By complete chance I got recommended this video to me.
Was surprised to see just how informative and insightful this hour-long video was into the entirety of the animation process in this industry.
TL;DW it's not animators that are "lazy and want to make bad product" (they work on multiple tasks compared to industry animators from the century before). It's companies trying to squeeze as much profits as they could in the shortest time as possible, which is why artstyles like "beanmouth calarts" has plauged the industry as being cheap and efficient pumped out to children/manchildren at the fastest rate. (This can also extend to why most CGI TV cartoons look like plastic dogwater compared to more refined CGI films.)
Honestly I believe this. There's a farmer from Dobson's thread I read that said their brother works as an animator for advertisements, and a lot of what he says tracks in this video (having to learn a whole bunch of artstyles and animating in ways that would make the client commisioning him happy).
You can read more about it here:
Yes and no. Art school really does help some artists because they need to learn the fundamentals. It's like music: can you be a successful musician without knowing music theory? Yes. Can you know music theory really well and be an unsuccessful musician? Also yes. Does knowing music theory make it a lot easier to be a successful musician? Yes.
Going to school also exposes you to industry veterans who can help you - not just as referrals or networking, but as legitimate mentors. John R. Dilworth (creator of Courage the Cowardly Dog) credits Howard Beckerman for helping his...
And just as a personal aside, there was a /co/ thread I saw once about that Boxtown indie show, and I saw a reply that said something like "literally the same beanmouth shit, why do they all draw like this?" And a supposed industryfag anon chimed in and said "the investors actively want these shows to look like this as it's fast and efficient. I don't like it, but it pays the bills..." or something along those lines.
The guy in the video even admits that the animation union posted here is pretty shit and unserious and that they should Do Better

, lmao.
Now he doesn't bring up any woke/leftist/neurotic fucking faggots plauging the industry with their gay shit we complain about ITT, but I take it this is purely about the animation process and why it's gone to shit and not necessarily things like story or characters as that's issues with the writers, not the animators.
Still though, it's a bit concerning that even outside of the industry, you still see these leftoid faggot artists/animators plauging the online space and you hardly see rightwing creative animators flourish besides someone like Sven Stoffals. I know I said libshit animators are mostly a western problem, but I think it really is just big social platforms banning wrongthink/edgy content because it's not AdFriendly, and as a result this discourages more experimental/edgy animations from taking hold so people are just forced to become an NPC/Niggercattle/safe horny artist. Otherwise why put in all this work if you won't be compensated for it, or worse become a social outcast and bite a ban for the content you poured your heart into making? I really hope something changes in the future that can make it viable to monetize your content without banks/platforms majorly fucking you over. I'll always appreciate Josh fighting the good fight on demanding the right to be monetized and left unfucked by banks no matter what, even if he does spergout sometimes (still funny tho).
