I'm sure none of these people would spend a day in those places anyway.
Nor would they put in any actual work to improve those places. If they can organize a protest for a long gone pinata store they can organize a way to fucking build a new one.

The baseline reason they don't want "gentrification" is they want "affordable housing" which is their filthy stacked chicken coop hovels owned by slumlords that were built in 1948 that don't cost much to rent because nobody with any sense would live there if they had the money to NOT live there. It's sort of a seriously misguided attempt to "help" the poor (without actually helping them). Their pea brains have at least put together that improvements in buildings usually equals more rent, so they oppose improvements because it would raise their rent.
Even if they were genuinely concerned with poor people not being able to pay the rising rent prices, how sympathetic should we really be? Oh no, you have to move to a more affordable area?! Why do they think they have a right to live in one place forever?

Shit, our ancestors never stopped moving before they discovered agriculture. That was a hard life. And sure, they had less stuff to haul around, but that only highlights how the Western "poor" these days are rich as fuck in comparison to almost everyone in human history. (And compared to most people on Earth now.)

"It's unreasonable to expect me to move all my absurdly affordable luxuries to a different place I can afford to live! I want a better community without the inevitable higher rent prices!! I don't care if that's impossible, give it to me now now now or you're a racist!!!"

Regressives are narcissist cargo cultists. They're obsessed with surface appearances and completely ignorant of and uninterested in the underlying rules that make things work. They expect it all to work regardless because everything in the world exists to accommodate them. They will accrue the rewards and accept none of the risks because they're special exceptional.

I can't wrap my brain around the mindset that staying in squalor and poverty is better than a higher standard of living.
Well, no, it's somewhat more complicated than that.

The neighborhood will be improving. The people there will be receiving a higher standard of living. It's just that that won't include you anymore, you poor fuck.

And that's a legit reason to be cranky about gentrification. I sympathize with people who feel that way.

Now the solution to gentrification is simple: own your own home. Then you can't be kicked out. (Or, well, groceries and virtually everything will still be expensive as shit, so I guess it isn't a solution, so much as a "good start" to a solution.)

But the problem is people want to rest on their laurels. Plenty of people out there, like CWC, are happy just being poor fucks their whole lives. They want to work at walmart, drink bud lite, and come home to their crappy rental apartment in their crappy-but-improving neighborhood without ever paying for the fancier surroundings. If they had it their way, they'd die at the ripe old age of 68 with a can of shitty beer in their hand with nascar on the TV.

But the problem with being a poor fuck is that you don't get to be the driver's seat. The people in the driver's seat, the rich people, get to decide first where they want to live, and you have to get in line behind them.

Don't like it? Too bad. Either get richer or shut the fuck up.

(For the record, I support various programs to make it easier for poorer people to pay off their mortgages and shit. A working stiff who tries to improve his life by owning a home is a way more valuable person to society than a lifelong renter.)

One thing I hear bandied around is that "poor people have nowhere to go" when their neighborhood is gentrified. It's bullshit, but that is what people actually think. Trailer parks out in the country exist for a reason. That seems like a much more workable solution than swimming against the tide of rising property values and taxes in a densely populated urban area that the residents cannot afford to pay.

Suppose you're some 80 year old on Social Security on a fixed income. You're in no position to improve anything or do anything but move out. People don't like being driven from their homes where they may have been living for 50 years.

Attacking cats is a shitty way of doing anything about it, though, and these particular people are just outright scum.

Is this different from the one that happened awhile ago where people were pissed that this cat café is in the spot of a former piñata store or some shit? Or is it just an update to that one?

Yeah I remember that.

Ironically it's a white guy in the video telling other white people to "GET OUT"! If SJW were so concerned about non-white business then they should buy from there instead of white owned business. But I guess harassing people and gluing doors shut so innocent cats will starve. Hopefully PETA will come and we can have a SJW themed WWE match.

How is Juan going to know he's offended if white people don't let him know that he is? He's probably too busy working three jobs to care about a pinata store displaced by a cat cafe.

Yeah lots of people aren't big on change, but then again if they fall and break their hip it's straight to that crooked nursing home on 60 minutes.

What, and live right next to racist YT who turn up their TVs whenever NASCAR or the Young and the Restless is on? Surely you jest.

