Esperanto is something I only see being pushed and gushed about on reddit, so I automatically assume a redditor helped make this game.
The dream of Esperanto is still alive 135 years later.

You can read the fun history here:

In his work, Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler specifically mentioned Esperanto as an example of a language that could be used by an international Jewish conspiracy once they achieved world domination.

Oh God I'm gonna PREBOOOOONK. OH GOD THIS IS BETTER THAN DEBOONKING. OH GOD I'M INNOCULATED AGAINST RIGHTOID DISINFO AAAAAH.

Nice way to spend my fuckin money you pricks. It could've at least been made American instead of outsourced to the Dutch. I'm starting to think euro developers are a crock of shit (except Notch he was based even if his game is an autism magnet).

I played the game (which took 10 minutes) and in the end you basically find out that you were being manipulated into creating propaganda for a rich douche bag, and then you finish the game game by using the techniques you learned to fix the damage you created.

This sounds like a good ending until you think about it.

Do you really just use the same techniques? Because of so this comes off as a case of "No bad tactics, only bad targets". Using le manipulation to spread misinformation bad, but if you use le manipulation to spread goodinformation then it good!

Do they bother to explain why these techniques are bad? How do they make a difference between spreading a rumour (good) and spreading a rumor (bad) without explaining critical thinking and fact checking?

This entire things reeks of shitty soviet propaganda, where you at the same time need to have The Enemy be a weak buffoon and a existential threat, and our progressive worker utopia be a flawless society where everyone is hyper competent but at the same time under threat from these enemies. Enemies which are around every corner, but not really because our society is working perfectly according to plan, except when it isn't... See what I mean?

From their recent results- the left needs to spend LESS time on crappy games.

From a cursory glance I conclude this game is about "how unfairly maligned communities like trannies can be, and how we've all got to practice mental and moral hygiene to prevent ourselves from becoming horrible prejudists". Anybody whose knee jerked and thought this was anything else is a stupid asshole and should understand this is why you try to stop your knee from jerking.

In the game, you, the player character, realize from the beginning that the entire operation is bad but you are forced to go along anyways because it's just a game. They literally say this in the game if you try not to spread propaganda: "This is just a simulation and no one gets hurt, so play along" and then you have to do what they want in order to progress in the game. There is zero subtly in this game, they hit you over the head with the message they're trying to send.

They do actually, it's very simple and basic but it didn't come across as "Some propaganda is good, actually", it was "This is how people can manipulate you into feeling and believing things that aren't true". As I said before, obviously people could use this information to do bad things, but that's always the trade off when it comes to informing people about anything. Kind of like how learning how to dox someone can be used for good, it can also be used by bad people to hurt others.

I think for what they were trying to do, it's... fine. Just fine. Most people here would play it and not find it useful because they are already aware of these tactics and don't fall for him. However, there are lots of people that could benefit from learning to pause and do some critical thinking when it comes to reading headlines. Hell, even on KF I sometimes see kiwis sperging out over a headline and believing it without even bothering to read the actual article and applying some critical thinking skills.

All that being said. I think the bigger issue is this game is boring, and certainly not worth a quarter of a million dollars to produce, much less by a studio that is outside of the USA. This game is truly bland and looks like something a gaming hobbyist could have made over the weekend for free. This thing cost so much to make yet it's so shitty, you just know the company probably spent about $1,000 of that money to outsource some guys in India to create it, while the CEO pocketed the rest. It's 100% a scam. It's a reminder that our government wastes billions of dollars on bullshit projects like this.

What a pile of fucking shit. I know they weren't going to try to be any level of subtle, but this is uniquely bad in that they were too lazy to even program a fake game over screen if you choose to not play along with their crap.

Imagine if in Frostpunk (which arguably demonstrates the message this game is going for better, in a more impactful way, alongside other related messages, without being overbearing or politically biased), instead of having the choice between passing totalitarian laws to make the game easier or intentionally avoiding them, the game told you "Hey, this isn't really the last city on Earth, you can be a murderous tyrant with no real consequences so just do it so we can beat you over the head with the bad ending".

Yeah, it really is a trash game and feels like something a redditor would make. Overly wordy and they try very hard to not make it problematic.

I mentioned earlier, The Republia Times is free to play and is actually fun and engaging. And it was made by a single man who made it for fun.

Seriously? Why it isn't about a park for cats?

Also, I'm pretty sure that hag Amy Schumer had a skit about a cat park.

Lingfags like it cause people actually use it as an Auxlang (Auxiliary Constructed Language). Unfortunately, many Lingfags are also Redditards.

Esperanto is actually pretty neat, but the name is dumb and the history of it is a century long soap opera of autism.

This bullshit probably cost the tax payers 16 million dollars that ended up lining someone's pocket

George Orwell was inspired by Esperanto in making Newspeak. Evidently, some members of his family were great Esperanto fans and he absolutely hated it growing up. When the language was still newish there were a lot of people who had some kind of Utopian idea everyone on Earth would be able to speak one common language in addition to their own native ones. It was a not uncommon Liberal idea for like twenty years. Of course nowadays people are more cognizant that if Esperanto was successful, nobody would bother speaking their tribal languages and the language death would be immense, so the great Liberal idea is focusing on regional languages instead. Hitler was unironically ahead of the curve on his opinion of Esperanto.
