I have shitty lugnuts, turns out. Any recommendations on brand/type so I dont have to deal with the 2 piece cap/stripped nut bullshit?
Ford?

Anyway, McGard, Gorilla especially if you like the spline type, ARP for open top but nobody does that anymore.

(Other than having to have the 'key' around I like the spline type. Had a tire shop go fucknuts on one, one time and when I got it off it was twisted about ten degrees of rotation on the middle of the nut. Still came off, no rounding.)

Thanks, Dodge actually. Had wheels removed several times recently for various work and learned the lugs are 2 pieces and now several caps are missing/broke and nuts have been rounded. Dont think I can change a tire on my own if caught with a flat somewhere away from home now, so I want to replace them all. Part to blame is over torquing via tire shop/mechanic imo but why in the world are aluminum/soft metal caps the thing youre expected to torque on. Thanks for the info

I just swapped mine with whatever was cheap and chrome plated when that happened.

I was going to add this actually. Anything that's actual metal (proper chrome plated) and doesn't have 'literally made out of fucking butter' reviews on Amazon will work. The ones I listed are pretty much overkill mode.

The only lug nuts to use are some boutique JDM racing house with a bizarre name.

I highly suggest, pine tree soup speed shop. Folded 1000 like a samurai katana.

Gorilla are good to go.

It's far better now and even Mazda is doing cylinder deactivation these days.

That said..... KIWI bros HELP ME PICK A 2024 CAMRY.

I'm stuck between a XSE/XLE hybrid and a XSE V6. I can probably get the V6 cheaper than the Hybrid and it's fully loaded buuuttt the hybrid is 20-25 mpg better easy. Fully loaded hybrids are sadly rare and 99% of dealerships won't negotiate on them.

Need a new car by end of the month as my 2018 Accord has the shit 1.5 liter engine that's a grenade.
My vote goes for the XSE with the V6. Can't go wrong with a 2GR V6. It's the last of its kind and would make the Camry a nice FF tourer. You'll kick yourself for not getting the one with more power.

Hehe whoops. Got the 4 banger as the price delta on it vs the Hybrid and V6 was $4000 and $5000 respectively. At a 5.7% APR that's not worth it IMHO (especially for the hybrid which was identical feature wise apart from the little sunroof)

Toyota dealerships know that have good product and will not budge on top trim models at this time. Of they had a 4 cylinder loaded up I might have gone with it.

Anyway got in and out of the dealership in just under 2 hours, car is a silver XSE with the A25 Inline 4 cylinder and 8 speed auto.

Drives well, had 6 miles on the clock when I took possession and it's pleasant to drive. Changing the oil every 5k (plus a break in change at 1k) and following the book religiously.

Car thread bros, you did remember to rust proof before winter ...right??

I got an airless paint sprayer and a gallon of fluid film. Hopefully no more rust this salt season!
Over here in Utah it's kinda pointless tbh. The salt on the roads is unescapable. The best you can do is take it to the automatic car wash and hope the wax it sprays on seals it out enough until you can wash it again.

The strategy this year is to use the 4runner when they salt the roads and keep the nice cars inside the garage. I've had pretty good luck so far with rust but maybe that's just because I hand wax twice a year or so and wash regularly...

Man, after doing my bookkeeping of my finances realized how expensive it is to drive a car in the Netherlands....

I mean sure, an old car like a SAAB is expensive to keep in a good working order. Doing your own maintenance to keep the cost down does help a lot (my hours are free, but a specialist aren't). Between that and insurance, road tax and especially gasoline prices is.. well it's insane how little cash remains after each month.

I'm literally getting low teens MPG in my Aston...this car is going to ruin me in fuel alone :( Even my GTR wasn't *this* thirsty

So after more looking, I think I may commit heresy and buy my first automatic transmission vehicle ever next time around. As much as I want a manual Taco, the cost for one is not much lower than a '23/24 Colorado ZR2 which includes extra meaningful off road shit like a bigger lift and 33" tires, front and rear lockers and rock sliders from jump. They're both running largish turbo 4s but the Chevy has a shitload more torque to boot.

It's a truck, why would you want a manual anyway? Unless you're going to slam it and attempt to make it handle; or at least look cool, just get the slushmatic it deserves. If you actually go offroading with it, autos are better anyway.

Tacomas are overrated anyway. People rave about them because muh Toyota sooper reliable durr. American trucks aren't that unreliable bar a few bad apples here and there.

Habits, mostly. I've only owned manual transmissions, and just prefer them. I'm not completely opposed to an automatic, but I'll miss the third pedal.

I get it. I miss my manual. I' have a DSG for a daily and while it's stupid fast, it's not consistent imo. I wish I had bought it in a manual, but there are a few reasons I didn't.
I just don't think I'd care about manual in something so...uninspired on the road. To me, if you're getting a truck, you've already given up the fun road car. So just go for it.
But that's me and my, admittedly, biased view.
