TIL apparently one of the delivery drivers for my store is potentially planning to go fight for Iran... He's not even from there either, he's from one of the other muslim countries... That Iran bombed...

Ots going to be dark either way might as well pick one so that your sleep schedule stays the same. Unless we develop a new clock that automatically adjusts based on when sunrise and sunset is every day.

Yeah, but it makes way more sense to have the sun rise earlier when a lot of people are working, driving, whatever. A lot of people are at home and indoors for the evening by 4PM/5PM, less beneficial to have that time be the more well lit period of the day.

I went in expecting excessive force but not in a way that I morbidly laughed out loud when the guard said "I will fucking kill you" lmao. I have some familiarity with use of force training and that's basically the one thing you are never supposed to say. I mean, you would probably get away with it if the assailant is actively trying to harm you or someone else, but certainly not when you have them mounted and they are not actively resisting at all. The strikes would be completely inexcusable in court. Asking the fucking boomer bystander "if he wants some", who then drops his bag, takes his coat off and immediately picks his bag up and leaves, just *chef kiss*.

I feel conflicted here since I am supportive of excessive force against junkies and I know many of us are sick of the flagrant shoplifting happening these days. In Canada, cops and security guards have to play every situation extremely carefully as to not get charged using excessive force. It's why it's funny to see this refugee scholar have no regard to any of this because he thinks he will be in the right since the guy hit him first and was stealing since that's what it's like in whatever shithole country he is from.

I am sure whatever fuck face judge gets this will also feel conflicted for obvious reasons.

It always fails because there's no real consensus on how they would be handed out. Do you just hand them out to anyone who identifies as black? Well than Rachel Dolezal would qualify as well as the massive diasporoid population of Africans and West Indies people who've settled in the US (neither of which are the 'intended' groups to receive them).

Do you hand them out to just the descendants of slaves? Well that's actually a decent amount of white people. Before the black codes were enacted in the south, lots of quadroons and octoroons managed to pass well enough for white that they slipped into white society and then just stayed there after strict segregation was started. Hell, around 10-15% of white southerners likely have one enslaved black person in their ancestry.

It's a mess of an idea and there's even bigger reasons why it will fail - as the hispanic population grows, the kind of 'white guilt' that these policies play on becomes a lot harder to capitalize on. That's why there's been such a feverish push for "pro-black" policies lately because once the next round of muttification is completed, there's basically zero chance that these policies will have enough organic support to actually pass.

It is already dark as fuck in the winter for anything further north than the Golden Horseshoe, so who gives a fuck either way?

In Calgary, during the winter, sunrise is around 8:00 AM and sunset is around 4:00 PM as it is.
