Top post of the month on their plebbit is shitting on the fun police devs (another one was mocking the "realism" push the devs are going by saying zombies were unrealistic and should be removed :smug:). For context, one of the devs(?) is going on a crusade against firearms (Holli, people have a bone to pick with this fuck, I think I mentioned this before) and refuses to hear anyone out (I've seen silencing and even banning, mentioning them on their plebbit is also against their rules), I've also read that they straight up shut down anything that the community actually considering cool and worth implementing with no reason why. It has gone the point where anytime they actually add something it's considered a miracle, even then they're viciously mocked lol.
My guess is that they're one of those anti-gun leftist trannies, the tranny part because of the name "Holli" and also despite their cuntishness they're constantly protected by the other devs more than the main devs were. You can mentioned Erk and Kevin but you can't mention them in a negative light. I think SomeDeadGuy spamming NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER or whatever in official Dickswords and other places wasn't even banned as fast as some people are when they talk about this "Holli" negatively. I also recommend looking into a fork by the guy who made the "No Hope" mod, There is some Hope. It seems to be a middle ground and the dev(s) seems to be more respected than the main devs (unsurprising, a goldfish is more respectable). It hasn't been updated in a year but I hear they still plan to work on it. It's funny seeing a big part of the community openenly against the creators, rightfully so.

Yeah, the main CDDA game and community is notorious for this type of shit; the devs and their obsession with "realism" is pretty much the main reason why a lot of people have been getting turned away. That, and if I remember correctly, the amount of fagshit that's been crammed into the game is causing legit issues with stability; if I remember correctly, the numerous pride and tranny flags and symbols had a tendency to completely crash the game if they spawned together... and the devs made them spawn EVERYWERE. It's not like you're allowed to protest any of this, ether; aside from what you mentioned, people can and WILL turn on you if you dare to even think about touching their beloved fagshit. It's all completely ridiculous.

Bit of a shame, honestly; there's a few mods in CDDA that aren't in other forks that I love, but the bullshit the devs and community keep forcing into the game keep pushing me away.

I heard that too, complain about it and you'll be banned for hate speech or whatever. I was made aware of this when the De(ad)lta Fork removed a bunch of bloat in the Refugee Center and accidentally removed some book or something, seeing the rather visceral community reaction towards them led me to investigate what the fuck is going on and led me to a rabbit hole of autism and faggotry. Speaking of which, this is how and why the TISM fork was made:
>be long time contributor (lol they're still contributing after being shafted and quitting, guess TISM wasn't getting enough attention?)
>8 years to be exact
>done nothing but good (hopefully)
>have PRs shut down for no reason but roll with it for some reason
>make massive QoL pull
>dev shuts it down with a dickish reply
>dev has no further comment, not the first time either (worth noting a lot of people would've liked changes like this (and this) but was shafted because "muh ui bloat")
>"fuck it, I quit, I'll make my own fork with blackjack and hookers"
>make own fork
>devs response?
>Damage control
>"oh we're totally rooting for you! Good luck!"
>was one of the devs who shafted him and offered no reply because they already had an agenda in mind and are just waiting for contributors to make code for them that fits said agenda
>Other dev is more honest with his opinion on NP
1731555636900.png

Also this guy was thinking years ahead considering Mind over Matter is a thing now:
1731555588699.png

Bit of a shame, honestly; there's a few mods in CDDA that aren't in other forks that I love, but the bullshit the devs and community keep forcing into the game keep pushing me away.
I've found none I can't live without and even know particularly of so no skin off my ballsack.

@Tri-TachyonRepresentative Yeah, that incident you mentioned above was the main one I was thinking of. The Fork dev deleted what I think was a tranny NPC because they found the NPC was basically single-handedly fucking up the entire game - apparently the damn tranny was somehow completely breaking most of the major scripts and causing a complete meltdown of the mod. So, the author mentioned that they removed it for the moment until they could find the error and fix it; naturally, CDDA's community being what it is, they immediately started screeching and calling him bigoted/transphobic/cishet/Nazi/etc. and got him banned. From there on... well, you know the rest.

In terms of mods, I've found that I enjoy the mutation mods the most; playing as a cyborg is great, but I kinda enjoy the randomness of the mutations a bit more. Unfortunately, a lot of the really cool/good mutations aren't available outside CDDA; Magicalyms's Black Dragon mutation path - known for being VERY difficult to grab, but ridiculously overpowered once you pass the threshold - can only be found in current versions of the mod, and other forks don't have it up to date... and likely won't ever get it, due to the community. Same with Foxmod, which has a unique kitsune mutation that grants special fire magic; since it's comparatively new, it's only available for CDDA.

