Canadians will always live in the shadow of the united states and will never ever be a real nation.
There is no unifying cultural identity other than the laurentian elites "were more progressive than americans"
It's a cultural identity built around spite and won't work in the long run.

the real reason is they stack a little better, use less material, and were introduced while Tetra-Pak™ cartons were still kinda junky. These days, you see a lot more plastic jugs than bags.
