She's a weapon hybrid like Denji and Katana Man, she's immortal and can't die.

I'm guessing you haven't read the manga?
No I haven't. The end was still sad and tugged at the heart strings. Denji was just sitting there in the window while Makima and the Angel shanked her in the alley

Just saw the movie, fucking fantastic. It fits so much better with how Chainsaw man's manga is paced than the typical dragged out anime format. Genuinely hope they just do Chainsaw man in a series of movies instead of mediocre anime seasons. And the box office results so far just might encourage the suits to do that.

Well, your in for a rollercoaster for the next few arcs then.

I'm not sure about that, I think if you completely removed their blood they'll die and the original demon returns to hell. Getting minced by rats would probably achieve it.

Reze is not dead, she returns later in in the manga as part of Makima's special squad.

I get that the movie is bringing in a lot of tourists but God damn.

After the Reze movie I know really want to see the heartache of Denji having to face the possessed Aki on the big screen.

On the topic of Reze's "death", the movie reminded me that I, and I mean this in the best way possible, almost wish she stayed dead. It was a beautiful scene and seeing it in the theater didn't quite resonate with me as much as it did with the others because I knew she'd just come back.
I similarly felt about Quanxi but at a much lower scale, even if Kishibe's refusal to take off his eyeband is what mostly made that scene stand out for me.

The Hybrids being unable to die leads to some interesting shit.

Denji admits to Asa that everytime he dies a piece of him never comes back and he's slowly hollowing out.

Saw it yesterday. Great movie overall, I was worried the subtitles would look awkward in 3D but it didn't at all. The 3D was worth the price. And I can't believe they teased us with the unreleased Maximum The Hormone song that we only heard a little bit of from one of the endings in season 1. It's been over 3 years and they still won't release it.

Also shark fiend carried this movie. He was the best.

Also reminds that Makima is a human despite shit she pulls off next.
Except she's not. That scene is in the movie for a reason.

Nigga, this is such a footnote in the story that I legitimately forgot it happens. I don't agree either. When a devil dies and comes back, they're completely different. They have no memories and their personalities aren't even often the same. The person they are is DEAD. D-e-a-d. For the purpose of the rest of the story, nobody has ever come back from the dead and when they do, they have not been the same. Their role in the story is either a footnote cameo appearance that might as well be blink and you miss it, or they're so radically different they might as well be two different people. There hasn't been an exception of this to date. The characters we saw die are never coming back in their original forms. With maybe ONE exception that Fujimoto has teased, but to this day has not expanded on yet.

Spoilers for movie and manga:
So no, the Reze we saw here and came to care about, is gone and she is NEVER coming back. The Reze that comes back is a mindless zombified monster. She has none of her personality intact. Any history between them isn't mentioned or even acknowledged. She might as well be just another bad guy grunt in a suit. Her role was to show Makima's cruelty and nothing more.

Genuinely hope they just do Chainsaw man in a series of movies instead of mediocre anime seasons.
I knew some people would have this thought and I had it myself. Chainsawman's next arc is just not the same though. The Santa Arc just doesn't translate as cleanly as Reze did. For the Reze Arc, it's perfect movie material with character arcs and a solid beginning, middle, and end. The Santa Arc just....isn't that. It's very much about pushing our heroes to their limits and setting up pieces for the finale. There's not really a clear arc and it's very action oriented, and I'm just not sure if it works on the big screen. For Reze, there was also only a handful of characters. For Santa there's....well a lot more and a lot more baggage. There's no real emotional gut punch either. It's more of a rollercoaster ride.

Makima dies and comes back a completely different character with a completely different appearance, but when Reze comes back she has the same appearance. She didn't die, sh was just under mind control. We don't know if she regained her other memories or not when Makima dies, but she hasn't shown up since then and is presumably still alive. I'm expecting her to come back shorty as the nuke devil.

I wonder if anyone else seen Reze Arc in 4DX? The chair effects were wild.

Makima vs Denji should be the next movie. The rest of part 1 can be done in a seasonal anime format.

The only review source I trust is Commonsense Media.

Finally, Denji can enter Agartha.

Good to know! The Big Smoke Lobby ain't winning this bitch!

>white presenting male character
They renamed him to Dennis lmao
I get the impression that the reviewer never watched or read any CSM prior to watching the Reze Arc, but like even if your only exposure to CSM was the Reze Arc film it's 100% obvious that every character on-screen is Japanese aside from maybe Reze*. Literally from their mannerisms it's obvious.

I mean his name is literally Denji. Doesn't sound like any Yakubian name... And tf they mean by "they don't specifically state they're Japanese" lmao. Is this how they can get away with race swap fanart?

Though I'm shocked they didn't bump up their diversity score a little because of Reze. She's Soviet spy but she's able to pass as Japanese perfectly, so she might either be Koryo-Saram or some kind of Asian Siberian who can pass as Japanese.