What's really shitty is, I could honestly ignore a lot of the pride/tranny shit in CDDA if it wasn't both shoved practically everywhere, and constantly breaking an already-unstable game.

I don't understand why people just cry in the ether. Cataclysm is open source. 4chan fags did their fork, Bright Nights a decade ago. And to be honest I don't even really see a future in CDDA. Not even talking about miss management but what the fuck can you add to the old game that would still be interesting?
The Item management system doesn't work without click through menus. The thermal engine doesn't provide much gameplay potential. There is no way though all the spaghetti code you can actually put in procedurally generated radiant factions worth interacting with. And even if they do, half the players won't give a shit.
I think besides just more core content there isn't anywhere you can take Cataclysm without a new 3D engine.

The Fork dev deleted what I think was a tranny NPC because they found the NPC was basically single-handedly fucking up the entire game - apparently the damn tranny was somehow completely breaking most of the major scripts and causing a complete meltdown of the mod.
Not a tranny (I think) but a Muslim welder girl. Her quest was to find a copy of the quran, and it's not like he didn't remove the vast majority of the NPCs in the refugee center...assuming we're talking about the Delta fork incident and not some other incident. Even then the only...er..."alphabet" people in the center is the gay couple and the actual pervert (borderline sexual harassment last I checked his dialogue which was a while ago) in the bathrooms. There was also the deletion of a single book that set people off as well. That was enough it seems. It was for no other reason than for cutting out bloat and script issues like you mentioned. Wouldn't be the first time a game was weighed down or even outright broken because of some poorly coded fag shit in it.
CoQ had a single tranny self-insert that had patches dedicated to them because people kept finding ways to kill them. The devs and the community are so unfathomably sensitive that all it took was SsethTzeentach making a video for all hell to break loose. I managed to join a dicksword that was formed during the shitshow and proceeded to cause a smaller shitstorm with some lads. It was glorious, there was someone who came in that was basically a spy that kept reporting on our antics and refused to be convinced by any of us for most of the dicksword's lifespan that we weren't actually nazies. No I'm serious. Another incident was for a Minecraft mod which I believe you read in the Minecraft thread so I won't mentioned it.
Seriously read the plebbit post it's hilariously sad how people immediately just labeled him as an alt-right racist nazi yadayada but ignored any defense he gave.
laying as a cyborg is great, but I kinda enjoy the randomness of the mutations a bit more
Agreed, the chaotic nature of it (assuming you aren't going for a simple mutation tree like Prime or Medical) in contrast to the more orderly cyborg route is refreshing and actually challenging since there's more factors to take into account than "find CBM, find autodoc, pray. it doesn't saw your head off or something." Now it's "find copious amounts of mutagen, pray you get the mutations you want, pray the purifier doesn't undo all your hard work." Not to mention how most of it is permenant and changes the gameplay far more than CBMs do.
Really? Oh wow, I just checked my BN install and yeah it's not there. I know Arcana has a Dragon mutation path but it's not the Black dragon. The "sequel" the Magiclysm "Magical Nights" doesn't have it either since it's built off the BN version of Magiclysm. It won't get it because of the community you say? What did the current Magiclysm devs get pissy for BN using its code and told them to not use certain things? I also don't know much about CDDA exclusive stuff since I hardly touch it, what mutation lines are CDDA only (among other cool things)?
Same with Foxmod, which has a unique kitsune mutation that grants special fire magic; since it's comparatively new, it's only available for CDDA.
>Foxmod
Is this furfaggotry or is it an actually cool mod. I see "kitsune" and I'm worried. I can handle weeb shit no problem, furry garbage I avoid if I can help it. I also find it funny how people think some mutations will turn them into cute animal people like that neko shit but in actuality:
1731818466084.png
(Not that I mind, not everyone likes the idea of turning into a freak of nature, but the furfags get way too into it unsurpisingly)
What's really shitty is, I could honestly ignore a lot of the pride/tranny shit in CDDA if it wasn't both shoved practically everywhere, and constantly breaking an already-unstable game.
I just remove the code, my hatred for forced garbage like that when it's unneeded and only there to please people who are notorious for eating their own and the people who kowtow to them at the slightest provocation (which could be literally anything) is making me learn the very basics C++ so I can reliably remove it without breaking the game even further. BTW how unstable is the faggot shit making the game anyway? It is that bad performance wise? I also find it hilarious how they'll keep that shit if it's causing issues they'll mass remove people's favorite guns that aren't causing any issues, really shows where their priorities are eh?
I don't understand why people just cry in the ether. Cataclysm is open source. 4chan fags did their fork, Bright Nights a decade ago.
Not everyone can code, not everyone can learn either (learning disability or lack of time), not everyone wants to either given how much work you'd probably need to put into it, especially if you make a fork that you'll probably stop working on once your remove/add everything you're capable of.
And to be honest I don't even really see a future in CDDA. Not even talking about miss management but what the fuck can you add to the old game that would still be interesting?
I can think of plenty of things, problem is the devs shut down everything if it the work is mostly done for them. The problem is purely mismanagement. If the devs didn't have their heads shoved so far up their ass there could be a lot of ideas that could actually be put into the game, including improving the item management system and this thermal system you speak of, hell even the dynamic faction system is possible but as you said, too much spaghetti code. And like I said, purely mismanagement. If you get people who haven't flunked code wizard school and they actually listened to what people wanted instead of randomly adding/removing/reworking shit that barely works and telling everyone else to fix it, there would be a lot of headaches and a lot more interest.
And even if they do, half the players won't give a shit.
IMO I'd say it's the opposite, it's because people give a shit that things can even done. Sadly this includes people are leaving, while those that remain shit on the devs for their behavior which in turn reinforces said behavior because-again-their heads are too far up their asses to not think anything that isn't blind praise is just "toxic behavior that won't be tolerated." It's a sad state of affairs, and every fork that isn't BN just ends up dying because BN got lucky where the talent saw the writing on the wall for CDDA and went there, while others like Delta and There Is Some Hope are too ambitious for their lack of manpower.

