I knew you were a troll but I wanted to get my pun in. My next car will be a Scion XB because I love those boxy fuckers and I want to build an Itasha. I've done the American car scene to death so I'm thinking of going super autistic metric now.
I really want to get weird with an air-cooled Subaru 360 sambar van. I've only ever seen one in my area.

I've already done a few vw flat 4 builds and I love air cooleds. They are so got damn simple and the parts are real easy to get a hold of.

I've done some Honda builds and there's not much to hate. Except the intake runners on the b20b. I cleaned out the socket wrench extension aisle to bolt that on when it was in the car.

I'm onto turbo Mazda stuff now. Not planning on doing a build really. The B20T engine I'm working with is pretty cool. Non-interference valves and hydraulic lifters that tick when the oil pressure is low
I don't really want to dox myself but I own a mini cooper gp3 and it is my child I love it with every fiber of my being I just hit 10k miles with it. I have had it out on the track once does anyone else have interest in mini as a car manufacturer or am I the only weirdo.
I'd like a mini Cooper if I was a shorter person. I drove a friend's when I was the designated driver and I didn't know it was supercharged until I looked up the specs. That thing had such okay power. Almost bought that car from her when the engine wiring harness melted, but I'm kind of glad I didn't.

My hatred of German cars built after the wall came down is immeasurable. My dad had an 08 750i that literally made me want to start a club to reenact the aerial bombardment of Dresden everytime he asked me for help with it. Nothing is where it makes sense to be, everything on the electrical side is both over-engineered and outright moronic in design, capability and overall function. The dollar to comfort ratio is shameful compared to a Lexus, Infiniti or even (God help me) a Lincoln. The dollar to performance ratio is pitiful when compared to even the most Birkenstock'd Subaru or Stunta'd Civic/Z car/Mustang and everytime I drive or lift the hood on a BMW, Audi or Merc all I can think is "The Japs make this better and my fellow Americans make it smarter".

And all of this isn't even touching on what those kraut fucks did to absolutely neuter and utterly ruin Lambo

The Japanese have nothing that compares in the luxury performance segment. The Germans currently rule. Of course, great performance and comfort comes at a price so gotta pay to play to have that super saloon. Lexus seems to have made a half baked attempt with the IS500, but that's no M competitor. The LC500, RCF, and GSF all hit a mark below the M cars. The new Z is the current wildcard against the basically German Supra A90. BMW made some mistakes in the mid 2000s with the N62 and N63, but now that all their engines are based off the modular inline 4 and 6 block, they've become pretty reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a B48 or B58 equipped BMW only in a stick. News is the Supra is coming soon with a manual.

my wheels are a 2005 1.4 litre petrol Rover 25; despite its age, it was in immaculate condition and it only had 56,000 miles on the clock when I bought it
what I like best about it is that it's smart without being wanky, it has a lot of power (100 bhp) for a relatively small, unassuming-looking car, and it's never yet let me down
sure it's a bit of an oldgeezermobile, but it's just as well suited to serious long-distance motorway driving as it is to low-speed runs around town - it's a real pleasure to drive

@TiggerNits Bangle Era cars oof lad. Yeah they stink. Frankly a lot of German cars are still great and nice, but those BMWs suck.

So god knows what (aka rust or because god hates me) I hate a date night last night and on way home my triumph rad just died. Like vomited coolant all over. Because it's old as fuck I didn't know until the temp meter spiked I pulled over and went to peek 0 coolant, popped cap and dry. Looked under a nice hole.

I looked swagger AF waiting on a tow, ordered a china made 3 row rad for under 250 had good reviews and old english car people are tismo AF so I took their views and it being cheap as good signs.

I had an older Lotus Elan for a few years when I was in flight training in Florida, Mississippi and Texas. It was just before ebay was a good place for parts so whenever shit arbitrarily decided to die, I was sitting with 8 phone books calling junkyards and euro parts suppliers until someone could describe the correct part in satisfying detail, and I'd either send them a money order and hope for the best, or rent the shittiest Cessna or Piper the FBO had and go pick it up myself.

I do not miss those days

While it was sorta a thing, my love of old english cars came from the community.

Let me tell a tale, so I JUST got the triumph I have (tr3a) to run like it was totally not tagged insured inspected at all, I legit had swiped a plate off my other car just to get it around a bit.

I stopped at a 7-11 (Ambler Pa if you so care) just for a drink and I was a younging as I came out I met an older man who was also into these thing and we chatted a bit (this doesn't turn into a gay thing sorry) He thought it was great a "kid" rebuilt and liked these cars.

So we swapped info and all, few weeks later I needed a few parts and called him he had me over let me drive his Austin and just TAKE parts. I was pretty damn poor at the time (why I had a old car is another story I'll spare you) and he had lots of stuff for any old english thing, so I took what I could and refused payment, help or labor. Just wanted to see these things kept alive.

