right now im living out of a small flat that often reeks of weed thanks to my brother who smokes pretty much every night. I'm looking for good scented candles that would atleast mask the smell for a while. Been doing this for like a year now but recently ive been wanting to buy them in bulk online, which opens up 1000 times more options for me. What scented candles are the best while being relatively affordable? Dont really care what the smell is, aslong as it smells pleasant enough.

The best for cheap candles is Yankee candle or IKEA brand. However, if you’re going for a longer lasting scent and don’t mind paying a bit more, I’d recommend Bath and Bodywork’s.

Ona makes a bunch of products, which are often utilized by cannabis manufacturers and port-a-potty vendors alike.

They're not candles, but more of a jar of concentrated perfume, that you open to mask the funk.

I used to use these when I was a cannabis farmer. . .

I would say a gallon container of gel or liquid could have the lid off for over a year before you'd notice it was all evaporated.

If you left the lid off a liter sized container, it might last you 6 months, as a rough estimate. It doesn't really remove the weedsmell, so much as it overpowers it with another sickly sweet scent. This product might be useful if you were afraid of your candles being a fire hazard and that someone would need attend them. The problem with Ona comes when you spill it. A friend spilled Ona in his driveway and it smelled nice for a long time.

Have you tried burning incense? It's not everyone's thing and the smell will just make people think you smoke yourself, but it's a lot stronger than candles, and very pleasant if you find some varieties you like. Try sandalwood, sage, or something fruity or floral to start

piggybacking off this, if you wind up caring less about pleasant scents and just want to be an asshole to him: patchouli. patchouli fucking sucks and ive only met a small handful of people who actually like the smell

Some people have a nose like a freaking hound. You won’t be able to get anything past them. The great neutralizer for odors is the great outdoors. Crack open a window, let nature in, and I think microbes will eat or take away the smell somehow.

it would have to be a powerful scent, because i dont think his nose even works anymore
i could put dog shit under his pillow and he wouldnt notice until he lifts it up. His room fucking reeked back at our old house

yeah i do that when the weather is nice, main problem is its winter over here and i dont want to let any heat out

I hate scented candles. They fucking reek. I don't know why anyone enjoys the smell of fake fragrance and burning wax. I don't let my wife light them anymore.

did he smoke enough weed to completely kill his nose, or is he just filthy in general? every chronic smoker i've ever met has been noseblind as hell before quitting, hence asking.

but yeah, this all in mind IMO patchouli could work. i haven't used incense in years, but i always remember patchouli having a smell that was aggressive enough to rival weed. even the cheaper shittier sticks i'd burn had a strong, lingering smell for a while after it stopped burning.

i'm sure there's other options that may be more 'pleasant', but i'm blanking. if i think of more, i'll shill for 'em too.

Incense > scented candles

Incense is much stronger, which would be better for you since you want to cover up the smell of weed (which I really don't blame you for wanting to do). If you do plan to use scented candles regularly, avoid paraffin wax candles, and splurge a little more on beeswax or soy candles.

hes always been pretty filthy
just last week i joined him in smoking and pushed away a pile of unfolded laundry, pulled out the grimiest bong, rips it indoors, and when i said u gotta clean it before i use it he doused it in water for 5 seconds and called it a day. Hes not a NEET and is out of the house alot so i dont have much ground to call him useless but i really gotta talk to him about how to not be a slob

Ive been looking at incense sticks, will probably give them a try
Do u have any recommendations?

You really should get a little HEPA room filter. They're not that expensive; I put mine on high and be sure to position it in front of my ashtray to pull the smoke.

There are candles specifically for smokers, just search smokers candles on Amazon. I buy Goose Creek candles and wax melts, the cool rain drops scent is amazing and not cloying at all. I am a daily weed and tobacco smoker.

I use a wax melter (hot light that sits over the candle) instead of burning it, but either way will work (I just don't like the sooty smell upon extinguishing candles).

I imagine if you wanted to make your own incense or scented candles(since this is the self-sufficiency board and all) you could make your own essential oils. The process to go about it, at least historically, was through steam distillation. Lots of essential oils have potential medicinal or pesticidal properties too, so be careful because you can actually get hurt if you use them wrong. Chubbyemu did a video covering an essential oil poisoning case too.
