firearm fell out of his pants and got lodged in the piece of furniture. He got up from the couch and continued to walk around the store without realizing his gun was gone, according to Sgt. Tom Weger with Fisher Police Department.

Kids sat down on the same couch, found the gun and one of them pulled the trigger, firing a shot but not injuring anyone, Weger said.

Evidence technicians and investigators were at the scene. Weger said witness statements and evidence had been collected and would be forwarded on to the Hamilton County prosecutor.

Weger added that now is the time for parents to talk about what steps to take if a child finds a gun. Two steps are critical: don't touch it, and go find and tell an adult.

At 4 p.m. Monday, the scene had been cleared, and the store had opened for business again.

An Ikea spokesperson provided a statement on the incident, saying the company has a no-weapon policy and that Ikea employees "took the action they were trained to do to ensure the safety of customers":

We take this incident very seriously and we have offered the family of the child involved our sincerest apologies.

Safety and security of customers and co-workers is the top priority for IKEA. We have processes in place to ensure that the store is safe for customers and co-workers. For example, our store team has regular safety walks and audits which happen before, during and after opening hours. In addition, IKEA has a no weapon policy in our locations to prevent exactly these types of situations. As soon as we were aware of the situation, our co-workers took the action that they were trained to do to ensure the safety of customers. We are cooperating with police as they investigate this incident.

#BREAKING: Police say a man didn't realize he dropped his gun into a couch. A child found the gun and pulled the trigger inside of the store.

Well, someone just lost their privileges to buy cheap particle board bookcases with funny names for life, hope he's happy.

If only they showed Eddie Eagle videos in schools these days. Stop, don't touch, leave the area, tell an adult. But no:

GUNS BAAAAAAAD, ARRRRRRRHHHHHGGGGG!!!!!!

Exactly this is why we don't teach this kind of stuff anymore. We really should. That and "don't buy $300 shoes and $400 gold chains when you're poor as shit"

Would have been a million times more useful than the left wing curriculum they shove at us these days.

This why you should invest in retention holsters. Wonder what model of pistol it was and how long the dude's been carrying, because if you do it for long enough you can absolutely feel the weight difference if it isn't on you. Truth be told I'm surprised the kid didn't find the gun in the bathroom since there's no shortage of stories of people (mostly law enforcement/federal workers) leaving their gun in the john.

I carry a handheld radio on my belt at work, I've accidentally left it in the can, but it has never ever fallen off in a way that wasn't immediately obvious.

Plus I'm constantly checking it even if I don't feel anything strange just to be sure.

This guy needs charged with SOMETHING for his idiocy, I dont care if its littering.

but this dumbass gets his in?

probably because he put it under his shirt and didn't tell anyone about it

He probably weighed 400 pounds so the extra 3-4 for the gun didn't feel like anything to him

Okay, I don't know a lot about guns, so when it says 'fell out of his pants' does that mean 'fell out of some kind of holster' or 'fell out of actual pocket'?

I’d assume pocket, since holsters are external except for around like the ankle.

When I first started CC'ing, it was impossible for me to not feel my gun. As time went on, the opposite became true. It felt so natural that I didn't feel right unless I was carrying. How the fuck did this guy not notice he didn't have four pounds of steel hanging off him?

That's what I thought, but why would you put your gun in your pocket? Wouldn't that be uncomfortable?

(edit: I see from Googling that there are pistols specifically made to be small enough to fit in a pocket, but you're still supposed to have a holster.)

I would think the opposite: the bigger you are the more you're likely to feel the edges of the gun poking your fat folds.

But hey, get a shoulder holster and don't take the time to properly fit it. I promise you'll ALWAYS feel your piece that way.
