There was no bump for the newest chapter?
I thought it was interesting to see and learn more about Asa's parents and see more of her again in general after she's been sidelined lately.
Also, I couldn't help but think of Tails Gets Trolled when I saw this panel:

I didn't like it. "Evil dad" is just lazy drama, if he was an actual decent human being and was killed for the insurance money/appeasing batshit mother, then it would have been an actual interesting development.

I think they went to far making Asa dad a villain to make her mom look better despite "mercy" killing her husband. It would have hit harder if they were just a normal loving family but poor. Mom saw a way out of poverty and took it despite loving her husband. Maybe have her trying to gaslight Asa that dad wanted to die so they could get the insincere money.

I read it as a gaslight. He was trying to save them after all, he couldn't have been too bad.

Finally bit the bullet and got a ticket for the movie on Friday. I almost got one for Digital3D but fuck thaaaaat

He was kind of a shit but still very clearly cared about his daughter. Asa even said she’s not sure if her mom was a good person or not.

I don’t think anyone in the manga has been defined as “purely good” or “purely bad”. Makima may be the closest.

Went to see the movie today which was also the first time in a while I went to the cinema in general and I forgot how fun of a experience it is when the movie is actually good.
- Feeling the impact from Reze's explosions
- The ridiculous fight scenes/when my boy Beam joins in
- Fuckhuge popcorn bucket
- I got a perfect seating spot and I overheard some people around me whispering and alluding to part 2 things so it wasn't all anime onlies watching
10/10 experience 8)👌

I too went to see the movie. Honestly, 9/10. I loved it. I thought it's fantastic. As a manga reader, knowing what happens did recontextualize certain scenes and I really think non-manga readers miss out. I've been scouring some reviews from non-manga readers to gauge opinions since I can't really approach this with unbiased eyes.

What I can say is this, Fujimoto is a cinephile. He always has been. He made an entire 80 page one shot to show how much of a friggin movie nerd he is. He finally got a chance to make a movie. And what did he do with that chance? He put as many fucking explosions in it as he possibly could. Explosions are pretty cool.

Seeing the fight between Denji and Reze animated was right among the first things I was looking forward to, when the movie was announced and they gave 200% effort in keeping it as frantic as possible, loved every second of it.

I’m sitting through theater commercials. The auditorium’s nearly sold out. A dude in front of me is loudly talking about the female cast of Persona 4. No pochita popcorn bucket.

The man is now talking about the plot of Five Nights at Freddy’s

Movie was good as Hell. The audience weren't annoying either once the movie started. Reze's movements translated really well.

Saw it with some friends. Oddly our theater was mostly empty, we picked the subbed screening. Don't know if that was affecting the audience turnout. It was great, I'm still iffy on the full cgi to 2d mixed anime stuff, but I thought it mostly worked for this. The final battle with the typhoon (trying to keep it as spoiler free as possible) was one of the most insane things I've seen on the big screen.
No pochita popcorn bucket.
Oddly enough same at my theater. It was a chain and they were advertising it on the screens at the concession stand, but they didn't have any in stock. I wasn't gonna buy it with how overpriced popcorn buckets are, but I did kinda wanna see how it looked in real life, if it was dinky or cool looking. I wonder if they made hardly any of them.

Absolute cinema, after the meh anime it's reassuring to have a good adaption. Reze arc was devilish for deluding you to think that the series settled into something resembling status quo. It's all downhill from there. Also reminds that Makima is a human despite shit she pulls off next.

They did kinda cuck by not having Reze's body be consumed by rate though. Also technically a Sharknado film.

The explosions were kinda muted, wonder if it was the same for everyone or only in my country.
