God, the doomerism here is pretty annoying. You all are the reason why this place is being called Green Reddit nowadays. I know it's good to be pessimistic but being this retarded and insistent about it is just annoying. I would like Konami to fuck off forever and have their IPs given to others, don't get me wrong. Because they killed everything great because of pachinko garbage and only are going back to making games and reviving their IP after the japs in the government said "no more slot machines" and it would be a poetic lesson of biblical proportions if that happens.

Wait for it to get released, look for people's feedback of it, see how it plays on your own and if it's terrible don't buy it, or don't even pirate it. You can think what's good in it and if it really holds up, great. If not, then hopefully Konami gets felted that not even the Netflix tourists will save it. I have a good feeling they won't even play this and they're the same as those comic book tourists every comic book writer pandered to years ago and it'll end up in those gaming-related griefing threads we have here.

It's not like the doomerism here will stop its production.

I started playing Portrait of Ruin for the first time yesterday and its pretty fun :)
I'd say PoR was one of the best in the series because it had a ton of area variety of ton of weapon variety and areas and its wild to me they followed that game up with Order
I played Order of Ecclesia first and I agree with this so far. It's also very funny to me that they just completely gave up trying to use the DS touch screen after Dawn of Sorrow.
"I guess we can have them.... Draw their save file icon? I don't fucking know man just ship it"

Me, playing SoTN Recomp: Gesh louis, I could try to get that Medusa Shield, it shouldnt take too long, just kill some medusa heads and we are golden! Or should I say "stoned"! *winks to non existent audience cuz I got no friends*

*cue 5 fucking level ups later*

Well, whoever said that it only takes around 1 hour of grinding can officially step on a lego because that was a fucking lie.

Edit: suddenly the Medusa shield drops 10 minutes after I drop this post. :blart:

I really need to get around to playing Rondo of Blood already. I feel like I've played so many other Castlevania games besides R.O.B

The problem is that there isnt an "easy" way to play it, at least on PC, that doesnt involve emulating the PSP game or the PC Engine version.

It would sure be awesome if we could have that Castlevania Requiem collection on Steam but I guess Sony/Konami cant help but be a motherfucker about it and keep it exclusive.

I remember trying Dracula x chronicles on PSP but not really liking the style. Didn't know it had the original Rondo on it though.

Meanwhile the literal manual and box, and the main reason everyone knows the remake:
manual-page9.jpg usbox-back.jpg
No excuse to not know it.

You know, looking back, the belmonts not being around really left a massive problem for the world to deal with and the three games set between that and 1999 (Order, Bloodlines and Portrait of Ruin) really demonstrated how replacing them either backfired or/and came at immense sacrifice (kind of literally for the Morris clan)

I am probably the biggest Castlevania fan you'll ever interact with who doesn't, like, run a website or own all the merch. I've played nearly everything extensively that's been released for the series. I love love love the series.

And I want Konami to go bankrupt so badly. They were probably my favorite third party punisher and developer growing up. But watching them farm out some of my favorite IPs to Western devs is deeply depressing and occasionally blasphemous.

This new game will be Castlevania in name only. I like Dead Cells. It will probably be a solid game. But it's not Castlevania.

Kill the series and the publisher outright before they rape and sully everything they used to be. I've moved on to Bloodstained and Blasphemous.

I haven't played Dead Cells yet but I'm willing to give it a try. It reminds me of Nintendo farming out their IPs to other companies who gave us Metroid Prime and Hyrule Warriors.

I put a Castlevania deep dive video on Judas' profile page and the guy did some deep research to find articles and interviews in japanese, where the original Castlevania staff were competing with TMNT internally and losing in terms of resources getting allocated to them almost right from the start. They struggled to get every game out with a vision and we're lucky to have gotten what we have. The suits at the top were always against us :(

The seals feel terrible on the Dominus collection with a controller, I had to use the rewind time function to retry a few because the shoulder button combinations are so terrible with the time limit. That game is pretty kino with how it handles the "final boss" where the story forks based on what powers you use/what items you have and that bad ending is pretty fascinating.

The difference, to me, is Nintendo typically have high quality control, and they usually work directly with third parties to make sure their farmed-out games are up to snuff.

