There's plenty of things to not like Elon for but I think doing the minimal-maxing shit on car interiors was the absolute worst thing he's brought to the industry. Just so everyone else can go ahead and cut more corners while somehow saving money with cheap IKEA looking junk.
I bet that's not going away. It's everything modern automaker leadership loves
  • cheap
  • trendy (will quickly look dated and need replacing in the eyes of the trend followers)

If you could own an electric-swapped version of any vehicle, what would it be?

To me, something that is small and that is traditionally hard to get parts for would make a lot of sense. An electric Subaru Brat would be a fun around-town vehicle.

Mazda revealed the new CX-5 this week, and decided to go literally full-on Chinese car interior by ditching their rotary knob for a GIANT ASS SCREEN with minimal physical controls:
Funny, I had a Mazda guy talking to me a few days ago about how Mazda is the best with interiors and about how they aren't giving up their buttons and dials and that I should consider one for my next car. Probably should go find what bridge he is on.

The OG brat maybe but the later got the turbo brat and it was kick ass and slept on.

While I don't like elec only, I think I'd love an OG elec swapped to new stuff. I mean 1900s era. Can you picture it?People swap model Ts with LS turbos..why not baker elec with an Elon swap?

Aside all that, the civic has been on my lift for like 4 days its hot I'm not working on it or anything.

Haggard Garage uploaded for the first time in years and encountered their first tranny. (Timestamp integrated)

Well, I’m finally getting my heater core fixed after like 4 years. It’s a dash out job and I’m looking at $1500, but I’m going on holiday on Wednesday down south where it will be colder, so it has to be done. Ditto the fact that I often work nights, and the car is pretty miserable to drive with no heat.

It’s a bit of a PL, but I adore little vintage cars. And I just bought my first one. I’m paying it off over 6 months then it’s coming home. It’s a 1937 Austin 10. It needs a clutch and it’s not charging, but neither of these are the end of the world.

I’m unreasonably excited. Pic isn’t of the actual car.

Small block Chevy.
Good luck making one fit! Besides, if I wanted to go fast, I’d just have one of the thousands of modern cars to choose from. I like old cars because they’re the closest thing to a time machine you’ll probably ever get. Besides, this engine has just been rebuilt and runs pretty nice.

Nice.. after repairing the amplifier of my Saab, it decided to blow up again. Now the door speakers no longer do the wub wubs :(

What Saab?
9-3 OG convertible with the AS3 amplifier. I'm still in the early stage of figuring out what I really want (i.e. replace the amp with another used example or replace it with 2 channel aftermarket model, or going for baller and install a 6 channel amp to power all speakers).
This isn't a priority project anyway, but it's something that I'll need to tackle in the near future (+2 years). Right now I'm setting money aside for getting a fully refurbished top.
Luckily I've completed a full mechanical restauration and she drives and handles like new!

I bought a 2001 ford taurus as a beater car until my truck(2014 gmc sierra) is fixed by insurance. it got t-boned at the beginning of july and did 8 grand worth of damage and fucked the rear differential as the other guy hit the box and rear axle. its basically undriveable, thus bought a little beater taurus.

my original plan was to drive it for a few months or however long it takes my insurance, then dump it. but the more i drive it and look at it, the more i realize its actually a little decent little car. interior is mint in it. not a single tear in the seat, dashboard doesn't even have so much as a blemish in it, all the panels are in similar condition, everything works in it. so far i only put a new belt, spark plugs, and a new windshield in it. after plugs(it had a misfire when i first got it. new plugs ficed it), it runs super smooth, and the plug were surprisingly much easier to do in it than in my truck. mind you, if a water pump or something blows, it looks like it may be a pain in the dick to get to, but everything else is just right there. pretty much a mostly super easy car to work on. the only mechanical thing it needs are sway bar links, and those are super cheap and easy to do. the steering is even still nice and tight with little-to-no play. it onlt has 140 000 kms on it. apparently of of the owner was a little old lady, then it sat for 5 years, then the lady i bought it from was a young lady, so i have some deferrred maitenence i gotta catch up on it that i'm slowly doing. the previous owner claims plugs were done a year prior, but i think they either lied about that or the "mechanic" that did it scammed them hard, because those plufs were no way in hell a year old. they lok closer to 10-15 years old. possible even the original plugs(they were motorcraft plugs), and certainly the gap was way off. i measured each one with my gap tool out of curiosity, smallest gap was .063 inch with the biggest being .072 or something like that. the gap is supposed to be .045 inches roughly. the belt had metal showing in it, and also an old-as-shit motorcraft one. that one i am sure is the original 25 year old one just by how worn it was.

So i joined a subreddit on reddit called r/fordtaurus. i posted a total of two threads. one asking about a Service bulletin fix for the transmission vent, and a second about the melted headlight socket because the previous owner shoved a cheap chinese lightbulb in there and fucked the low beam pin. No fights, not so much of an argument with anybody anywhere on the subreddit, everything i posted was well within the rules, but the mod that i never (knowingly) had any contact with banned then muted simultaneously so i couldn't even ask what rule i allegedly broke. aside from the moderator being a gigantic fag, i've noticed a lot of the people posting were either older people themselves or some younger person who got it from an old person. it seems like these taurus are a grandma or grandpa car or some teenager's first car or a hand-me-down.

Reddit is retarded anyway. I would advice you to use the forums or Facebook for general advice and questions regarding old cars. Hell, if you're lucky someone has already found the answers to your questions when you use the search function on those forums.

no great loss. the subreddit is pretty dead anyways and the faggot probably just looked through my posting history and got butthurt about something i said elsewhere. thats been happening a lot as of late with a lot of people, but usually those rainbow-haired malignant cocksuckers practicaly brag about it. i deleted everything i posted there and editted one comment to a "fuck you" note for the mod, then blocked the mod account.

The only other explanation is the mod is a retard and doesn't know what a halogen bulb is(i.e the stock kind). I posted a thread showing the melted headlight socket and explained the previous owner put a cheap chinese bilb in there(which was also melting) and damaged the low beam pin, somebody asked what kind of bulb the previous owner put in there, and i told them it was a halogen bulb. was banned 5 minutes later.
