Bill c-22 getting BODIED by every single tech company in existence, including Google.

Google is calling c-22 ILLEGAL according to international law.

Not even Eurofags are this incompetent and retarded but here we are (because they made backdoor encryption access and recording meta illegal)

Y'know what, for as much as we can all hate Google, they at least know not to overly fuck over the plebs.

That said, they have the chance to do the funniest thing if C-22 passes and just prevent Leaf IP from accessing Google services. We'd probably speedrun either a walkback or a collapse, though considering Leaf Politicians I know which I'd put money on...

Canada will soon devolve to North Korean equivalent level of internet innovation.

normally I'd say to hell with International Law ™️ but this is one case where I'd accept it.

I feel myself filled with so much hatred these days. Not even living paycheck to paycheck: living debt to debt. These prices on everything are fucking killing me. Going to have to stop using hot water at all at this rate. Fucking 100+ natural gas bill in summer is retarded.

And the grocery stores just keep getting worse. Fuck me, am I not supposed to live? Am I supposed to eat butter sandwiches for the rest of my fucking life?

Breaking news in the war against the shitskins, a devastating blow has allegedly been launched at their frontlines

Tim Hortons is pledging to hire some 10,000 local employees, rolling back its reliance on the temporary foreign worker program.

The coffee chain says 400 hiring events have already taken place throughout March and April, and that the hiring blitz of local team members will continue throughout the year.

It's a bit of a change for the company, which has in the past relied on the temporary foreign worker program to pull in new employees. Tim Hortons says it turned to the foreign worker program following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, when the country experienced a shortage of workers.

I remember some elbozos trying to boycott Singh Horton because it's owned by an amerikkkan-brazilian. It didn't go anywhere of course (Redditors could never give up fast food) but still found it funny and to be fair, at least they were consistent with their amerikkka bad rhetoric there.

:story: they really are terrified of Dunkin Donuts taking them for a ride to come out with this as a feeble play to elbows up behaviour. Extra hilarity is knowing they won't be hiring anything of the sort since their holding company loves abusing LMIA and, no matter the public statements contrary, is guaranteed still lobbying to give them preferential treatment. Fuck Tims, they get what they deserve.

Fucking good. I hope US companies all come in and elbow the fuck out of our lazy, gluttonous corporations. Retarded commies screech about "MUH CAPITALISM" as if some actual fucking competition wouldn't solve Canada's issues.

Not in the slightest. Given the US is roughly x10 the size of Canada population-wise, the Canadian market its x10 as small so the funding pool is peanuts in comparison. The thing the CRTC is after though isn't funding series as much as subsidizing existing media groups; you don't have the money (or desire) to make a Canadian show in Canada? Why just contract out to these approved groups who are making one, only requirement is you host it and feature it on your Canadian portal. Doesn't matter no one will watch it, the palms of key media insiders who couldn't survive in a legitimate market otherwise are greased.

The threat to pull out is also not improbable. I don't expect it since Netflix and company already have a court case in progress, but Facebook took down their news feed in Canada without so much as a blip on their global metrics in response to earlier legislation. Considering these streamers also own a lot of licensing rights to IPs (if not the IPs themselves) they could skull fuck the like of Bell, Telus, and Rogers overnight since, surprise surprise, most Canadian consumers watch American content first and foremost that those companies are sub-licensing from the American streamers. This isn't a fight the CRTC or our media oligarchy will ultimately win.
We will end up back in the dark ages of the early streaming world, where a lot of stuff just isn't legally available in this shithole of a third world dictatorship.

I feel terrible for the two poor white people that desperately need a job that get hired and are forced to work with 50 retarded shitskins at Tim Hortons. They should almost be sued for torture tbh

This isn't even close to the worst, unfortunately (although possibly singularly the most expensive)

$4 million to Ukraine for "gendered Demining"

$9 million for "gender just rice farming" in Vietnam

$5 million for "gender responsive public planning" in Nepal

$8 million to "enhance women’s capacity to adapt to climate change" in ghana

$5 million to "empower women peacebuilders" in Sudan

$50k for the UN to research "arms control through a feminist lens"

And dozens more. Of course, you've heard of these wonderful projects costing Canadian taxpayers tens of millions of dollars and had a say, yes?

To the Canadian Liberal mind, a government that won an election has been given the right to do whatever the fuck it pleases, and the citizenry has no right to complain, because the government was elected. Pair that with the complete lack of any mechanism to remove a bad government, and that is why Canada is a banana republic.

Oh, wait, banana republics actually brought in money by exporting goods.

What the fuck does that make this corrupt joke of a failed state?

Still surprised they haven't cut off Ukraine aid(?) yet, given that a weaker russia = weaker china, and a weaker china = a weaker LPC. Though considering they are getting less than vietnam, nepal and african shitholes, maybe Beijing called them in private.

Canadian is more of a corporatist country than a capitalist one given the heavy protectionism (though the USA's tarrifs aren't that great either)

I got to be honest I probably won't notice, I haven't paid a legit service in some time, I've even cancelled my music subscription
Yeah I never use legal streaming sites nowadays, both because being a pirate is free and how many legal websites are region locked/remove shows due to their licensing expiring (to be honest however, its mostly the former)

Canada officially drops to number 22 in updated Social Progress Index 2026.

Canada is a Tier 2 country now because we're basically just an economic zone for Indians.

This country is dying while Canadians clap like seals.

I've given up.

A decade of maddenningly watching this country vote to turn itself from a European-American nation with moderately conservative policies into a Punjabi colony is so disappointing and just sad.
