I'm currently in the process of finding an assisted living situation for an elderly family member, and I am trying to find the most affordable option. Quality is less important than cost, as the person has quite a bit of debt that needs to be paid off as well.
My budget is 4k at absolute maximum, and it can be literally anywhere in the United States.

Virginia has been a a go to for retirees from New York and New England who want cheap cost of living and don't want the Florida heat for a couple decades now. I have a few friends' who's parents moved down there. One's mother did go into a nice assisted living facility. It was not on the cheap end, but she was very happy there and they were happy with the level of care.

Be sure to consider hospital access when putting them up in the Carolinas and Virginia. Had a bunch of trouble recently with this. It's a massive headache if you're the only family member willing to help

FOUR GRAND? Holy shit. How the hell is anyone supposed to afford anything?!

does it has to be in the usa?
4k go a long way in many places

i suppose its per month
I'm just thinking like, how the fuck could anyone live AND ALSO pay four grand for someone else?

i suppose the elderly still gets some kind of pension, and thats already part of the 4k
everything to do with medicine is a giant rip-off, costs 10 times as much as it should
