I'm seriously getting fucking tired of people saying "Indie animation is saving Animation", and Vaislkibum is one of them. As soon as I saw N from Murder Drones in the video, I paused it and thought, "This guy has no standards. I bet he's one of those people who think Murder Drones is a masterpiece just because it's Indie". I swear, "Indie" has become a label to justify mediocrity and avoid criticism. You're allowed to make a pretty mediocre piece of media as long as you're not tied to some evil corporation. This is what these people have been saying for the past two and a half years when they gush over some generic 20-minute pilot on YouTube that will be forgotten in a year because the creators didn't have the budget to continue beyond that pilot.

There's this project called Phantom Fun Arcade (no relation to the character designer of Friday Night Funkin'), and... it's just a Gravity Falls wannabe. In fact, the creator proudly admits to being inspired by Gravity Falls.

I don't mean to be rude, but after seeing the creator's Instagram, I don't think I like this project. Just look at this image. It tells you everything you need to know about this series.

That girl on the right looks like Mabel Pines, but shorter. Seriously, I officially declare Gravity Falls a bad influence.

Ok, so it turns out the creator of Amphibia is making an Indie show. It's called Clara and the Below. From what he's shown, it looks interesting. I was never into Amphibia, but I think it was alright based on the few episodes I saw. I don't know how this one will do. I'm going to wait and see. I have more faith in this series than in the Gravity Falls wannabe.

Look, I don't hate the Indie Renaissance, because every now and then I've seen pilots with potential, like The Art of Murder (no relation to the edgy robot show) or a pilot about dinosaurs whose name I've forgotten. Actually, the Indie Renaissance is very hit-or-miss. It's starting to resemble the Indie videogame scene, where for every FNAF or Undertale, there are 100 games that fail and fade into obscurity. Similarly, for every Digital Circus, there are 100 pilots that fail and fade into obscurity.

And then there's the problem that when a pilot finally becomes a full-fledged show, it falls apart due to the creator's lack of experience in writing and storytelling. Take Murder Drones, for example. Good animation, nice looking characters, a truly captivating setting and atmosphere, it had everything to be a great series, too bad the poor writing ruined it all. J.J. Abrams' Mystery Boxes, MCU-style humor, underdeveloped characters, FNAF-esque lore desperately trying to be theory bait, and tons of plot holes. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, these are the series that are definitely saving animation.

This is a Hungarian political satire series animated by one guy. It looks like ass, but its episodes are produced relatively fast; it already has a second season. It's also surprisingly bipartisan, mocking both the right-wing Hungarian government and Gyula, one of the main characters who's also an unemployed libshit redditor. This is currently one of the most popular animated series in the country, only beaten by foreign cartoons on streaming services.

Only the long episodes from season one have English subs, and even then you need a deep knowledge of Hungarian daily life to understand them, so it's far from accessible, and I cannot recommend it to an international audience.

I saw Hungarian and have to share one of my favorite cartoon channels on YouTube (and this one's dubbed in English, yay)
ninja edit: It's probably not indie, and definitely not modern, but it's animated retellings of Hungarian folktales for kids. It's really cool, and a good handful of these stories are familiar even if you aren't specifically Hungarian. I don't actually know the history of these, if it was for some kind of Hungarian TV channel or what, but it's charming and reminds me of watching old VHS tapes of fairy tales as a kid.

I wish western faggots didn't suck Japan's atomic pecker for hogging the entire market for good animation, because when you venture out and look for shows made from euro-centric countries, guarantee you're going to find something genuinely interesting or actually funny and not this "quirkchungus" shit that every Amerimutt shits out as "indie".

Really speaks volumes that Hungarian animation beats out most cartoons that you see on Comedy Central, like Brickleberry for example.

Do you goys think that newgroundsfags can contribute better for the western cartoon industry better than tumblr/xitter faggots or will they flunk just a bad or worse? Although they have similar degeneracies NG still tend to have better humor and art/animation in general. For an example: Physicpebbles (Zach Hadel) was a NG oldfag and he made Smiling friends (farewell), it’s a decent modern westoon for zoomers, absurd humour fans, NGfags, and apoliticals alike

Yes, the Jewish mafia (no seriously) wanted to inject themselves into Disney as they saw it as a good money maker and/or frontg for there buisness. Many Jewish animators warned Disney about this and he eventually agree to cut of all unions from his company. The mafia then did what they could to ruin his reputation. Newgroids partially consists of xitter\tumblr immigrants already. It won't and I forsee it wouldn't even try - it was always a place for non-mainstream stuff.

As a counter-example: Egoraptor also came from Newgrounds.

mild PL. I was in with the NG community for a few years. Dipped bc I don't have time for art rn. Many of the users I met want to work in the industry and some have already done work on indie shows. They are usually a decent bunch but the NG mods and admins have orbiters with gay social media hierarchy, popularity contest shenanigans. Complete with bullying innocent people off the platform while protecting sickos. They aren't told to fuck off bc they donate big money to the site.

I think great projects can and will come from the site. Many already have.

If you're into cartoons, NG is a great place to make friends and get better at art/animation/coding/etc. You just have to navigate the community a bit before finding people who will help you grow.
 
Newgrounds is a shell of it's former self, the people that made the site popular back in the day are doing other things outside of it and since the Tumblr and Twitter exodus it has been filled with annoying retards that make subpar art and content

I wasn't directly on NG in those times, but from what I could gather - it did begin at that time; It was a general trend in those kinds of communities, unless they're gatekept, something like this happened.

I think the main thing to look for is the output - I once compared a few animations from 2019-2020 with the older stuff I saw, and could consistently see common twitter animation styles\tropes in the newer creations.