>Foxmod
Is this furfaggotry or is it an actually cool mod.
A few minutes of messing around with it and it seems like a missed opportunity. You hunt foxes to get pearls that you either eat or turn into mutagen. Furry nine-tailed fox with basically no negative traits and buffs to all stats, though the spells are neat. The only bad traits I got were carnivore and pyromaniac, which is a bit boring since half the fun with mutations is trying to work around the downsides and something similar to bat's vampire stuff that would make it require upkeep would have been neat. You can get the ability to disguise yourself as a normal human, which is unique but I don't really see the point?

On a side note what the hell is the new DDA mutagen system? Why do I need to read a reddit essay to figure out a system that used to be "drink mutagen -> mutate"? Mutating over time instead of instantly is neat but did it really require adding catalysts and primers to achieve the exact same end goal but with extra unexplained steps?

The "sequel" the Magiclysm "Magical Nights" doesn't have it either since it's built off the BN version of Magiclysm. It won't get it because of the community you say? I also don't know much about CDDA exclusive stuff since I hardly touch it, what mutation lines are CDDA only (among other cool things)?
It's a time and effort thing since the code is so diverged between DDA and BN and it only gets harder with time. KorG said at some point that he wasn't interested in helping port it over to BN, and most of the framework for the post-split content isn't in BN (The last spell framework port was a year ago and had been in DDA for three years before then). DDA also created its own "enchantment/relic" system that replaced artifact code and that most things now depend on. I've tried to port things over in the past and it's just a pain since any one thing quickly balloons into half a dozen other things that you also need to port or completely remake.

Even for simple mods like Deadly Virus that don't touch spell code, DDA has its own unique way of handling scripting. Back in 2019 DDA axed LUA after a big push from Kevin. Then two years later the guy that made portal storms created the "Effect On Condition" system which is just a heavily-modified version of the DDA dialogue system that fulfills the exact same scripting purposes that LUA used to. BN elected to just re-add LUA instead of porting over everything required to add that which makes porting anything from DDA a pain in the ass. It's a shame since DDA has a lot of cool mods like Mind Over Matter and Xedra Evolved but the framework is just so different. The guy that re-added LUA to BN tried to port Sky Islands over and even with the help of mod's creator he burnt out and gave up since everything had to be remade.

I don't even understand the point of Magical Nights. It's for some reason getting rid of the "magic is everywhere and mundane" setting from Magiclysm and removed the exclusivity between spellcasting schools. It barely adds anything to the original mod so I don't see why the fixes and rebalances couldn't have just been added to Magiclysm itself.

Sounds...boring and OP but without the challenge of getting OP like you normally can. Hunting a few foxes and you become a demigod? No thanks.