Also I care not the era or condition, but any Elan, I'm very Jealous, if it makes you feel better, when I was a candidate, I had to use my triumph to get to campus in a winter, every morning in freezing ass Philly started with me bundled up and dry gas.

Yeah, I got my Elan from a retired Navy Chief that owned a floral shop with his wife. My first wife had done some work for them (she had just passed the bar and was doing incorporations and such at the time) and he had a few old euro cars under tarps in the loading area. He sold it to me for $500. It didn't have a passenger seat and the tires, hoses and belts were rotted out, but the paint was in good shape. So my first two weekends with it were spent replacing everything and retrofitting a pair of seats out of a VW Beetle to fit. Once I had it running we went on a 3 day weekend to Keyes and she turned every single head that we passed (or that passed us, that fucking thing struggled to hit 60). The 2 years I had it I absolutely loved it, but when I got orders for Cherry I sold her to a Major in my chain of command that was retiring for 3k and a bunch of his old uniforms and gear

Hello fellow car frens, I bought a car today. It's a '99 Fiat Panda - your everyday euro boxy car from the 80's.

It has a straight 4 FWD 900cc engine of pure fun, electronic injection, manual transmission and sports 13 inches wheels.
Surprisingly it's a quite sturdy vehicle for being a Fiat. Plus parts for it are cheap as hell and even a child can fix it.

Max speed is 84 mph; even while you're normally crusing it feels like you're speed racing.

I bought mine for 600€ (~630$) with 68k miles clocked in. Engine runs fine while the body needs new clear coating, which is not a big deal for me.

Not my photo, but the color is the same.

Again not my pic, here's the interior of car. I love it's minimal retro-style. So minimal that it doesn't even feature the rev counter!

I'll never get over the sub 1L segment of cars. Even 1.6L sounds itty bitty to me. Cool interior though

Not a troll just trying to see what other people are into. Good luck with your next car build man.
Wow. Ok. If you ever find yourself in the southeast of the US hit me up and I will show you what a car with too much power is really like.

I don’t know how to word this to look it up on google so maybe I can get some guidance here:

What do I have to do to start up a car that’s been sitting with some gas in the tank for the last ~2-2.5 years? It’s an ‘08 VW golf. I know I’ll have to charge or get a new battery, and the brake rotors are covered with a layer of rust, but I want to get it running so I can either sell it or use it.

See if it starts. If you're lucky, immediately fill it with fresh gas. The rust will come off the brakes when you drive it. It'll sound bad at first, but that's just the rust grinding off the rotors. Starter fluid is your friend.

If you're unlucky you'll have to drop the tank and clean it as well as the fuel lines. If you're really unlucky, the fuel system may have holes. If you're still unsure about the condition of the brakes, buy a pad kit and have the rotors turned at your local parts place. Shouldn't be more than $100 for a car like that all in.

For extra credit check the date code on the battery. If it's over 5 years old get a new one. Clean the oxidation off of the terminals and cable ends.

Washing+waxing+vacuuming a car adds at least 5% more to the value

Sorry for double post: be sure to check all of your fluid levels! Starting a car without oil is a surefire way to have a bad time. Of course, check the condition of the coolant and brake fluid.

Aside I legit daily a 600HP+ car, go on about too much power....

Speaking of, I'm SO FUCKING HYPE my buddy got ITBs for his LS2 swap mx5. Oh, n20 ports. He's going to die in that thing, I mean like turn it on and spray paint his face chrome kinda death.

I think as the weather gets better I'm really into cars more. Speaking of, my triumph rad blew up so I got a 3 row Chink rad. I looked so fucking cool waiting for the tow truck, but I did take a British car out in a month with the letter "R" so it was my own fault.

My sis is looking at a new F type if she will pull the trigger or not I wonder.

My sister junked a pristine 1999 Camry with leather interior that's been in the family since day 1so she could go into debt over a tacky Subaru. She did not ask if anyone wanted it before she got rid of it.

No I'm not bitter

You know the recall on the 90s Camrys?

Please take the car in, the techs are all jobless! Funny enough a friend of mine, who's a good deal older, had a 95? He wanted a hybrid passed to his daughter, she had a few years thing was in PERFECT shape and she traded in for something. I was mad I'd have got it in a second things are like twinkees and cockroaches they can not die.

No do tell about the recall. I remember on one of my first big business trips when my car was halfway through an engine swap I drove that Camry through the hills in the finger lakes region of New York. So many cars in the ditches from the snow but that Camry just kept trucking. I lost my credit card on that trip and I was still able to get to a friend's house in a different state on that tank.

Slow, but comfortable and economical. And the green paint was my favorite

No that's the joke, please take the car in, mechanics go hungry! It doesn't need it but Vinnie hasn't worked in a week. Sorry if it didn't come thru.

Yeah they are tanks, my friend whom had one aside basic upkeep the ONLY thing I ever did to it was 3m headlight restore.
