The Volvo 240 is the best car ever made, there is literally no reasonable reasons to buy anything else.

Strong, reliable, a pure driving experience with no assist bullshit, prime svedish looks, rwd
I got an 81 264 with the Redblock and I love that car. Though the K-Jet acts weirdly at idle, but the car still has good power.

Tracee Ellis Ross test driving a Mercedes-Benz EQS.

Classic BaT special for a car/platform that has a cult following. That said the presentation screams perfection and everything looks so pristine. Pretty remarkable a former rust belt Toyota was maintained to that level of perfection.
Dry ice blasting (as mentioned excessively in the listing) will do that to a car. Shit's like magic

I grew up in the back facing third row seat in the wagon of a diesel 240 all black. Being a kid who loved ghost busters I called it ecto.

My mom called it an Aston Martin because much like james bond it vomited out black smoke to block out pursuit.....or it was a dog slow diesel pre emissions days. I do remember watching the puff come every stop light/sign.

Maxbore officially is done. F.
I've had him do every single car I owned. He did top notch port polish and hog out throttle bodies. Was his side gig but better than pros cheaper than whole new unit and real fast turn around. Definitely bummed out.

Throttle body work doesn't add a ton of HP it's cheap doesn't add noise makes pedal a little more crisp and let's car truly get to WOT. A good cheap mod mostly for feel.

Looking for my first car. There is a 2003 Toyota Corolla CE with less than 50,000 miles for sale. It seems like a 'too good to be true' thing. Sent a message to the dealer, gonna try to work out a test drive and a pre-buy inspection at a local mechanic for it. All the pictures look like it was very well cared for, and the price is perfect.

There must be something seriously wrong with the thing, or the dealer is rolling the odometer

Could be a grandma to church Sunday car. It's got value like a lot especially in this market so if it's cheap worry. Definitely right to pay an inspection by a pro and hit a car fax too.

Thing is dull but like twinkies will survive nuclear war. Best of luck with it.

So last week I'm on my way back home, casual highway speed, all systems nominal. All of a sudden engine warning light, coolant temp goes from normal to boiling hot, car goes into limp mode and yells at me to stop asap.

I crawl back home on some back roads and on the next morning, wanting to get the car to the workshop, on startup it fumes like a 19th century steam engine. That was the moment my heart sank.

Today I got the call, total engine failure, cylinder block internals damaged, nothing salvageable. Price for a new engine and labor is 13500€. I really have an emotional connection to the car, so I am really torn between the repair job or getting a new car all together. I am not sure if it's worth paying roughly 50% in repairs of its used market value. Similar models with same trim level and milage go around 30000€. The repair shop is going to make me an offer on Wednesday what they value the car at. If it is a decent offer I might sell it. If it's some low-ball offer I don't know what to do though.

Please help me out fellow kiwi car enthusiasts.

If in a snowy state, check for rust. Rocker panels and wheel wells are common culprits.

Getting a car seat in and out of my 2013 golf is getting old fast. It only has 77k miles on it so its got some life in it despite me trashing it the last few years, but I think I want something bigger, its a real pain loading it up.

Looks like I am in the market for a crossover or God forbid, minivan.

@Eadred what kinda car and any other options to drop in at the time if so what cost change? Definitely wait to hear what insurance says.

@CHARizard isn't 13 LATCH the system everything has now? If so would changing help?

Minivans are far less gay than cross overs. Like monumentally.

Friends at Texas 2k and sending me updates fucking insane how many 7 or faster cars show up you can't qualify if you're slower than 190 trap in the 1/4 FUCK.

Only one stick shift and it got snuck in because car in front of it snapped drive shafts. Just getting his play by play I look at my high 9 second car and feel poor AND slow

The insurance doesn't cover anything, it's wear and tear sadly. I put 100k enjoyable miles on the clock.
It's a 2018 Focus RS. The dealership is offering me 7k for the car, the highest external offer I got is 13k.
If I'd go with the external offer I'd shop for a new (used) car.

On the shortlist are:
Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (The stupid choice due to being a Stellantis product, but that thing is fantastic to drive and looks pretty)
Audi RS5 (The safe choice, and it'll still look good in 10 years, solidly built, lacks driving feedback but I enjoy the comfort)
BMW M3/4 (No fan of BMW, the stereotypes are all true, but the handling and that engine are fantastic)
Mercedes C63 (It's all about that engine, the rest of the car is pretty boring though)

All would be in the 50k range, running costs are all pretty similar.
Alternatively I'd get a beater for a grand or so, save up some more for one or two years and see what the market has to offer then. But I enjoy driving too much, so that would be one or two years of torture.

We have a DOONA so putting the seat in isnt difficult, the problem is I feel like I am just a few inches too tall for the Golf to be bending over and futsing with the baby, and the reality has sank in that we will probably have another and I will need something with more cargo space. My wife has a 2022 Impreza wagon and it has the same problem for me, so it makes sense to get something with more space as the second car.

Not really looking to buy this year, my job is WFM and the Golf only gets driven a few times a week. I was thinking of going with another used rental from Enterprise but they only have Chrysler minivans and I wont buy that. Gonna keep my eyes on the Toyota Sienna.

Any love for big-block Euro V8s here?
Picked up a (new to me) W204 C63 last week. As a wagon, of course.

You might be thinking "What does this tard mean by 'big block euro V8?' Those are usually only 4-Liters!" Yeah, you're right.

But this thing is right out of the era when all the german car manufacturers went bonkers, slapped in 5 Liter V10s or even Biturbo V10s into family cars like BMWs E60 M5, Audis RS6 C6, or high-revving 4L V8s into even smaller cars like the RS4 B7 and BMW E90 series. You can tell I'm fanboying over my new acquisition. 7250RPM of 6.2L N/A V8 goodness over here. Goes like a motherfucker with it's 457HP and 600NM. Too bad the winter tires are only 235s in the rear, so you can imagine that it doesn't stick at all.
What do my fellow Kiwis think about "Euro Muscle"?

Whatever they did with the intake and exhaust setup on the M156 cars they will never replicate again. Bone stock they sound better than any other German V8 car ever made. I liked them so much I bought a W211 E63 AMG not too long ago. Unfortunately the C63 wagons are not available in the USA. That era really was the end of cool NA German cars, we had the M156, M120, N73, S65, S62, S85, 4.2FSI. Unfortunately all of them are basically junk aside from the M120. The M156 is the most bulletproof V8 of that group of bearing eaters and retard engines (audi 4.2) and even it has issues which I'm not looking forward to dealing with.

Dry ice blasting is incredibly expensive, it's almost impossible to recoup the cost of that even selling to collector tards on BaT.

Lighter flywheel is the killer app for "crisp"

Sounds like you blew a radiator hose or something. In the future, if the car overheats, don't crawl, shut the damn thing off and get a tow. I'd get a second opinion. It's rare that anything but the most catastrophic overheats harms the bottom end, usually you crack or warp heads, blow head gaskets, etc, but overheating it enough to destroy the bottom end is something else. But you did drive it around so...

imagine driving a non-diesel Mercedes

>he will never know the magic of an NA AMG V8 or V12