Thankfully I think there's a mod you can use to disable that, might be from the Kenan modpack. Seriously what the fuck is this shit? Another unneeded and unwanted change for the "muh realism" agenda which ultimately makes the game less interesting and less !fun!. Thankfully BN didn't adopt this shit either. Seriously how is BN not the "goto" for Cataclysm entirely? Players shitting on the devs for good reason, unwanted changes, bloat and lag, when they do cut bloat it's towards shit no one wants removed, actually good changes are rudely shut down with no reason given, mass bans and silencing, I see almost none of this in BN. BN has issues I'm sure but they're heavily outweighed by all the other things they get right.
DDA also created its own "enchantment/relic" system that replaced artifact code and that most things now depend on. I've tried to port things over in the past and it's just a pain since any one thing quickly balloons into half a dozen other things that you also need to port or completely remake.
Trying to port over anything is a huge pain in the ass. I've tried with the simplest things and it's just not worth it half the time.
Then two years later the guy that made portal storms created the "Effect On Condition" system which is just a heavily-modified version of the DDA dialogue system that fulfills the exact same scripting purposes that LUA used to.
I have no idea why they removed it to this day. I think the main reason was that not enough people were utilizing it to keep it around.
It's a shame since DDA has a lot of cool mods like Mind Over Matter and Xedra Evolved but the framework is just so different.
I swear I've seen ports of these to BN, I could just be mistaking them for other mods.
The guy that re-added LUA to BN tried to port Sky Islands over and even with the help of mod's creator he burnt out and gave up since everything had to be remade.
Really? God damn I can't imagine how much of a mess it was.

I haven't looked into it but yeah it doesn't really have anything that warrants using it over Magiclysm, probably why no one talks about it.

Are you talking about the specific categories of mutation groups? It seems like a themed class system to me, just for mutations. Probably intended to prevent save-scumming your way to being a god, or doing the same but with copious use of purifiers.

So I found something rather interesting:

1736305843710.png
Not only does he not want to help port (which I can understand), he seems to be going after Magical Nights for...attribution? I assume that "you didn't credit me enough." That's exactly it:

Kek. The eggplant with a and is an animated emoji of a hand jerking off the emoji, which is probably obvious.

Long time developer for CDDA (about a decade I believe) was recently kicked by Kevin. Reason? Calling a dev retard:
1737269219407.jpeg
Plebbit link:
1737269340360.png
Git screenshot (not worth linking the git), I mentioned Holli before, they're one of those "I'm going to do what I want and no one is allowed to question me, if they do I'll insult them then get someone (usually Kevin or his sycophants) to ban them if they don't immediately fuck off" trannies, specifically they really like removing items that make it more than a "generic zombie apocalypse."
1737269554595.png
Seriously it's just removing shit. Apparently they removed some recipes recently because "you're not DIYing that" even though some of the shit they claim is not "DIYable" are shit that can be made with the right skill set. Geiger counter, welding and swimming goggles (really?), a landmine, fucking cake.
Pryanik posted a farewell:
1737269277775.png
Imagine yourself being in CDDA developers team. This means that you are a contributor, but also have the right to merge PRs, open and close issues and PRs, edit other contributors' posts, create, edit, and delete tags for issues and PRs, and some other bureaucratic stuff. You have NEVER abused these rights, i.e. never closed issues or PRs without proper justification, never locked up the conversation even if you don't like it, and so on. You also never violated any code of conduct in any official project platform, like github, discord, discourse, or official subreddit. As a developer, you are perfectly clean, so to say.
And then imagine your sudden throwing out from the developers team by the project leader. So, what do you think could be the reason for this? Apparently it's the freedom of speech! When you have the outrageous impudence of expressing your opinion about some person in some non-affiliated social platform, like this subreddit.
Furthermore, it's not a full ban like when your words somehow mortally offended project leader and he decided that you're no longer welcome in the project. No, he just removes you from the developers team, like you did something inexcusable wrong as a developer, as a bureaucrat.
So, you ask for explanations and try to understand, how participation in developers team and posts in third-party social platform are intertwined? Well, bad for you, because project leader doesn't care if you understand.
Funny feeling.
More context:
1737269250286.png
Did any of you guys actually read the comment that got him banned? It's because he called another member of the dev team a "retard". People are acting like it's because he spoke out against bad-dev and how Kevin just hates all criticism.
But if you actually read the comment he got kicked out for it is pretty obvious why. You can't call other people on the dev team with you "retards" dude that is so hostile I'd kick you off too at least try to be professional.
Madness, dare I say "blob psychosis" that his post is top of the subreddit right now and he isnt mentioning the obvious real reason why he got kicked out. Very manipulative.
Source:I'm not on the dev team but I can read
Pyranik's last words on the matter:
1737269823600.png
Before posting that ill-fated comment, I consulted with my usual translation service (Google Translate to be precise). I needed some lightweight swear word because I was really frustrated, but I didn't mean to mortally insult anyone, or moreover use a slur on anyone (especially that I didn't knew this term even exist at that time). And google translate assured me that the word I chose fits for this goal, kinda.
See the attached pic. "придурок" in Russian is rather inoffensive swear word, almost non-alcoholic-beer level, that is widely used even amongst friends (without the intention to offend or insult), at least in my environment.
And now I realize that my words most probably created a way more offending effect that I planned. So, while I still insist that I did not directly called anyone a slur, I apologize to anyone whom I might have offended. Such a strong meaning of the word was NOT intended.
I don't expect that this post will change dev team's opinion or that they take me back or whatever. I just felt that this whole situation needs some clarification.
Happy New Year to everyone.
1737269838297.jpeg
You can easily guess who they're calling a retard. TL;DR this sums it up:
1737270166527.png
Bonus:
1737269925171.png
Accurate. Also, funny thing I learned, alt-f4 doesn't really work as it should anymore with the new shitty UI change. You can't close the game immediately anymore, you need to confirm it in a text box pop up. However it is not prioritized properly so any other pop up from the new garbage UI will hide it. The devs know this, they don't plan on fixing it because it's unintentionally what they want (inconveniencing the player out of spite) so of course they approve of it. Reject CDDA, embrace BN, others are doing it more because of how much (negative) autism is suddenly coming out from the dev team. As someone pointed out, they clearly were just looking for an excuse to remove him since he was the only guy pointing dumb shit out and was an obstacle for their mass unneeded removal into a game they (or probably the tranny they're simping for) clearly want, so this was the perfect excuse.

