China is the peerless country on Earth, at this point the USA is not even truly comparable. Chinese immigrants, while not the ideal, are a hundred times preferable than Indians. In terms of sports, China does very well, second only to the Russians generally.

What many Canadians, and Westerners, are missing the point about China, is that, while I don't support their communism, China has the largest industrial capacity in human history. Plus, Chinese culture is actually generally well-regarded, even if it's not necessarily popular. And the Chinese can be clean and disciplined with an authoritarian leadership. Cheap flights (sometimes less than $30 round trip!) to wherever else in Europe. Hearing all the funny accents. Getting a taste of different, yet familiar, propaganda. I don't think I'd like the rain though.

Counterpoint: you are more familiar with the problems and dangers of Canada and have adjusted for them. The UK has different dangers and problem where getting caught unaware could leave you robbed or harmed. Are you familiar with the rape statistics in the UK, or have you ever experienced a pickpocket? Getting a job, getting the money to move, getting citizenship and a hell of a lot of other things is not something you do for "shits and giggles" unless you're well off enough where it doesn't even fucking matter as you can afford to live in a neighborhood that avoids the worst of it and do medical tourism.