In contrast, Konami are literally just tossing the IPs around and hoping for success with as little investment as possible.

Look at Castlevania's first anime. Whatever you think of Warren Ellis and that series, it's head and shoulders above Nocturne in terms of writing. It was in the works for years. I don't know who the fuck they got to write Nocturne, but they're going to shit all over Symphony of the Night, I'm sure.

I'm a massive fan of Silent Hill, too. (The first 4 games.) Look at Silent Hill: The Short Message. Konami are so money hungry they're releasing a physical version of that universally despised piece of shit... because they know Silent Hill's dumbass fans will buy it for the branding.

When Konami did some big Silent Hill announcement a while back. they also announced a bunch of embarrassing, bizarre merch like skateboards with Pyramid Head on them. And they announced some weird phone-based, Silent Hill-branded horror "experience" thing that nobody wants. Probably no money went into it.

And, if course, Townfall is coming. Because you know what Silent Hill needed? A black guy as a character. Peak Western developer cancer on display.

I hate Konami even more for what they've done to Silent Hill than to Castlevania. A bunch of Zoomies are playing that sterile, "reimagined" (by people with far less talent) SH2 remake, and now they think they know what Silent Hill is. Shit makes me want to vomit.

Limitations and barriers help art to flourish. Same as it ever was.

I am leaning towards getting the Dominus collection just for the Haunted Castle remake. But it would have to be on deep discount. I've played through all the other games multiple times and have no interest in playing them emulated.

Nowadays? i dunno, the sheer fucking state of Pokemon is appaling, straight up worse than asset swap slop.

NIntendo's high quality is now hit or miss, ToTK's overall technical polish is a good thing to point out, but then bam, Metroid Prime 4, they let a variety of people fuck their products now.

It's really good, I liked it far more than I thought I would. It's easier than I expected(I beat it with one continue on the second to last stage, and about seven continues on Drac alone) but a lot of fun and the spread of enemies and environments make me actually replay it. The main game is relatively easy and forgiving, but the final form of Drac is pretty bullshit. I can see myself 1cc'ing it eventually but it's tough. Visually it's a real treat, it's like a sega game that never was

I'm happy to hear it. M2 also did a great job with The Castlevania Adventure: Rebirth. That needs to get ported!

And before anyone points it out, I don't see handing a project like that to a small Japanese developer as the same thing that Konami is doing now. They're giving new mainline titles to random Westerner devs now. And Westerners shouldn't be anywhere near the IP. (My hate goes out to MercurySteam for their embarrassing CV games.)
Some failed hack writer turned globohomo activist as a showrunner wrangling 3 diversity hires of questionable ethnic backgrounds.

It figures. Ellis got in trouble for *checking notes* being male and using his success to attract women, so they went in the safe, polar opposite direction for the next project.

I saw maybe 3 episodes. They did they most uninteresting thing with the French Revolution backdrop (the vamps are aristocracy 🙄), and when I saw random black characters show up, I knew I wasn't going to watch the rest.

And Richter is a flat, boring character. After 3 episodes, I didn't really understand him as a person. Compare that to Trevor in the first series. You know who he is after his first scene.

Nocturne was such a shit show beyond the maria and her turned mom plot, Creole ex-slave geomancer takes complete center stage, it's entirely about an Egyptian Goddess reborn into an evil Russian and then into her most devoted follower who's a nigger, who then dukes it out with the good half of the goddess possessing the Creole nigger, then despite being completely whooped by the Goddess earlier, Richter suddenly realizes he's supposed to be the main character and easily beats Nigger+bad goddess half
Also they have Juste be involved but mostly irrelevant, he looked cool.

So the new Castlevania is going to have game journalist options. For a game series that was known for being the definition of hard before the Souls games showed up.
And of course the dungeon had to go and post a take so shit it made the whole site unstable for a while (I kept getting 502 errors for days while trying to take a screenshot) :story:

I'd accept it if they made it like in older games where easy mode locks you up of some things and forces you to pick a harder difficulty to see everything, but in current year I guess that's offensive to DSP-tier "gaymurs".

series hasn't been hard for a long time, though, SoTN is one of the most braindead easy games in the genre of vania's, and you can snowball even harder than that with the smallest of effort.