Apparently they were talking copious amounts of shit to him too. Keep in mind that he was a dev who (from what he's saying, grain of salt people) always met deadlines, never asked for a raise, and did it for 15+ fucking years. So we can add "better than them by far" to the list of reasons they wanted him gone. Notice how as soon, the literal second a troon gets on the dev team they immediately turn everything into cancerous drama faggotry.

Double post but something funny I found. Basically instead of someone telling you to kill yourself for disagreeing with someone, they report you for self harm. :story:
1737274536147.png
This happens a lot apparently, leads people to believe it's either a dev (or devs), sycophant of them, or a troll. Also someone made a fork that restored a lot of the shit that was removed or changed, unfortunately it was made by an 30 yo massive furry coomer who wants you to engage in furfaggotry with them.

Great news: The dude who keeps removing shit is actually adding something instead!
Add pronoun/pride pins #79572

For context, the justification for ripping out bits and pieces is "erm, it's just not realistic"

I follow the Project zomboid development fairly closely and it's always amazing how these kind of games always attract autists and their programmer socks genophage. Same thing Caves of Quud. No wonder Dwaf fortress went with kitfox for publishing. It'll be poetic when Toady or his failbrother troons out, end of an age even.

I am completely, utterly unsurprised. Can't say nothing either or you're a bigot...
Same thing Caves of Quud.
I remember when me and randoms trolled the subreddits and dicksword when Sseth made that video, it was deserved since the devs (well most of them, one of the furfags they have just wants to dev and not deal with the sperging) are supreme faggots. It got so bad that anyone who mentioned us in anything but a negative light either got their post(s) deleted or straight up banned, which unintentionally brought more people to us. Someone came to our dicksword and to "spy" and report back to...either the offical CoQ dicksword or plebbit, he kept crying Nazi and how we're Hitler's black hand, not even kidding. Imagine his confusion when we didn't ban him.
Dwaf fortress went with kitfox for publishing
Someone I know knows more about that shit than I care to, will share some screenshots of what he talked about, but from what he told me Kitfox was a deal with the devil so they could pay off their Mother's hospital fees.

Some autistic RPG 1-6 hour summative nigger lore dump and CDDA Something Awful LP jewtuber called Wurm Girl had trouble with the CDDA codebase refusing to merge their acid splash damage calculation changes based on coverage percent. They made a fork.

I'm not familiar with CDDA enough to know if these changes are objectively great, really retarded, or down to a matter of subjective tastes. Personally, I'm excited for grappling and throwing.
