Carney and his Liberals are making their power move at last.
The Liberals have issued a challenged to the SC about Section 33 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. That's the non-withstanding clause FYI. It basically allows a province to over-ride a Federal law no matter what the Federal Courts say.

Section 33 been used a lot by Quebec to enforce their rather retarded culture laws. Alberta and Saskatchewan premier's have threatened to use Section 33 against the upcoming gun grab as well as several upcoming "green energy" laws that would pretty much devastate the oil industry. Remember Carney is a die hard greenie and has sworn that Canada will meet is Net Zero goal by 2030...which means the oil sands will have to go as they contribute about 33% of Canada's total "carbon expenditure". Plus with Albertan's dependant on federal payouts since most of them won't have jobs they'll be a lot more cooperative with federal plans, just like what happened to the maritime provinces in the 90's. Kill their economy and make them dependant on Ottawa and now you've got a solid red vote.
Ok so what?
Well the Liberals have filed an appeal with conditions to the CSC to "place restrictions and limitations on how provinces are allowed to invoke Section 33 of the Charter" this is coming about because some Jeet sued Quebec after they told him to take the towel off his head if he wanted to work as a PC. The Jeet calls it religious discrimination but Quebec call it Bill 21, or
An Act Respecting the Laicity of the State (2019), which prohibits public sector employees in positions of authority—including teachers, police officers, and judges—from wearing religious symbols (hijabs, turbans, kippahs, crosses) at work.
Note the Quebec law forbids ALL types of religious symbols while at work in a public office. Not just the stupid, stinky towels the Jeets love to wrap around their heads for some reason.
So Carney is asking the SC to basically remove Section 33 which would effectively kill any provinces ability to resist Ottawa. Not a big surprise, Liberal politicians have been gunning for section 33 for the last decade or so because it allows premier's to basically say Fuck You and the horse you rode in on and well all know that the Laurentine Elites can't stand that. It's their way or bust.
However Section 33 was the bargaining point for several provinces (AB, SASK, NL and NS) to sign the Constitution so removing or limiting it will open up a can of worms. If Section 33 is revoked by the SC (very likely given they mostly Liberals) then these provinces will have given up concessions to Ottawa in return for nothing. Section 33 was supposed to protect the provinces from federal over-reach and here is Carney saying no, Ottawa is supreme in Canada our federal statues are non-negotiable your going to obey us. End of Line.
Now we all know why the elites and their Liberal pets are doing this. There is many big heavy handed changes coming to Canada. From more immigration to more green laws to finally kill Alberta industry to more censorship and media control and Carney and his masters can't afford for places likes Alberta to just tell them to kindly get bent and ignore these new laws. If one province says no then others will follow and federal power diminishes and the elites won't tolerate that.
In the long run this will be a boon for separatism both Alberta and Quebec will take this removal of their veto very seriously but in the short term shit is going to get bad as once Section 33 is gone Ottawa is king and god over Canadians with no way to appeal anything they do.
Pay attention to what happens in the next few weeks folks, this is a turning point.
edit: here's the NP's take on it