Never thought I'd see the day when SJWs get so exceptional, they start screaming "NORMIES GET OUT!" to a bunch of cats.

They're claiming that she has neo-Nazi ties, and that she abuses her friends' pets, that she tried to poison her neighbor's dog, etc. I don't believe a single word of it.

and its not like rich whites are sitting around the cat cafe like dr evil or something. cat cafes are usually shelters for the kitties and will often expedite cat adoptions

If anything, I think that's a social justice issue, finding homes for stray animals that would otherwise be put to sleep. :( (I'll bet these assholes are probably all vegan too)

They harassed the guy doing the murals, and yelled at him for his "white art". Dude's a Venezuelan immigrant who makes a living with his artwork. Assholes, each and every one of them.

Fucking SJWs ruining everything. That idiot with the megaphone doesn't know he's disturbing the cats? That they hear his fucking voice a lot louder? He probably doesn't even care.

That's not a problem, somebody has to work at Walmart.

Kinda reminds me of when a bunch of unwashed hippies attacked a cereal cafe in London

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp....fe-targeted-by-anti-gentrification-protesters

The whole gimmick of the place is it sells foreign cereals at £6 a bowl which even in London for a breakfast, that is pretty cheap. But instead of remembering wheatos and rice crispies cost almost half that at corner shops they had to complain about “muh gentrification”.

Get a fucking Denny's or something, damn. Do you know how much biscuits and gravy that buys? A lot.

But that's the whole point, isn't it? The overhead of operating a restaurant in a big city means you have to charge outrageous prices for bowls of cereal. Rent, taxes, licences, permits, etc. That adds up. The only businesses that are viable are priced out of the range poor people can afford. The only stuff that is affordable to them comes from places where operating is cheap. In a big city that means the ghetto. To keep it affordable they desire to keep it as shitty and terrible as possible. Hence the "gentrification" nonsense with the protesting and other shenanigans to drive out urban renewal.

Again, why is living in the country and buying shit from walmart, denny's, and the dollar store bad? At least that doesn't demand perpetual lawlessness to keep it economically viable to the neighborhood. You can be poor almost anywhere outside of a big city and live somewhat comfortably. Why the fuck do they have to be poor there?

These are the things I ponder when I drive across the country and see mile after mile of abandoned houses melting into the ground because nobody is there to live in and take care of them. You can buy fixer-uppers for under $50k in many places. Renting houses is cheap. The schools are passable. Crime is low. If you aren't working and collecting government checks, who cares what the job market looks like, that's a winner.

I actually have an example of this snippet and why sometimes, shit sucks.

Idk if i've brought this up before but I live near a p infamous (in this city) low income housing project. Or lived since they tore it the fuck down because of all the crime, drugs, and sheer unfiltered levels of poverty. It was built in the 40s i believe and over time it just turned into a cesspool. Well, they had to place these people somewhere, so the government in my state/city/whatever gave the former residents of said slumshitter projects vouchers to move somewhere. Now, i don't know just what the vouchers specifically entailed but i do know because of them a lot of very nice subdivisions and areas turned into pockets of nogdom almost instantaneously.

I like gentrification but it's such a mixed bag. Fucking with a cat cafe actually does nothing for these issues though and it takes a special special person to do some shit like this.

Apparently her BROTHER is a neo-Nazi, so that automatically means she is. And that someone from Infowars came out to interview her. That's it. She didn't seek them out, and it doesn't seem like she's involved in her brother's activities.

This is why a lot of the resistance to "gentrification" is stupid and short-sighted. If a neighborhood remains complete shit long enough, eventually the city can and quite possibly will seize it under eminent domain citing "blight," and rip everything down and kick everyone out.

Yep, it's just kicking the can down the road. Eventually the area will collapse and depopulate. Keeping it functioning artificially will only heighten the fall when the burden becomes too large for the city government to prop up with tax dollars. Stopping gentrification requires throwing out everything city planners know will work in favor of keeping these things alive like some kind of human petting zoo.

If they were to just let it take it's course the transition would be much smoother. The people would benefit to a greater degree. You wouldn't just be dumping thousands of poor people into the suburbs in one go but slowly over time. There would be much larger benefits from improved economic conditions and infrastructure for everyone involved as the transition happens.
