No, but its evident that it is all demystified. Basically in line with the secular atheist viewpoint of the devs. The shitflix TV show even had some fedora explanation for why crosses harm vampires, I imagine it will be in line with that.
This I understand. I wasn't talking about people not liking the music or visual aesthetics. I was more so talking about stuff like that 4chan post from earlier where people were getting mad about Leon. I haven't played whichever game Leon is from so maybe he's a very well written character who's arc is ruined by the choices they make in this new one, but based off of what I've seen of the series so far I doubt it.
Because it takes the essential ingredients (minimal they may be) to Castlevania and shoehorns in Netflixvania 'lore' complete with fedoraisms that demystifies the whole thing. Holy Water? No. Crosses? Nope, it's all some gay alchemy or something instead.
I also don't like the "magic was actually science all along" thing. At least if it's anything like how the DMC show handled. And the guy who made that show was also involved in Netflixvania if I remember correctly.
And I admit I have a ulterior motive - I liked that as a Catholic, there existed a series that respected Catholicism and made it look like a force for good for once. To then take a series I liked (even on its own merits) and then use it to blasphemously attack Saints (Joan of Arc is apparently a boss) is too much for me.
If it's any consolation I remember seeing somewhere that she's actually being mind controlled or something and helps the protag afterwards. I don't really care if the story is "church bad", but people do seem to be tired of those kinds of stories. And I'm not just talking about chud audiences, I think general audiences seem to prefer more nuanced stories about religion these days.

They seriously had that as an explanation? I'm gonna be a little autistic for a bit and I assumed that the holy water flasks burst in flames because they react against evil and dark presence, after all it's blessed with holy powers and Drac's castle is entirely made of evil, the ground, the walls, everything so it acts like a molotov there. But outside of the castle it's just a normal water in a flask unless it hits an evil creature or object.
And if you take note of how the holy water doesn't even go in flames after hitting the ground in Castlevania 2, which makes sense because you're just walking through a natural part of the world.
With the crosses, it was something like "their minds cannot process right angles so seeing a cross with four of them makes their brains go kaput lol", but then Nogturne gets rid of all that and lets Nigganette kill an evulz slaver vampire with crosses working in the good ol' "holy burns dark" way because she wuz gods n shit.
God, really? You're unfortunately right. For the travesty they created I wish Netflix gets hit by H1-B removal Microsoft is getting right now even if they didn't abuse it that much.

They could have used the Blade series for more science-y and less religious reasons. Silver and garlic kills vamps not because they're deemed as holy but because their body is 200% allergic to them, which is actually a decent way to spin it. Stakes work because vampires, like humans don't take kindly into getting their heart punctured.
Speaking of which I wonder what happened to the upcoming reboot of that? On the second thought, I liked Blade so it's better off to be put into rest and not let them touch that, and just let Blade I and II movies be its lasting legacy.
They maliciously fucked this up.
EDIT: I changed some words because I was retarded that I ended up on mixing them up by mistake.

If you read the spoilers it's apparently because Joan doubted God and "begged for her life" at the last second and thus Dracula took her soul instead. Trust me, it's worse than you think.

Nothing good is what happened. Mahershela Ali or whatever his name is butted heads a lot with the production, part due to scheduling issues and part due to allegedly the writers wanting to make this movie actually about Blade's estranged daughter and Blade actually dies in his debut movie(which was a no no for Ali because he was expecting to hop on that MCU gravy train) and passes the mantle and you know the score by now.
Yes, this comes up a lot. People act like it's just a reference but the real reason they used it is because audiences were doing things like assuming God was real and good based on how holy water worked in the first season.
And that's bad. So the second season they made unholy water from an undead bishop do the exact same thing.

At least he did some of the same things as his predecessor. Those problems are eerily similar to what happened with Snipes on Blade III which is a terrible movie in its own way.
I enjoyed the free demo for the new Castlevania game heartily, and it's very apparent that the Dead Cells team did their homework and then some. There's a reason Konami's fucking confident enough to deploy a Demo with this one - it's really good.
But holy shit, does this hit like a ray of fucking sunshine compared to other games getting started after a long hiatus.
For one, it completely rejects the fucking Anime series' way of doing things (and also its plot) and almost all current characterization trends to bring you a ginger protagonist who has a good relationship with her father, said father being portrayed as fucking stupidly competent, and Rose being plucky and confident but not complete bullshit. You get the feeling from playing her (and her dialogue) that she took *every* goddamn lesson to heart, and the game isn't afraid to show her out of her depth, which is nice.
A reoccurring theme is that she quotes her dad's adages, and it comes across as rather wholesome. I like it.
I came in expecting I was going to hate Rose, but I genuinely like what I've seen so far.
The overall gameplay loop is a bit closer to Dead Cells than conventional Castlevania, but it actually really works. There's a definite emphasis on exploration that reminds me of Team Ladybug's Metroidvanias, and the graphic style lends itself to really dynamic, stylized locales that have this harsh, almost comic book-esque lighting that kind of remind me of the old Castlevania Visual Novels. It is very difficult, and the bosses will absolutely fuck you in the ass until you've determined how they move and react, but the overall effect is rather striking.
The music is really good too, but it's also not really what I would expect - and while there's a few new remixes of old tracks, it pushes hard on the synth and it gives everything this very unique and crisp audio vibe.
The story's interesting, though the Demo only gives you a tiny bit of it. Paris is in deep shit, and the Bishop has sent for the Belmont clan, despite their exile, since every other avenue has failed them. The bishop is offering a pardon, title, and gold for helping to deal with the crisis, but Trevor muses that this tips his hand at what the Bishop himself wants - a Belmont needs no such rewards to do the right thing.
Rose agrees to scout ahead and see who she can help in the immediate area while Trevor meets with the church, taking full advantage of the fact that the church doesn't know he's not the only Belmont - and from there, our game begins.
The Demo and trailers have revealed that Isaac (from Curse of Darkness) is present (back in his original red-headed pretty boy form and played by Liam O'Brien once more, eat shit, CV Anime), as well as Brauner (from Portrait of Ruin), and the Demo left me wondering where the fuck they're going with this.
Overall a decent time, check it out if it suits you, the Demo's free.
This is going to age very poorly if the datamine is correct.
You forgot how Netflixvania did an out-of-nowhere rugpull where a seemingly good character was some kind of child shoe-collecting murderer and pederast.

So the hardcore glazing is because everyone is so desperate for anything Castlevania-related that has no ties to the Netflixvania shitshow that they will fellate whatever shit Konami and random outsourced company spit out, got it. This is a repeat of Silent Hill's attempted revival attracting a lot of huge fans excited to play it for the first time, isn't it? >Music is very good, very unique, very crisp
Ah yes, because when I think of Castlevania, I think of poorly mixed instruments and muffled farts.

in terms of "not in actual Castlevania games" Castlevania music, the king is Vampire Survivors.
You can tell the guy who made this game loves Castlevania more than modern Konami does, and literally created his entire game, that sold many many millions of copies, just so that he could ply that leverage and good will to get Konami to let him do an official Castlevania crossover, because this nigga put literally every character in the franchise in as playable and all their music.
I know he employed James "Sterrr Dust" Sterling, but I don't care, fucker is based in my book, in this thread, he's a HERO end of story.
