series hasn't been hard for a long time, though, SoTN is one of the most braindead easy games in the genre of vania's, and you can snowball even harder than that with the smallest of effort.
It starts off hard in the first stretch after you lose your equipment, but yeah, after that you get access to way too much different cool shit the devs wanted to throw into the game (which does make it fun in its own broken way)

I hope the game has an option that's clearly labelled "this is the intended difficulty". In a game with lots difficulty options, figuring out which is the actual best one is always annoying to me.

Nocturne was such a shit show beyond the maria and her turned mom plot, Creole ex-slave geomancer takes complete center stage, it's entirely about an Egyptian Goddess reborn into an evil Russian and then into her most devoted follower who's a nigger, who then dukes it out with the good half of the goddess possessing the Creole nigger, then despite being completely whooped by the Goddess earlier, Richter suddenly realizes he's supposed to be the main character and easily beats Nigger+bad goddess half
Also they have Juste be involved but mostly irrelevant, he looked cool.

...Wasnt there suppose to be a Dracula in there somewhere?

Also turning Richter into Steven Universe is absolutely unforgivable

no, in a controversial but at least unique move.. at the end of the 2nd season Trevor fights Death, and meanwhile the con man alchemist guy Ressurects both Dracula and his late wife (Julia I think?) originally Death wanted to res both.. in the same body to make them insane and keep Drac doing his "kill everyone alive" shtick.

well the Con Man Alchemist guy actually succeeds in ressing both of them with his dying breath properly, they escape unnoticed by Trevor or Alucard or Sypha and simply.. retire, to London of all places, happily ever after, Dracula sorta reforms, at least gives up his crusade.

so he's out of the picture and in this season they had to make up some dumb bullshit for Richter and crew to fight, so here we are.

So...basically the series is aimless now, right? Because Dracula is kind of the "core" of the franchise and altho its not beyond the realm of possibility that the Belmonts can just simply fight other creatures of The Night, the count is kind of meant to be their "white whale", ya know? The devil archetype.

This is like doing a Zelda or Megaman series and Ganondorf or Dr Willy just kind of quit for good. Its just not fucking happening, or else the series is kind of "lost" now

Maybe the move was "unique" but, damn, it kind of ruins everything now, doesnt it? Then again, it is Netflix's Castlevania and they seem to be more into ruining Devil may Cry now so...

yea but it doesn't work for a show, because if you see Dracula get bodied once, you will think "why can't he get bodied again, with a more powerful Belmont"? for games you know "well this is THIS belmonts time to do it" but for a t.v. show this isn't how narratives spin, unless you power up Drac, which they basically never do in the games either.

doing 6 seasons of different belmonts increasingly easily whooping Dracula's ass like the games isn't a compeling overarching plot.

In a way I'm kind of glad that right now they haven't done a game set with Julius Belmont in 1999 "Demon Castle War" because I don't think they can make a game right now that would live up to the height of the plot with the last belmont who put away Dracula for good.

So the new Castlevania is going to have game journalist options. For a game series that was known for being the definition of hard before the Souls games showed up.
And of course the dungeon had to go and post a take so shit it made the whole site unstable for a while (I kept getting 502 errors for days while trying to take a screenshot) :story:

I'd accept it if they made it like in older games where easy mode locks you up of some things and forces you to pick a harder difficulty to see everything, but in current year I guess that's offensive to DSP-tier "gaymurs".
Game journalists and casual players were filtered out heavily with Pathologic 2 and gave it lower scores as a result which led to Ice-Pick to add customizable options to either make the game easier or harder. I've beaten Pathologic 2 in it's intended difficulty and while it may be hard, it's not frustratingly hard nor it being outright unfair. It's not piss easy as Pathologic 1 and you can plan ahead to deal with the on coming days that will have something happen to make it harder to deal with.

Dying is something that is treated as a game mechanic in that it explains further lore you wouldn't know if you didn't die plus each time you die, it will slightly cripple your stats in someway to pay the price of coming back. There is an option to not sacrifice something everytime you die when you have been killed a certain amount of times but it comes at a huge cost.
You are denied seeing the ending and finale because you traded your soul to a character who won't let you continue further

I mean.. Ill say it again, lets SEE how this new game is before we say they can't do shit, and by "they" the studio they are getting to make this game.

I'm personally leaning towards "it'll be fun but very different" from all the footage.

I think something REALLY doesn't want that event to be portrayed in any way, especially considering that not one, but TWO fangames trying to tackle it got put "indefinitely on hold". I remember when a game trying to tackle that subject got teased in the dungeon over a decade ago. I was 16, now I'm 27 and out of pure curiosity checked the progress and it turns out it's been inactive for years. Then they tried doing a Bloodstained COTM-style smaller version in 2022 and that one also got canned just a few days ago.

well I wouldn't say its Konami, they'd whore it out if they could, since they are now basically fully owned by the Yakuza.

I thought the Yakuza was basically a non-entity by now.
I mean they are and they aren't, they run alot of legitimate shit and likely do illegal shit on the side and make deals with the cops to let it slide, so gambling, tons of Japanese porn industries, and other seedier ventures they will run totally legit.

Do some of those JAV stars also escort to men the Yakuza set up, absolutely, if you think they are a non entity, when they are one of the oldest organized crime rackets in human history, I dunno what to say.

I just remember hearing a lot about how in recent years the Japanese government finally got its act together and cracked down hard on the Yakuza to improve the country's image on the international stage, but it does make sense some of them would go more underground and continue business.

Yea and I was told by Biden the refugee crisis was nipped and Trump said everyone is happy with the economy and German politicians say the rape crisis isn't real too.

Oh please we all know if they could get the whole Netflixvania cast they would have. It's shocking they didn't try to shove in Homolrox.

At least Liam O'Brien is back as Isaac.
Plus Aaron LaPlante's getting more work, he was great as Spear in Primal so it's good to see him getting roles.
